4 out of 5 eggsDecent Budget Monitor for gaming and movies

Pros: Crisp clear big. I use it for games and movies and I am no videophile but for the average person it is great. The X contrast setting is lame but as long as you dont have it on you get good quality imo.

Cons: The stand is extremely unstable and cheap. I play a lot of RTS and when I am boxing units the monitor wiggles. It is very annoying and I have to put a piece of wood behind it so the monitor wont wiggle as much. Im getting a new monitor for my main gaming this will be a side for web or streaming stuff in one day. If u cant stand wiggling, stay away or prepare for modification of the stand.

Other Thoughts: Speakers suck and I wish they just DIDNT put them on at all. Do people actually use the speakers? I dont care about them cuz I use sennhieser headphones 99% of the time but I feel they are a waste.

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely disappointed!

Pros: Low cost, simple low-profile monitor without glossy trimmings that make other monitors look silly or dated after a few years.
Beautiful picture, great for movies & gaming.
A buddy had one and I was so impressed I bought two.

Cons: After 14 months of perfect service they both died - a week apart. Since we're a recording studio all of our power is filtered and stabilized. The HannsG's were given gourmet electricity in a dust-free HEPA purified air environment.
IOW, these monitors failed because they're shidd.

Other Thoughts: I'll never buy HannsG products again. I was a very early adopter of their line and still have all the original HW191D's we bought 10(?) years ago. The build quality between their original line and current line shows they are dropping like a rock.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy at own risk

Pros: The monitor is big. No dead pixels. If it wasn't for the one great big CON, it would be a great monitor.

Cons: Every once in awhile, it'll get this electronic glitch that will make it "auto adjust" and I'll end up with the entire screen in an odd position. With big black spaces on the top, bottom or sides of the "desktop" area. It does it at random. You can adjust and adjust and adjust, and it doesn't seem to want to fix itself. There have actually been times where it's taken WEEKS to suddenly, at random, adjust itself back to a regular full screen desktop.

The problem is exasperating. Irritating. And this monitor has a rep for having the WORST auto-adjust of any hanns-g monitor out there. DO NOT BUY. It's just not worth the aggravation. I tried to return it within the 1 year of warranty, and they said "we'll send you an RA" and despite numerous calls back, I never got the RA. And now it's sadly out of warranty.

Other Thoughts: I bought the monitor because it didn't say anything about this issue. But once it happened 4 or 5 times, I did research and found the problem was something they were aware of and just didn't care that a "few" people got stuck with the defective "adjustment" function. I'll never buy a hanns-g again.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent graphics. No noise. Never tried the speakers, though.

Cons: None, until 2 weeks ago. After owning for almost 2 years, screen now goes black after 5 seconds. Apparently, the capacitors are bad and I don't feel comfortable soldering new ones into them.

Other Thoughts: Really great all-around, but the monitors capacitors didn't last as long as I would have liked.

5 out of 5 eggsHad over 2 years now!

Pros: This monitor has been on almost all the time. Many games played on it, moved from room to room, house to house, still works perfectly. No dead pixels, no brightness problems. Works like new.

Cons: Monitors don't grow larger over time?

2 out of 5 eggsGood for 2 months - then loud hum

Pros: Excellent display quality. Crisp image.

Cons: After 2 months of operation, developed a loud hum that appears to be related to the backlight and not the speakers (can mute speakers with no effect). If I adjust brightness over 97 (blinding), hum goes away.

Other Thoughts: Hum is annoying enough that I will pursue an in-warranty exchange with manufacturer.

2 out of 5 eggsHanns.G, Ihardly knew ye

Pros: Amazing color depth for the money.

Cons: Godawful internal speakers, no HDMI, backlight tubes burn out WAY too soon.

Other Thoughts: Purchased in August 2009; upper backlight has apparently died today, March 20th 2011.

Based on other reviews, I'm not holding out much hope for a positive resolution from the manufacturer; here's hoping that I'm wrong. I should've bought the Asus...
