5 out of 5 eggsHands down the best monitor I've ever had

Pros: So, I built a high end gaming/art computer.
I needed a new monitor.

Saw this, for $500 *and* it being ASUS (a highly renowned monitor brand) I figured, why not?

Let me tell you.
I am absolutely blown away by 4k, and this monitor.

Speakers are good. It rotates. Many different inputs. It just works.

The picture quality is absolutely BEYOND gorgeous.

I was debating ONE of this (4k 60hz), or THREE monitors ( 1080p,144hz)

I'm much more pleased with this 4k.

Cons: If you're in the market for this, I doubt you're buying it for the speakers.
I bought this before I got a logitech sound system, so I used the monitors speakers.

It's kinda canny, bass isn't there, but it's sound. Not really a con, it about what you would expect from monitor speakers.

The button placement is kinda weird, behind the monitor, and the UI is awkward to navigate, but once you set up the monitor, you'll never need to do it again, so it's a non-issue

Other Thoughts: I really can't think of anything to make this monitor better. It has everything you'd ever want.

I will say, before you go into the market for a 4k, MAKE SURE YOUR COMPUTER CAN HANDLE IT. Running 4k is like running a 2x2 grid of 1080p monitors.

I can game 1080p literally any game on the market at 100% max settings.

Most games I can only do normal to high at 4k. I have 16gigs DDR4 memory and a 980GTX.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for 4K gaming!

Pros: There is alot of adjustment in the stand, Screen is crystal clear, and Can get 60hz.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Going from 1080p to 4K is alot, Bought this along with dual GTX 980 TI's and games run great, I would not recommended going to 4K without a very good graphics card, I upgraded huge on my graphics card and I am getting the same FPS with 4K as I was with 1080p.

All around this is a great monitor, ASUS makes great products unless they break, There support is no good at all.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor

Pros: Adjustable Height, Tilt, Swivel.
4k Display (3840x2160)

Cons: Very MINOR, but you need to be aware of it:
By default the monitor comes pre-set for DisplayPort 1.1, and this matters because DisplayPort 1.1 does not support 3840x2160 @ 60Hz, it only support 30hz. To enable the 60hz you need to go to "Menu -> System Setup -> DisplayPort Stream" and set it from "DP 1.1" to "DP 1.2". Now I don't know if they did that for backwards compatibility on the monitor or what, but you must 100% manually configure it yourself to get the monitor display at 3840*2160@60Hz.

Other Thoughts: I really do love this thing. It's put my old 1680*1050 monitor to shame. I'm just running a GTX 970 with it, and i'll upgrade later... but yes playing a video game at 3840*2160 BLOWS 1920*1080 out of the water. It's sooo much easier to snipe with this thing ;).

1 out of 5 eggslarge dead pixel

Pros: Good size monitor at a reasonable price. The standard also feels solid.

Cons: large dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Called customer support and they told me I would have to pay for shipping and that it could take three weeks despite the rapid replacement policy.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Matthew,

Thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your monitor has a large dead pixel in the middle of its screen. 5 out of 5 eggsGreat Buy, Great Quality

Pros: -3840x2160 resolution @ 60Hz using display port
-Great quality, no dead pixels, no screen errors, simple interface
-Good size and easy to assemble

Cons: Had an issue trying to use a 15ft display port cable at 60hz. It worked fine at 30hz but at 60hz the signal would drop and screen would go black. Switched to a 6ft display port cable and it worked fine.

Other Thoughts: Great display and better than some previous 4k models that I had tried in the past. This one has survived the past month with no issues and other then having to tweak some settings to get the 60Hz at 3840x2160 to display properly (and the issue I had with my cable) I have found nothing to dislike about this monitor yet.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value for 4k monitor

Pros: This monitor is such a great value for anyone shopping for a 4k monitor. There was no light bleeding on screen, beats all the monitors I have owned hands down.

Cons: Keep in mind this is a TN monitor. The colors are very good for a TN display, however the screen will wash out at angles. I loved the monitor but for my work I needed wider viewing angles. Other thing is that this a 60hz monitor. It worked great for gaming, but I wanted to go up to 144hz. The difference is night and day between 60hz and 144hz. But again, for the price, nothing can beat this monitor as you will end up paying double for a IPS with higher refresh rate.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor

Pros: I absolutely love this monitor. I have had it for 5 months now and it has worked flawlessly. Make sure you tinker with the settings to get the fastest response time and nicest picture quality. If you use the preset Game option you will be amazed. I debated between this and the ROG 144hz gaming monitor and I'm really happy I picked this one. 4k is so much more beautiful for gaming. I have yet to find another 4k monitor that you can use for gaming, all the other ones have too slow of input lag, and simply are not fast enough, trust me it will bother you in you are gamer. If you are playing CS or another competitive shooter, you can forget buying the other 4k monitors--this is the only one with an acceptable input time. Picture quality is great, the packing it came in is good. The stand is amazing, and gives plenty of height adjustment.

Cons: The button are on the back of the panel with no labels (pretty dumb) but it wont bother you. Once you press one an onscreen display shows what button does what. Its difficult to plug cables into the back ( you need to plug them upside down into underneath a stupid panel, however you can take the panel off easily to get in there.

2 out of 5 eggsdead pixels make a great screen a disapointment

Pros: I love the color and response in this monitor. It lives up to its 4k appearance once you set everything up and configure it correctly. Beware if you don't have a dedicated graphics card and you try to stream HD in

Cons: It arrived with 3 dead pixels. I don't know if its just a fluke and my bad luck, or its an actual quality department issue at Asus. Be sure to test out your monitor once it arrives for dead pixels. Luckily they have a good dead pixel policy, 5 or more dark pixels or any light pixels.

Other Thoughts: I will be replacing this product and review again when the replacement arrives.

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggsPB287Q

Pros: *4K
*60hz via Display Port 1.2
*Build Quality
*Adjustable height and can pivot.
*Vesa compatible
*Picture is good for the size of the monitor

Cons: *The refresh rate will fluctuate from 30 to 60hz while playing games. Evident by using afterburner. ( This is not to be confuse with in game FPS)
*Unit will continue to be in standby mode and will not continue to power on when you turn your computer on.
*Need to unplug the power cable for at least 10 seconds because the amber light will not turn off. After that the unit will function back to normal.
*Annoying popping sound

Other Thoughts: I have this monitor for over a year now. Paid $699 when it first came out. I bought this since this is one of the very few decently price 4k monitor at the time.
The monitor is pleasant to work with as long as it is working properly. The monitor will keep its 60hz in desktop with no problem but once in a while when my son started to play games, the refresh rate will dip to 30hz and stay there for a good 5 to 20 seconds then it will go back to 60hz.
Also, the popping sound that this thing gives is annoying and irritating. I've check the firmware of this monitor and it came with the old firmware B011B0. The new firmware for this monitor that corrected some of the issues are B021B0. Issues on this monitor are known in overclock.net.
I have tried everything from installing the driver from asus website to changing the DP cable. None of those fix the problem that I have with this monitor.
Hopefully someone from asus will shed some light to all these issues that I am having.

4 out of 5 eggsASUS PB287Q - 4K beauty

Pros: This monitor is absolutely stunning and this is coming from a 1440p ASUS PLS panel. The colors look great, work very well with DP to get the 60Hz refresh rate. If you are looking for a good 4K monitor right now but don't want to spend the extra $$ on one with Gsync this is the way to go!

Cons: Only CON I have at this moment is probably the QA from ASUS that seems to be going on with some of these panels and with ASUS monitors in general as mine came with some sort of tear / scratch under the screen that is about 1/4" in size approx., its in the top left corner and not the worst thing that could happen, but should have been noticed before it was sent off as I doubt it was something that occurred during shipping, but who knows. I am sending back for replacement as that is sort of a deal breaker for me in a brand new high priced monitor, I am just hoping I don't get another one with worse issues that have been plaguing some of these reviews :/

Other Thoughts: I will be updating my review based on how this exchange goes as I am returning for replacement not refund, so here is hoping it goes smooth and I get another unit without any issues! For those reviews that state this monitor isn't working at 60Hz as advertised..... do some research before you buy something, you have to change the DisplayPort manually over to 1.2 in order to get 60Hz refresh rate, I admit I am surprised this is manual step... but it is.
