3 out of 5 eggsGood for work, not for play

Pros: Beautiful looking display. Thin bezel, minimalistic, good adjustable stand, easy to assemble, nice variety of input ports.

Cons: Black levels are terrible. Even with the brightness turned all the way down, the blacks are much worse than my 7 year old Syncmaster 226CW, which barely turns on anymore. This is especially noticeable if you look at it from an angle, and around the edges.

The colors look pretty faded unless you pump the contrast, at which point you lose a lot of finer details.

I never planned to use the build-in speakers, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're desperate. No base, and the mid-range is pretty muddy.

On screen settings menu is right dead smack in the middle of the screen... so trying to calibrate the monitor is annoying.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor to mainly do software development on... and it is fine for reading and writing text, and web browsing.

But it is absolutely not recommended for watching film, TV, or playing video games... which is unfortunate because it is such a large and beautiful display, until you turn it on.

Also wish it came with a mini-displayport to displayport cable, so I could easily use it with macs or tablets.

3 out of 5 eggsdisapointed

Pros: Super thin bezel!!!

Cons: - grey
- washed out
- the speakers are nothing to brag about, which was to be expected

Other Thoughts: how is it possible that my old benq gw2750 looks sooo much better than my new asus monitor??? on the benq the colors are brighter, the blacks are blacker, and it also beats it with a 4ms response time. they are both va panels, i though for sure the asus would be superior. this is disappointing to say the least. i bought two to finally get a dual screen setup, and the bezel is a quarter the size of my benq, so ill have to use them for a few days and see if i get used to it... very disappointing, i guess you are paying for the bezel, not the screen quality.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!

Pros: * Great Adjustable Stand(able to turn to Portrait or Landscape)
* Super thin bezel
* Comes with a various amount of cables/adpaters
* Amazing picture/quality
* Matte Screen
* The Size of the monitor is Incredible!

Cons: * None that I could honestly say.

Other Thoughts: Never tried the speakers out as I only wear headphones whenever I am on the computer; read most people didn't like the built in speakers (don't bother using monitor speakers as most are not great anyway).

Also for those who might wonder about the ASUS logo, it doesn't light up, nor is it reflective/distracting whilst using the monitor. The on/off power button is lightly lit as that is also not distracting.

I was thinking about buying another one, but one is considerably enough because of the sheer size of the monitor. Nonetheless if you want two of them (or more), go for it.

Final thought, I have always purchased ASUS monitors and they seem to never let me down. Their build quality and performance fit my bill.

2 out of 5 eggsMonitor works fine, when they include all of the parts.

Pros: Good looking monitor, comes with cables, thin bezel, decent price.

Cons: Doesn't come with a standard HDMI cable. Height Adjustment and Pivot/Tilt seem loose. Terrible customer service, which I found out because I had to call the manufacturer due to the display missing parts.

Other Thoughts: All in all these monitors appear to be good, it's the manufacturer I have an issue with. My display was shipped to me in a new unopened box which was in great condition, looked like it was straight from the manufacturer. I point this out because there was no damage to the box during shipping (this becomes important later).

When I attempted to attach the display to the included stand I found that the screw to do so was missing. This put a damper on my enthusiasm for the product but I pressed on and notified Newegg that I had an issue. I explained that I thought it would be silly to pursue an RMA for what essentially was a $0.05 part, so I was given a phone number and told to contact the manufacturer for a replacement screw.

I attempted to call that number, only to receive a busy signal. Not an issue, it happens. I went to the manufacturers website and followed their instructions to create a Service Case (#NA4156454). I then jumped on their live chat system. I chatted with a rep about my issue, only to be told that they couldn't assist me and that I would need to contact their E-Parts department.

So I did. I called them up and was rudely told that "Sir, we don't sell screws. You need to contact Newegg to get that screw". I explained that I was referred to them by their own technical support staff and that I had already discussed this with Newegg. She said that it didn't matter, because they don't sell screws. I hung up without receiving any further "help" from her.

I decided to try my luck again with the live chat system. I was connected with the same agent as before, where I was greeted with a canned response and 15 minutes of waiting for a response of any sort. I dropped that chat and tried to open another one, where I was greeted by a friendly message stating that I was prohibited from making any further chat sessions.

Admittedly, I was quite angry by this time. I tried to call the tech support number again, where I was connected with a technician in their repair department who seemed to empathize with my frustration. He checked around, then explained to me that they didn't have any of the screws and that my only recourse was to get Newegg to swap the unit out. I thanked him, hung up, then called Newegg who were of course quite happy to process my claim.

The manufacturer seriously needs to address the issues I encountered today. Not so much the missing screw, I understand that these things happen, but the service I received from the E-Parts store and online chat rep was intolerable. The technician was at least straightforward and seemed to know what he was talking about. The others were either unhelpful or downright rude.

Now the manufacturer has a pricey RMA to deal with instead of a $0.05 part, and I'm not particularly inclined to order their products again.

Lesson learned, if you have issues try to avoid calling the manufacturer if it can be helped.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear John,

I would first like to thank you for your purchase of an ASUS LCD display monitor. I am so very sorry for the service support experience you have encountered. Unfortunately, ASUS does not carry all the parts that are included in a new purchase. The only parts we have available would be listed on our Estore website. For this case, unfortunately, you would have to return the monitor back to Newegg. Your valuable feedback is appreciated, and I will be sure to forward your review to our quality assurance team. Please feel free to email at if you would like to discuss this further. Please also include your unique case number N141024493 in the subject line of the email as well.

Best regards,
ASUS Customer Loyalty

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Single or Multi screen setups

Pros: First as title says great for multi screen setups. You can even use the included stand for all 3 screens as you can use the stand to run in landscape or portrait, Or if you prefer it has VESA mounts for monitor stands or wall mounting. Tiny Bezels under half inch except for bottom one which is slightly larger.

Lots of screen real estate and did I say tiny bezels yet ??. Excellent picture and several picture modes. The same as Asus uses in most all of there monitor panels. RBG mode, Scenery mode, theater mode, Game mode, Standard mode and Night view. I seem to prefer theater mode myself. The speakers that they come with are good for what you are getting. I guess what I am trying to say is they are not bad for built in speakers and will do in a pinch.

Full HDMI and the blacks are magnificent. I have 3 of these panels. Interestingly this is the same panel as the Asus VN279Q, the only difference between the VN2769Q and the VN279QL is the much nicer stand that comes with the L model and the L model also comes with every CABLE, Display port, HDMI, Display port to DVI and HDMI to mini HDMI. The price difference between the two is usually 20 bucks however in my opinion if you are going to use the stock stand and not mount them the extra 20 dollars is well spent on the nicer stand and cables. My 3 are on a triple stand. They are nice and thin for panels without power bricks. I have yet to see any light bleed or bad, dead, stuck pixels.

One last comment is that I think Asus monitors seem to be of very nice quality I have these 3 27 inch panels and I have also purchased 3 24" inch monitors Asus VH238 and all 6 Asus monitors worked flawlessly out of the box and continue to do so. No stuck/dead pixels on any of them. That's pretty good no matter what your expectations are.

Cons: I guess the lack of a DVI port is my biggest gripe. Also if you are going to wall mount the on/off and controls are on the bottom back of the panel so you would need to have a little gap to get your fingers behind there to turn it on/off and or change settings. Personally I don't like they come with speakers but that's a small gripe.

Other Thoughts: Over all I have 99% good things to say about these panels, I watch a ton of movies and play my PC games deep into the night, Very pleased with these monitors. Buy this or the VN27Q model when they are on sale and rebate to keep costs under 300 bucks. The Asus rebate is 30 dollars and well worth sending in. Also just follow the instructions and the Rebate process works great.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT monitor!

Pros: I did a lot of research online for a monitor (to get 24" or 27"). I use a 15" MBP and needed to get a bigger screen to view blueprints/architectural plans.

It was important that it was "ergonomic" and that it was able to tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjust. LOVE that this monitor does that.

My desk is about 25" deep and 1.75" thick. The closeness of the monitor takes a little getting used to (which only took about a day). If I bump into my desk which I rarely do, the monitor doesn't move. The stand is sturdy enough and doesn't make the monitor budge.

Watching 1080p movies and TV shows on this Asus monitor is amazing along with using it for reading large documents. The colors from my pictures and video are vibrant and closely match my MBP monitor (note I'm not an expert but very particular when it comes to color and sharpness).

LOVE that the bezel is thin and matte. The screen is also matte which is wonderful since my monitor sits close to 3 windows. Not much glare compared to my MBP.

Haven't really used the portrait mode. Mainly landscape. It doesn't auto-pivot when I turn it to portrait. There is probably a feature on my MBP or on the monitor that makes it auto-pivot. But, I don't have any desire to look into it since I don't need it.

I use the VGA cable that came with the monitor. However, you would need to buy a mini-display port to connect the VGA cable to the monitor.

The volume of this monitor isn't so bad. I don't have external speakers and use the monitor's speakers for watching movies/tv shows. The speakers are at its highest and find it sufficient for my purposes. They're quite loud and sometimes have to lower the volume.

After watching a movie in letterbox, there are no bleed marks/black lines.

I've had this monitor for about 2 months now and really think it's a GREAT monitor for the price and what it offers!

There were a few reviews that stated not to count on the rebate from Asus. I just received mine. I mailed the rebate on 8/22/14 and received the AmEx reward card today on 9/20/14. I mailed my invoice AND receipt along with the UPC code from the actual cardboard box.

My 4 minute video overview/review is on YT (the one with the DIVERGENT clip).

Last but not least, Newegg has the best customer service. I asked a pricing question online and they responded in less than 2 hours! I LOVE Newegg!

Cons: There's a TINY red dot on the left side of my screen. Can't really tell it's there unless I look for it. Other than that, no other dead/stuck pixels. I didn't bother to contact Newegg or Asus since I was afraid there would be more dead/stuck pixels in the next shipment and there's a minimum of pixels that Asus requires you to have before exchanging.

Also, when I have my gmail open to the general page (where all the emails are listed), it makes a small buzzing noise. When I compose a message, it goes away. When I open other sites, there is no buzzing noise. I read on the internet that one may have to adjust contrast and brightness of the screen. I did and it still makes the buzzing noise (on gmail only). It doesn't bother me enough to dock an egg. I just keep the monitor on Facebook or something else.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I got this monitor even though I really wanted something with a little bit higher resolution, but it really disappoint and I'm really pleased with it.

I love the thin bezel and how clean and crisp everything looks and especially the colors - they are FAR better then the 24" Asus monitor I was coming from (an older LCD model).

The viewing angle is awesome, the colors are rich and vibrant (I'll even say that it helps with my red-green color blindness as well because of how rich the colors are), and it's plenty bright. The blacks are very black, which is hard to find.

Cons: I do have a little bit of bleed on my particular monitor, though it's just a very small light spot near the bottom left the screen. It's not enough for me to drop an egg of off because the only time you can really see it is when the screen is very black, and even then it's hardly noticeable.

Other Thoughts: I was really impressed with it despite it not having the higher res that I wanted. The color definition and just general quality of it get me over that resolution.

5 out of 5 eggs1080P at it's best

Pros: AMVA+ with ASUS VividPixel brings 1080p to higher standard then average TN panel. Viewing angle is better. Came without any back light bleed and no white or black dot. All pixels were perfect.

Cons: 5ms game play actually not bad at all and worse than TN panel because the colors are more vivid IMO.

Other Thoughts: With a $30 rebate the price on this panel was a steal and worth the better panel than TN. Though you can save a bit more with TN panel the difference between it and an AMVA+_shows.

5 out of 5 eggsThin bezel!!

Pros: Thin bezel, Built-in Speakers, Height & Pivot Adjustable, Comes with all types of cables, 3 Year Warranty.

Cons: A DVI connection would have been nice, but ASUS has you covered with amount of cables/adapters that it comes with, so not a huge con.

Other Thoughts: I really like the slim bezel; I liked it so much that I ordered 2 more to replace my old 23.6" x3 set-up, which now looks a LOT cleaner with the thin bezels :) Maybe in time I'll upload a video.

Also I've seen a few reviews that were complaining about the buttons being in the rear; but this really didn't bother me. I mean its not a remote or controller so how often do you really need to hit the buttons?

5 out of 5 eggsAsus 27" monitor.

Pros: Slim border to fit under my old computer hutch where other monitors would fail to go. Packaged nice to withstand the travel. No damage when I opened the box. Plugged it in and used the DVI to HDMI cable and everything worked. No dead pixels. All buttons worked once you get to know how to use them. Hopefully it will give me long lasting monitor life.

Cons: For the non-tech person, it will be hard to figure out how to use the monitor since it only includes a quick startup guide but doesn't go into detail on what functions do what for the screen. I have an AMD 7870 card and had to go to the Catalyst Control Center to adjust the overscan so the picture goes to the border all around. If you don't do this, you will be left with 1 1/2" borders of black screen around your windows, games, etc. The speakers are your typical so-so, but I won't be using them so no problem there.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for $204 after a promo code, watching the pricing and hopefully getting the $30 rebate so this was a steal of a deal for the price.
