4 out of 5 eggsMy best monitor just died

Pros: This monitor has been great. It does exactly what the specs say it will do and it does it beautifully. The display is crisp and clear and the colors are sharp.

Cons: It just died. I was in the middle of editting a document when the screen just went blank. I turned it off and back on and I get the display for about 3 seconds (longer if I leave it off for a few minutes, but no more than about 7 seconds). I'm sure this is a matter of bad capacitors, but this thing shouldn't have died after only 2 years.

Other Thoughts: I'm looking, but not finding an online fix. I replaced the caps in a LG Flatron that died and it has worked great for years. If I could just find a repair guide for this Hanns-G, I would be set.

2 out of 5 eggsWorst customer service

Pros: Great looking monitor while it laster

Cons: Customer service sucks
prone to having dead pixels
only 1 year on the screen 3 years on everything else

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor back in nov'10. Put it through it's paces and about a year later the monitor is just white screen. I e-mail Hanns-G no reply. I call them to point them to my e-mail and get assured that a response would be sent to me soon. a week goes by. I call again, this time the guy says here is an RMA and a shipping address, please send it to us. I then ask is it possible to talk to someone who could possibly tell me what is wrong he says he will have his supervisor call me. Another week goes by I e-mail and call again.

I still have not heard back it's been over a month, I want to know if it's worth my money to send this monitor in for 60$ when it might not even be covered. I will never ever by a Hanns-G again.

2 out of 5 eggsNo more Hanss-G monitors for me

Pros: Inexpensive worth the price if it lasted longer than 18 months.

Cons: Warranty says 3 years / 1 year screen. As not much can go wrong beyond the screen this is essentially a 1 year warranty

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of C.R.A.P. in less than 2yrs

Pros: Well yeah while it works it's great but less than 2 years for $190 cmon there's better for less.

Cons: Bought in Nov '10 it just croaked on me May '12 Somthing happened at the bottom corners of the screen and now it looks like screen burn of about 3/4" high and 4" long on both corners runing horizontally toward each other. Funny one looks like an aligator sorta and the other one looks like a platipus. No color in those spots anymore just shadow black burnt screen look.

Other Thoughts: This is what you get for going CHEAP or buying a non-name brand and best quality by the people. I'll never buy another one of these and not even going to waste my time and MORE money shipping it back to the MFG for what could be 6mos until another issue with it. I always say when it's gone it's gone no use bringing it back to life (unless it's a family member of course). ;)

2 out of 5 eggs3 dead pixel lines annoying

Pros: good video resolutions
energy saver
good inputs

Cons: dead pixels lines after 1.5 years of use
aweful speakers

Other Thoughts: Bought this on Nov 2010. After a year and a half of use, three dead lines of horizontal pixels about a 3rd of the way from the bottom of the screen.

2 out of 5 eggsBurned out in 2 years

Pros: It worked great for 2 years.
Was a good price and good size for the time when I bought it. Colors wern't great but good for a lowend model

Cons: Alot of backlight bleeding
buttons along bottom are awkward to manipulate.
The usual monitor speakers that have horrible sound.

Screen gave out after 2 years - Solid white screen.
HannsG/Hannspree Tech support would not cover with certainty their warranty. You pay out of pocket to ship it to them (and they have only one office in California, unlike other companys that have many more local places). Would charge undisclosed ammount to repair and return. Hardly a good guarantee. Way to stand behind your product.

Other Thoughts: I was enthusiastic about this company untill problems arose, and they refused to take care of the issue. Ill give my buisness to a better brand next time, to avoid gambles. Asus', Acers, Dells, etc.

Having to spend $100+ just to get your "under warranty" 2 year old Monitor >possibly< fixed is pointless. May as well buy a new one, from someone else.

3 out of 5 eggsHalf Awesome

Pros: I purchased two of these with my 2010 christmas bonus. They've served me very adequately in a dual monitor setup. I'm not a visual aficionado, but the colors look nice, and I've never had any problems with video or anything. Considering the price, I've been extremely pleased with their performance over the last year.

Cons: Two cons, one minor, one major enough to drop the review from 5 stars down to 3.

First, as a minor critique, the monitors become very dark when viewed from a high or low angle. I know this is commonplace with LCD monitors, but it seems particularly pronounced on these monitors. However, these are the first LCD monitors I've actually owned, so I could simply be unaware of what is typical.

My major complaint is that one of my monitors is starting to have serious display issues after only a year. In the top right hand corner there is a dark red spot which seems to be growing in size. It's only about a centimeter of dark color radiating from the corner at the moment, but it's not going away. I've noticed one other small spot which seems to be doing this as well, along the top edge.

Additionally, the top center of the monitor seems to have developed a massive cluster of dead pixels, but only when viewed from certain angles or on certain colors. Sometimes blue, sometimes yellow.

Other Thoughts: I have not yet contacted customer support to see if the warranty will cover this. I need to find my warranty first, but I only have 2-3 weeks left. If I'm particularly impressed or disappointed with their service on this, I will report back.

2 out of 5 eggsOk but dont last

Pros: It looks great, I was highly pleased with these monitors when I got it, I bought 2 more a few weeks later. Two here and another elsewhere, eyefinity worked great

Cons: They don't last, I have a Samsung monitor I have had for 6 years and to this day works like new. I only have one of the hanns left, One shut off one night and never came back on. Another lasted a few more weeks, I don't have very high hopes for the last one.

When I got the second one, after I set it up I noticed a small crack on the display on the top. I didn't bother with a replacement, it wasn't big enough to bother me and working in the Tech field, I know the hassles of proving a crack that was not user end damage so I didn't bother.

Other Thoughts: Awesome performance when it works, Great pricing but in the end I would pay more instead of having to buy twice

2 out of 5 eggsWorst customer service ever

Pros: Great in the beginning.

Cons: Some dead pixels, and then lost the ability to show the color white.

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this brand. I now own two, and both are problematic. I'll just deal with the first one. Seemed fine out of the box, other than a 3/8" vertical line of dead pixels near the top. Not worth the trouble sending back, so I didn't. Six months in, I added another, and immediately noticed that this one had never been showing white as true white. Shows it as an off-white, dirty-white, or eggshell color. Hard to explain here. Got an RMA # from HannsG (trouble just getting that, frankly) and two weeks later got the monitor back in a plain box, with no paperwork, and neither problem fixed. They can't tell me what was done, or who worked on it. After a month of phone calls (at least 12 calls), and promises (each time) that a supervisor would call me back after investigating, I finally gave up. They simply can't be counted on, so I will never buy this brand again.

Kudos to Newegg (as always) who credited me with a huge chunk of the shipping charges, which they didn't have to do.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap - Exactly what I paid for it

Pros: Very big. Very cheap. HDMI, DVI, VGA, the trifecta of connectivity. 1080 resolution. Lightweight and highly portable, for LAN parties.

Cons: Have owned for about 9 months now... Since new, every 2-3 weeks, when I sit down to use my computer (which is on, not in sleep mode, but has Display Sleep enabled)... I wake the screen, and it either shows no display with an No Signal error message, or it shows a garbled display (like old school VHS when the tracking is messed up). Powering the monitor off-and-on fixes it every time. I guess that's a good thing.

Other Thoughts: I'm worried this won't last, due to the garbled output issue that keeps reoccurring. But for the $200 I paid for this monitor, it's huge, cheap, and does the job I wanted it to do.
I wish it had height adjust... but if I wanted that, I should have paid for a monitor with that feature set. I knew that when I bought it.
This LCD is *not* my Dell 24" or my Dell 30" UltraSharp. But it's a good CHEAP substitute.
Besides, my Dell 30" does not have HDMI or VGA, and requires a dual link DVI graphics card just to get a useable resolution. And my Dell 24" is almost double the weight of my Hanns-G.
You give some, you take some.
