4 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Large, inexpensive, low refresh rate, high resolution

Cons: First one died after 3 years. 2nd one at 3 years, hdmi does not detect it's resolution, but vga does, so I have to do DVI>VGA and run in analog.

Other Thoughts: I bought my first one on 11/2/2007, my second one feb 2008, and two more in 2009.

The first one died early 2011 from PSU, was intermittent but got progressively worse over the course of about 3 months before dying completely. My second one, the computer no longer detects available resolutions via HDMI, so I have to use VGA, which works well. The difference in quality is VERY small.

The last two are still working great, but are a different version, with buttons on the bottom instead of side, which I prefer. I am using them to tri-screen with nVidia Surround, for resolution of 5760x1200, and they work GREAT for that.

i7 950, 6gb ram, corsair force F40 SSD, eVGA x58 Micro, 2x GTX580's in a micro atx case drive 3 of these mammoth beasts in nVidia surround, for a combined resolution of 5760x1200, which plays every game on max.

I would only replace these with 27" 120hz monitors, but those are $600 each, so these will do until the price comes down.

5 out of 5 eggsOver 2 years and going strong

Pros: Had trouble with this monitor last night and wanted to give it kudos because I would have blasted it had it gone out in just a couple years.

For the last month something was wrong with my display. It did not want to wake up with mouse or keyboard movement after going to sleep. A few days ago it got worse when it blinked on and off, but a restart seemed to resolve. Last night it blinked a couple times and powered off seemingly for good. I have been going from a DVI on video card to HDMI. A month ago I decided I had a HDMI port on my video, so I used a HDMI to HDMI on monitor. I was suspicious that HDMI was having issues with sleep mode.

Well, I grabbed the dusty trusty 19 inch monitor and started thinking of which monitor I should get next. I have never had a monitor last less time than it takes me to want a larger one. I do not need larger than 27inch and the colors and everything looked fine for a monitor this size that cost less than $300 2 years ago, disappointment.

Cons: I had redone all the connections into the monitor and the computer, still problem persisted. Once I connected the 19 inch monitor IT had no power either. As it turned out, the power cord was slightly loose to my UPS, plugged it in fully and the 19 inch turned on. So I reconnected the ol' Hanns G and Vwala (I know how to spell Voila) everything is working as it should

Other Thoughts: Moral of the story: Check the connections, all the connections. I assumed that there was no way the UPS cables would wiggle loose, but they did. Come to think of is, the dog likes to sit under my desk at night when I am there.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally died

Pros: Excellent monitor. Probably the best I have ever had.

Cons: It finally quit waking up from sleep mode. In the process of RMAing it. Hanns-G support number was helpful but, hard to understand as they were not native English speaking. But, did get it accomplished. Got it to the UPS store today and will be waiting patiently on it's return. This back up 17 " monitor makes me appreciate it even more. Will report back on how the outcome is.

Other Thoughts: This was a great monitor and I would definitely purchase it again. I just hope it comes back as good as it used to be with no dead pixels and working perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsslowing starting to have problems after 2 years

Pros: This has been a fantastic, unbelievably huge and fantastic monitor for just over 2 years. I went from a 17 " monitor to this and it is awesome! No dead pixels, no problems whatsoever.

Cons: For the past several months it has been slow to wake from sleep mode. I was not sure if it was the monitor until after some troubleshooting. It is fine once it gets warmed back up after being asleep all night, but it is taking longer and longer to light up from sleep. The blue light comes on indicating it has a signal. I had been using the DVI to HDMI cable that came with it, but it many times would not see any signal and the light would stay yellow. I got a VGA cable to use with the DVI to D-Sub adapter that came with it and that appears to be better, but it is getting worse as time goes on. When it does wake from sleep, it will flash on and off for a few minutes and the screen moves around a bit and it looks weird until it warms up. Sometimes it is necessary to turn it off and back on to get it to work.

Other Thoughts: The good thing is it has a 3 year warranty! But, it is a great monitor, so I hope they can fix it and get it back like it was! :)
I will probably wait until it gets a little worse, but not too close to the 3 year point.

1 out of 5 eggsDied early. 1 Year 9 Months.

Pros: The screen size is fantastic. The brightness is extremely helpful while performing routine business file tasks. Resolution size is rarely available on any lcd monitor these days. It equates more real estate space to view multiple files without having to buy a second monitor.

Cons: HEAVY BLEEDING AROUND THE EDGES WITHIN THE FIRST THREE MONTHS. Cannot watch movies with so much bleeding. UNIT DIED AFTER 1 YEAR AND 9 MONTHS. Cheaply made.

Other Thoughts: It was cheap, around $330.00 at time of purchase. You get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor, but expect bleeding.

Pros: - Awesome size
- Good colors, bright, clear picture etc.
- No ghosting due to 3ms response time

Cons: - Menu is a little quirky, but useable.
- Blacks are not true blacks
- Don't like the way it makes you switch from VGA to HDMI
- Only one HDMI port
- Bad backlight bleeding around all four sides.

Other Thoughts: I would really like to emphasize how bad the blacklight bleeding is. There is about an inch of misty whitish bleeding around all four sides of the screen when black colors are on the screen. It is not completely horrible, but it is rather annoying on black screens. I'm quite sure just about everyone who buys this monitor experiences this, but doesn't understand what it is, and even refer to it as 'ghosting', which is incorrect. I've read several forums where people experience the exact same level of backlight bleed as I do. Every LCD screen has some level of backlight bleed, but this really just has too much. I have email Hanns-G about it to see if I can get a replacement, but have not had a response yet. If this blacklight bleeding was fixed, I would give this monitor a 5/5 - 10/10, but with this issue it's a 8.5/10 for me.

5 out of 5 eggsbang for the $$$

Pros: I have 3 of these monitors now. I had 1 that I picked up a couple years ago at a bigbox store and just got 2 more on black friday. sheer size is amazing for the cost. people are awestruck when they walk in my office and see 3 side by side.

Cons: not really a con of the recent purchases, but the one i bought a while back is not as bright as the new ones forcing me to dim the brightness on the new ones to match. also the old one has a slight flicker to it. it has been on 8hrs a day minimum for a couple years so i cant complain.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitor for the price.

Pros: Good size, nice looking. Good quality overall.

Cons: Only 1 HDMI port. Wish the stand would telescope upwards. The side configuration buttons are a nuisance. There should be seperate buttons for volume control.

Other Thoughts: The speakers are okay, I wouldn't advise depending on them for quality sound for gaming or anything. Nice large monitor for the price.
