3 out of 5 eggsOk Product

Pros: Large, bright screen. IPS so color was decent. Cheap.

Cons: More an issue with 1080p on a 27" screen, the ppi was a huge downgrade moving from 23" 1080p ASUS. I could clearly see all the pixels, and it bothered me.
The blacks were very gray, even for an IPS.
There was a TON of motion blur. I'm not an intense gamer, but it was painfully obvious the amount of motion blur.

Other Thoughts: Returned and got a 2k 27" screen and couldn't be happier with ppi.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS VC279H Monitor

Pros: - Have DVI port, VGA port and one HDMI port, enough for every kind of video output.
- The screen size is big, but not too big, it's good to me.
- Have build in speaker, which is very useful
- The frame is moderation, it's not intolerable to see

Cons: - If there's another HDMI port will be great, but one is enough to use
- This monitor stand is pretty unsteady, it will shake for even a tiny movement to the desk.
- The resolution is 1080p, for this big screen size, the display seems too dim if you look near the screen. At this price level, I can't ask more. If you want a monitor to fit your beast machine, I will recommend you buy a 2K or 4K monitor.

Other Thoughts: For me, one VGA for laptop output, one DVI for my desktop computer, and HDMI for my console. Get every thing done pretty well, especially you can use the build in speaker to play the sound from HDMI device.

2 out of 5 eggs2 stars because of RMA service

Pros: Bought 2 of these for programming and for mid gaming - GREAT!
- love both brightness and blue light filter
- mountable
- don't expect the best of the best, but it is at its best
- thin bezel!

Cons: - wish it came with longer VGA, HDMI, or DVI cables
- any acute angles, the bezel at the bottom will create a gap between the monitors

RMA... got a dark black spot that looked like a hallway into the monitor. Happened 3 months into the product and not the best thing in the world. For one, the RMA process is ridiculous. Make sure you monitor doesn't go out on you or it's going to be hell for you. Even though the RMA is free, the process isn't! First, it'll seem all smooth from there, but ASUS doesn't provide any boxes or even a free label to get your product shipped. Second, looking for a box for this monitor (DON'T THROW YOUR BOX AWAY until you're satisfied) sucked! Paying almost $80 to get this shipped was fine at first, but being sent to the wrong address, not fine! I'm paying another $80 just to get this shipped. More than half the price of the monitor spent...

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this monitor(s) for the time it lasts. After, don't bother RMA'ing the product. You might as well buy another or spend your money elsewhere. Other than that, it looks cool when you have dual monitors.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Satisfied

Pros: - Size, 27"
- 1080p
- HDMI and VGA connections (don't really care about the DVI connection)

Cons: Monitor was a little blurry out of the box. I turned down (not completely off) the vividpixel as others had suggested but still a little blurry. Desktop icons were half off the left side of monitor. I then selected auto-adjust and everything was clearer and aligned properly.
Color is off in side to side comparison to my laptop. I haven't tried any color adjustments yet.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor for the price ($169). It was a huge upgrade from my original 15" square LCD monitor from BJs. This is far better than my 22" monitor at work. I guess I'll have to work from home more often.

My suggestion to ASUS is to adjust their factory pre-sets. You are doing yourself a dis-service sending out monitors that need adjusting out of the box. That cost you 1 egg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat entry level IPS monitor

Pros: First impression... just opened box and turned on...
Very bright and great view angles
Physical buttons that are nicely hidden away but easily accessed just underneath
DVI, HDMI, and VGA ports
DVI, HDMI, and VGA cabled included !!!
Easy to setup and lightweight
Good price for an entry level IPS when on sale
3 year warranty

Cons: The stand is wobbly; sturdy but wobbly.
The DVI, HDMI, and VGA ports point downward in a small recessed space, cabled have to be squeezed in. Almost lost a star for this but the included cables made up for it.
There power supply is external

1 out of 5 eggsGreat design and specs, extremely bad quality.

Pros: - design
- specs
- flicker free
- reduced blue light
- vivid colors
- great viewing angles

Cons: - extremely bad quality. The uppermost layer (most likely anti-glare) was badly glued, so during unboxing its large part (~25%) got simply peeled off leaving that area almost invisible to the eye
- requires extra configuration

Other Thoughts: I don't recommend this as a present, since there is a good chance that it will have to be returned. Also, by default the settings are not optimal for reading, which is the most important case for a lot of people, so reading manual and playing with settings might be required.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade!

Pros: -Great color/image quality
-Little-to-no noticeable ghosting
-Pleasing design.

Cons: -No audio-out
-Dollar-store headphones have better sound quality than the built-in speakers.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 23-inch decent-but-cheap LG monitor. There is little-to-no noticeable ghosting, and I haven't had any trouble reading with it; text looks great to me. My Xbox One, PS4, and computer are all hooked up to it via an HDMI switch, and I've had no problems playing Destiny or Tomb Raider or Far Cry 4. The colors look great, way better than they did on my LG. I also really like the OSD reticle (would've come in really handy doing LASO challenges in Halo Reach). The OSD menu itself isn't too bad to navigate through, but I've yet to encounter any monitor that had a great one, so I can't fault it for that. I bought two of them thinking I'd sell one to a client who's been in the market for a new monitor (he's using a 10+ year-old LCD), but I may just keep it for a second monitor.

My one big complaint is that there is no audio-out. This wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the fact that the on-board speakers are the worst I've ever heard. I've had Playskool toys with better speakers! My phone had better sound quality! Seriously, I had to buy a new HDMI switch with an audio extractor to keep from having to swap my speaker connection to whatever device I was currently using. If this was the World's Most Perfect Monitor but still had the same speakers and no audio-out, I would subtract one full egg because of the sound quality.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Close To The ASUS Standard I've Become Accustomed To

Pros: Price is great at the $169 I paid. Colors are good after some setup selection. That's it.

Cons: Unacceptable text quality. Text is pixelated and has associated ghosting. Turning off Vivid Pixel as some people suggest in the reviews does not solve the problem. All that does is decrease the sharpness to a point where don't notice the problem as much. It is still there and now the decreased sharpness of any text coupled with text ghosting makes it hard to read and leaves you frustrated. This is an inherent Asus problem. I am , and always have been an Asus buyer. Whether it be monitors or Asus motherboards. Just not this monitor. I set this monitor next to my Asus VE278Q 27 inch monitor and ran it in duplicate screen mode. Noticeable better difference with the VE 278. My two Asus 24 inch monitors also look better. And yes, I have tried all the setup adjustment options. On a lesser note, the base is flimsy. Easy attachment but not substantial enough. As far as the slim bezel goes, Bezel-less, but NOT frame-less. I am returning these monitors.

Other Thoughts: I advise everyone to steer clear of this monitor. It has a basic IPS engineering design flaw. Maybe that's why it's so inexpensive.
That said, Asus does have other monitors that I personally own and would recommend purchasing.

5 out of 5 eggsMakes my old monitor look drab and lifless

Pros: Colors are very bright and crisp. No dead pixels. Ownership 6 weeks and still excited about it. Very good price for this class of monitor. It's an Asus product and I know it will be supported should there be any issues. Shipped to me way sooner than I expected, Thanks New Egg. Using it at 720p so Syndicate won't crash.(Graphics card, not monitor's fault). Still looks good. No granulation. Back light is very bright. After a couple of small adjustments using Win 10 calibration app it really looks great. Great for gaming, MS Office products look good for email, documents and spreadsheets. All txt can be read without glasses. Remote access to work PC is so much better looking. I'm giving it 5 eggs and a big'O high 5 to Asus and Newegg.

Cons: Just a tad ghostly in the light of day. At night, dark office it goes away. Makes my old LCD 24" look really bad.

Other Thoughts: I am seriously considering buying another one. Don't tell my wife.
