3 out of 5 eggsWorth it. UPDATE MARCH 28th 2016 (Read Below in Other)

Pros: So this is my first panel that goes above 60hz, im coming from a Asus 1920x1080 60hz and seen alot of ppl say u cant tell the difference...i saw huge difference on the hz alone let alone the resolution. Some games u could tell how bad they were graphicly, Arkham Orgins i thought looked good but not when compared to Arkham Knight lol.

Anyway, Pros so far are just how smooth this monitor makes games, I had been playing Rise of The Tomb Raider prior to this monitor and was easy to spot just how smooth this monitor makes games when frames dip, u can still tell the frames are lower but its just so smooth. The game this really shined in for me was GTA V, my jaw was dropped as i play this game quite often and i suffered from the random stutters on that game patch after patch. I see now it was because of monitor as that game now is just ugh...so smooth. Really cant describe it, has to be seen to understand really.

Also to note, obviously playing in 2k on games will makes gpu work harder and lower ur frames but alot of ppl dont realize when u go higher than 1k resolution, u rly dont need all that AA in games, i tested few games with it on and off and at the very least, the lowest setting is enough and bonus is u get some frames back if u use to use AA or max it out, not needed now so thats also a bonus as technically this monitor then in turn boosts ur FPS which is nice :p

And no dead pixels or anything wrong with monitor so far as i seem to see with alot of ppl on here, but will update this review if anything changes.

Cons: Now onto cons, and nothing game breaking, this is a just FYI so u know ahead of time on some things.

Firstly, my 980 classy wouldnt downclock while in 144hz mode, it has to be 120 or lower for gpu to downclock it seems which aint a biggy, i dont need 144hz on desktop lol. Its easly remedied though by setting monitor to 60hz and in nvidia to set it to use highest frames when a game is running and it will auto switch to 144hz when gaming.

Second, seen alot of ppl talk about how the colors aint as good as a IPS which they are correct to a degree but it comes close id say, def the best for a TN panel ive seen. Ppl said blacks were washed out and i did notice that and did urk me honestly. So did some googling as i still use my 2nd monitor and when dragging a picture back and forth, was easier to spot just how different. Anyway, this is also completly fixable i found as windows has a built in gamma changer ( dont use nvidias ) and it now looks just as good as my other monitor on colors. Colors are nice and crisp and richer id say so i was happy to fix that.

Last Con i can think of is price, while monitor is good and comes with alot of bells and whistles. It just seems price dont match performance, if it had 4k then id say was worth it possibly or the inclusion of the nvidia 3d kit as prior to purchase i honestly did not know i needed to spend another 100 bucks on hardware to even use the 3d function of monitor but meh.

Other Thoughts: I would def recommend this if u can afford it and would buy again and would like to buy another 1 honestly but i wont be till price comes down a bit hopefully as 4k takes over slowly but thats a ways off ^.~

UPDATE: So as of today, kinda getting frustrated with this monitor as i had this issue happen first day i had it but didnt think nothing of it. The issue is, say im watching a movie or a stream and i make no moves with mouse or input for bout an hour maybe, the screen decides to disconnect itself for some reason and then it shuffles my icons from my other monitor onto the asus one and messes up my object dock and it resets the gamma settings i have done for it through windows...so guess what..each time it does that i have to ( this where i would curse at ) redo all that again every ****** time and it gets very annoying as just now it did it twice back to back. If i didnt have to reset the gamma it wouldnt be so bad but since the colors looked washed out without the settings i just cant so i dont know if its actually a defect or what as i seen on google several people have had this issue.

Wont lie...honestly thinking about getting a refund on this thing or exchanging it as its becoming a hassle.....

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect... Except

Pros: Great looking, sturdy and the perfect size for gaming.

Cons: Two issues out of the box.

First, the monitor periodically flashes black as if it's trying to auto-search for for the best refresh rate or something. Every few hours it goes black for about 2-3 seconds then normal, and then again black for a couple more seconds before returning to normal for a few more hours.

Second, The monitor doesn't seem to support its 144hz without g-sync enabled with an Nvidia card. I currently have a Radeon R9 290 but will be upgrading soon and going with Nvidia just for this feature.

Other Thoughts: The flashing i can live with even though i should probably RMA it but with all the customer service reviews I've read I think i'll try to hold out for more serious issues before bothering with an RMA. As for the 144hz, it's more of just an annoyance. It would've been nice for the specs to say something like "144hz (with g-sync enabled)" but since i was already planning to upgrade my GPU anyways, this just helped me decide which manufacturer to go with.

I just want to add that this monitor, other then the minor issues i'm having, is just AMAZING. Even at only 120hz it's just beautiful. Can't wait 'til I can run this at 144hz and who knows, it might even fix the screen flashing.

5 out of 5 eggsSOLID.

Pros: I bought this monitor about a year ago now and it has been going strong the entire time. I've had no issues with it, I LOVE the 144Hz refresh rate, anyone that says you can't notice it is full of it, I tried setting it back to 60Hz after using 144Hz for this long, and it is VERY obvious to me. The bezels are very slim, and the price has dropped substantially since the new releases of the PG279Q and upcoming PG348Q monitor. It's a good time to buy one, and although it isn't an IPS panel, the TN panel does still provide pretty nice coloring, but of course it isn't as fine as an IPS pixel color quality.

Cons: It only has DisplayPort, there are no HDMI or DVI connections, I would've liked to see DVI connectivity. No big deal though. That's the only con I can list though.

5 out of 5 eggs"Asus help" part 2!

Pros: I would recommend this monitor because it has g-sync, and ASUS is in the process of repairing mine. All you gotta do to get a repair, is call, as long as your within the first 3 years, and you didn't do any physical damage. I'm going to buy the 256hz one next tax season from ASUS I mant also get a curved screen. There is one thing that may need improved if possible, Asus needs to copy off Sharp Aquas Glass looking tvs design.

Cons: No cons except I want a more glassy look someday for a computer monitor.

Other Thoughts: This is my old post. which I gave one egg at first. G-sync 27' fancy looking, high refresh rate. Worked good for first year.

Cons:

1 year ownership later and my screen is jumping... I need repair I registered my product and sent a message about repair no response yet 3-4 days later.

I wanna send the thing back
have it repaired
pay the shipping like 100 bucks or w/e use it
get the monitor back winthin 2 months and go WOW its fixed! boom end of story

Asus needs to very seriously honor customers who have paid this much, please help.

Other Thoughts:

IF Asus will repair mine for the cost of shipping , ask me if I broke it?, I say no, hush up and fix it. Think Walcart here Asus... be the walcart of gaming hardware!

ASUS Response:Dear Jeffrey,

1 out of 5 eggsTotal Nightmare - STAY AWAY

Pros: It has a great picture and very fluid motion

Cons: Stay away - far away. I have purchased this monitor and it has been nothing short of a complete nightmare. 3 monitors were returned to newegg due to dead pixel issues (clearly asus just doesnt QA anything). The fourth monitor developed a severe backlight bleed. I sent the monitor in for repair and what I got back was a damaged monitor and missing parts. They failed to reconnect the baseplate of the monitor and ripped the ribbon cord. To add insult to injury, they basically ignore me now and have done nothing to rectify the situation.

In summary if you don't care about your Asus hardware breaking, they sure make cool looking products. Just expect nothing when it comes time for warranty service.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy Asus products again. This monitor doesn't even deserve 1 star after the experience I have had. The fact that this monitor has 4 four star rating is an absolute farce. Asus is the sterotypical Chinese company that sells low quality **** that always breaks. Stick with companies like eVGA who have support in US and actually care about customer service.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Hello, I would like to thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate to hear that 3 of your monitors had to be returned due to dead pixels, and your 4th one is suffering severe back light bleed. Sorry to hear that your monitor was damaged and missing parts upon repair and the inconvenience this caused you. Had you try calibrating your monitor to see if that helps with the back light bleed? Can you please contact me at cl-justin@asus.com with pictures and your RMA # that was given you to for your case? 2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: Very bright, good resolution, colors seem decent, good size.

Cons: After three months, fonts started displaying poorly. They were blurry/fuzzy. After poking around on the Internet, it is apparently a known issue. It took several exchanges with Asus to get them to issue an RMA. They don't pay for you to ship their faulty product to them for repair, so prepare to be out $50 if this happens to you. After about 1.5 weeks, I got my monitor back, completely disassembled. Not even remotely put together like you would expect or get out of the box when you buy it. On top of that, they scratched the stand during the repair process.

Other Thoughts: After this experience, I can't recommend this product to anyone. There are plenty of other options out there that don't have as many problems. It's disappointing to find out how little Asus cares about their own products, especially one that's on the higher end. I won't ever buy another Asus monitor again.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Hello, I would like to thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your monitor is having a difficult time displaying your port clearly, and that that your replacements stand was scratched during the repair process. 1 out of 5 eggsFaulty monitor, even worse customer servuce

Pros: The monitor looks good that's about it.

Cons: I'm writing this review to warn everyone not to purchase this monitor. My screen died on me and I ended up shipping it back to ASUS to be fixed. The problem started when the monitor was returned to me. The UPS guy that knocked on my door and he had a box that looked like a flat screen tv fit in it, not my ASUS monitor. I opened the box anyways and the monitor was in pieces. The base, the stand, and the screen had all been taken apart and were all scratched up. The hardware that was holding the pieces together originally were in a tiny bag in the bottom of the box. Apparently they didn't feel like reusing the original box that I sent to them and they just used some junk box that was laying around and was in no way meant to be used for a monitor. The parts were all poorly wrapped in bubble wrap. The worst part is that the power cord that goes to the base was ripped in half when the badly trained staff at ASUS took it apart so the light up base would no longer work even if I was able to put it together.

I called customer support and they told me to send pictures to them of the damage. It's been a long time since I sent the pictures and I still haven't heard back from them. It's bad enough that I've already called my uncle who is an attorney to see if there is anything we can do to get a new monitor because obviously ASUS doesn't care about me or any of it's customers and they destroyed a monitor that cost over $600.

I'm begging any potential customer not to buy this monitor or any other ASUS product because the quality is terrible and the customer support is even worse.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Bryan,

Hello, I would like to thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate that your replacement was poorly packaged and your power card to the base was ripped in half, so your base will no longer light up. Sorry for the inconvenience this caused you. 3 out of 5 eggsI want to love this monitor so badly, but I can't

Pros: - No dead pixels on arrival
- No light bleed
- Solid build, doesn't feel cheep
- Beautiful picture
- I am coming from a 23" 60Hz monitor i bought for 140 dollars back in 2013

Cons: My big con for this is not being able to use this monitor to it's fullest potential. When I set the monitor to 144Hz it's starts to flicker to black, then it will either go to Standby mode or just say "No Signal". It will do the same thing at 120Hz but not as quickly as 144Hz. I have found the magic number to be 85Hz. I have two 970's so I know I have more than enough power to run the display at 144Hz. I usually keep my NVIDIA Control Panel open on my second monitor (My old 23" monitor) so if the monitor flickers to black I have just go into the settings and change it back to 85Hz and voila, it comes back to life. I have the 3 year warranty on the monitor so I am going to keep it for a bit longer and mess around with settings before I decide to contact ASUS support.

Other Thoughts: Monitor wasn't "Plug-n-Play" however it was fairly trivial to set up. I just went into my NVIDIA Control Panel and enabled the monitor.

Also I would give the monitor 5 stars but I can only get it to run a 85Hz without going black =(

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Daniel,

Thank you for taking your time in writing this review. We certainly value your feedback. It is unfortunate that you are having flickering problems with your monitor.
