4 out of 5 eggsHc3800 Home Theater/Gaming

Pros: Nice picture @ 100+ inches

Works well in moderately lit room

Cons: Fan of doom... after a month break in, the fans begin to whine. Tried all the Google tips to attempt remedy to no avail...

Other Thoughts: For the price, this is an excellent starter theater projector. Just turn up the volume to avoid the fans of DOOM! Doom I say!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: This truely is a great projector. The picture is perfect. There is no rainbow effect even if you try looking for it. Projecting on 122" screen the colors are amazing. It does project low (or high depending on floor or ceiling) so you must have a good place to mount. I am on a ceiling mount five inches from the celing Fourteen feet away it makes a 122" diag picture but it is almost all the way to the floor (w/ no keystone adj used) and 30 inches from the celing.

Cons: I too am having a issue with w/ a 30ft hdmi cable. I have tried this cable on 6 devices and it works fine. However it does not work from htpc to this projector. Tried 4 other cables from htpc to projector all worked fine. Projetor seems to be picky with cable quality or length. (all that worked where under 20ft)

Other Thoughts: Overall this projector can not be beat at this price or twice the price. Buy it

1 out of 5 eggsPopped on first use

Pros: Easy setup, very nice picture while it lasted

Cons: Too bad it popped after a days use. I specifically went with DLP as it was supposed to have longer run times. After a days worth of use this projector literally "popped"!

Other Thoughts: Props to new egg for a hassle free RMA!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: Had a HC3100 before this. It lasted 2 years and had a hardware malfunction when it got some brick dust in it after construction was rattling my place. This one has lasted a year and I've seen very little loss of resolution/brightness. It's relatively silent and has been very dependable. I game and watch movies on it, always in high beam mode. So far it's withstood marathon amounts of 10+ hours and I tend to use it about 3 hours a day and it hasn't given me any trouble.

Cons: In the past couple of months it has developed this little tick where it will randomly shut off after about an hour or so. It does this about 10% of the time and only when I'm running my computer through it. I just have to wait for it to cool down and boot it back up and its fine the rest of the time.

Also, while it does have some features to allow for offset, it's best to have a perfect place for it in mind that's centered and either really high or really low. I had to set up a shelf behind the couch for mine.

Other Thoughts: Got this about a year ago when they had the free bulb deal going on (which they honored even after the expiration of the deal). Mitsubishi is 2 for 2 in my book for quality, reasonably priced projectors.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: -Works really well
-Great quality for the price
-Free replacement lamp with rebate!

Cons: Currently having problems with a 50ft HDMI cable, HC3800 does not want to display 1080p using this cable (1080i works) .

(I know it might not be the cable because 1080p is displayed on all of my home TV's using the same cable)

5 out of 5 eggsHC3800 Rules

Pros: Fantastic picture quality using an Xbox 360 over VGA connection.

Playing Halo Reach in 1080p on a 100 inch screen is quite fun. We also use it for home movies and even did an outdoor movie night with an 84in pull-up projection screen.

Free lamp is a great deal.

Cons: A little tough to get the right placement, works out well sitting on the bookshelf in the back of the room. I had to find very thin books for it to sit on to adjust one side. The image tends to project higher than you'd think, I believe that's because it's meant to be on a mount and it would be upside down.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this product, great price, great deal with the lamp offer. Don't waste money on a projection screen if you can just paint a wall with matte white paint.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing projector and a great deal

Pros: Light, beautiful picture. blacks are dark. Silent and comes with a free lamp by MIR. Great picture out of the box wihtout any tweaking...

Cons: Not sure there are any. Maybe only 1 HDMI port but if you get a projector, you should have a receiver doing the HDMI switching...

Other Thoughts: This is an upgrade from a LP260 that was 10 years old. Of course it looks incredible cpmpared to what I had before. This projector is a much better deal IMO than the Optoma HD20. It ranks better in many reviews and is a no brainer with the MIR for a free lamp. If you add a 5000h lamp life, $50 off and 2 years waranty, the optoma looks not that good of a deal...

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Insane

Pros: When i ordered this, i knew it would be really great based on reviews, but this is seriously better than the theaters. it's so clear and crisp. the blacks are really good too, it beats the heck out of our old CRT hdtv. If you're trying to decide between DLP or LCD, you should totally go with DLP. I can't even see any rainbow effect on this projector even if i'm looking for it and you won't see any pixels like LCD. some people are saying it's a little noisy, but it really isn't. it has 3 big fans on it that don't make much noise.

Cons: it doesn't cook me dinner...

Other Thoughts: I'm blown away by this projector and it's at a great price for the quality.

3 out of 5 eggsShutoff problem - recall

Pros: Picture is quite satisfactory on a 12' glass bead screen in a dark room.

Cons: I bought this 2/2/10. It is firmware 1.0 This unit has spontaneous shut-downs. This was fixed in early Jan by Mitsibishi F/W 3.0 This was a recall. This vendor sold old stock. Vendors are supposed to return all original stock units and have them replaced.

Other Thoughts: Let us see if NewEgg exchanges this per manufacturers warranty for this recall, or sends me to Mitsibishi. Embarrassing to entertain and have the unit shut down.

4 out of 5 eggsGood out of the box picture

Pros: - Beautiful picture quality with minimal adjustments to colors needed
- Fairly quiet
- Bright even on normal settings
- Focus and keystone correction easy to adjust
- Beautiful, well built, wonderful projector

Cons: - Large side vents allow a lot of light to bleed out into the room
- No lens shift (common for this price range and DLP)
- No rear legs for adjusting (I have it on a shelf and had to raise the rear of the projector up about 3/4 inch to get the placement right. See also no lens shift)

Other Thoughts: - Great machine for home use, but I had to move my theater room and adjustment was tough in the new location due to the lack of lens shift and the lack of rear legs.
- Easy to find a ceiling mount for, which takes care of the few complaints I had about this model.
