2 out of 5 eggsCheap for a reason...

Pros: Inexpensive. Can pivot into portrait position.

Cons: Sometimes inexpensive is bad...

Viewing angle is a huge issue.
Pathetic max widescreen resolution.
Pixel size.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor as a second screen that goes next to my 30" Samsung 305T. I picked it specifically because of its portrait mode and size. A 19" widescreen in portrait mode is exactly the same height as a 30" widescreen in landscape (about 16" of vertical screen).

Sadly, I didn't bother to notice that the max resolution of this monitor. The closest widescreen resolution I can use is 1440x900 (or 900x1440 in portrait mode). My primary screen is perfect at 2560x1600... so 1440 right next to 1600 just doesn't quite cut it.

But my number one gripe is the pathetic max viewing angle of the screen... especially in portrait mode. You might as well be wearing $12 polarized sunglasses when looking at it. If your POV drifts at all to the left, the screen goes dark and becomes utterly useless. Light distribution is ok, but I have to angle the monitor so that I always view it a little from the right so that I can actually see what is on it. Pathetic...

Pixel size of .284mm is '

5 out of 5 eggsMatching this with a new DELL Ispiron620 i3 2120 HD 2000 graphics

Pros: Just look at it.

Cons: ( I sent a 3' usb extention cable home for the monitor's down link into the back of I/O panel. May not be needed, but I really doubt it.)

Other Thoughts: Love at first sight! I will probably buy another one for myself. My Mom is ready to experience technology in a new light and DELL is all she knows. Replacing everything of hers with new stuff; blue wireless Microsoft technology 2000 keyboard & mouse, Creative T20 Gigawatts 24w speakers, Startech usb 7.1 sound card (plug&play) and 1TB DELL i3 2120 Ispiron w/ this DELL 19" monitor P1911.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: Portrait mode (the reason that I bought this)
DVI, D-SUB, good connections.
Very well built, feels sturdy, the adjustments are sturdy. It does not feel like it will wear out from adjusting the height, or anything else, too much.
Will attach to a monitor mount.

Cons: portrait could be a little wider, web pages (this one) are wider than the monitor.
I use it for coding, so that is a non-issue for me.

Other Thoughts: Ok, I bought this while wondering what D-SUB was, so I purchased a hdmi->dvi adaptor for 5 bucks.
D-SUB is the exact same thing as VGA. I'm a pretty geeky person, and I didn't know this. I'm willing to bet that a few other people don't know this either.

I know, I should have looked that term up, but why can't newegg simply use the most common term rather than something that is rarely heard of?
It's like referring to a taxi cab as a taximeter cabriolet. It serves no purpose other than to confuse people. Maybe that is an exaggeration, but still...

On a lighter note I really wanna get another one of these, but then I'd need a new graphics card, or special adaptor. Maybe when I get my next computer I'll splurge and grab another.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for coding!

Pros: - Allows you to tilt the monitor 90 degree so you can have the equivalent of legal paper in monitor form. This is REALLY a nice feature for viewing long programs.
- USB ports on side keep you from having to turn your computer around to the back if you do not have USB ports on the front (who doesn't have that now though??)

Cons: If you're wanting a higher resolution, or even a clearer picture, and are concerned enough that price isn't an issue, I'd go with the nicer model of this (464-7346). This is kind of a non-issue for me since most of the work I do on a computer doesn't deal much with graphics, at least for the time being.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these monitors at work, and I am about to purchase two of them for home because I love coding with them so much!
