5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Everything.

Large monitor, and I prefer 16:10 vs 16:9 as I'm used to 1600x1200, and with this I can do 1920x1200.

There is nothing about this monitor that I can complain about except that I wish I had 2 more for my desk. :)

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'll be getting another one shortly.

1 out of 5 eggsThey used to be good

Pros: I have three of these between work and home and just bought my fourth. Loved them. Great size, stand is fantastic, good color and viewing angles.

VGA, DVI, and display port have all worked great for me.

Cons: Old model being shipping. They are now shipping Revision A00. What's up with that? They are distinctly yellow - especially when looking at whites and grays. It's impossible to use next to my others which are Rev A03.

Newegg says they're not responsible for the Rev. This simply does not work for photo/video work. What happened to all the good panels?

5 out of 5 eggsIt's the cable

Pros: This is an addenda to my original review.
I have read the other reviews and I too had an issue with DisplayPort. I fixed it with using a VESA verified DisplayPort cable. That is what it takes. I won't use any other from now on. Yes, they cost more, but that is all that I will use in the future. It's not the monitor it's the cable that is giving you problems.

Cons: Needs VESA verified cable?

Other Thoughts: Get a VESA verified cable and be happy!

2 out of 5 eggsIt's lottery

Pros: Monitor was great while it worked.

Cons: Now, has a blue vertical line in the middle. Was purchased in 7/2012 and was used only a couple hours/ day.
Customer service in India , didn't honor the warranty yet. I spent 2 hours via 2 chat sessions and phone call with no result. Because it has no Service Tag sticker in the back, I can only provide a S/N and Newegg order no. Not enough for them! They are asking me about "dell order number". Newegg is trying to help me by contacting them for me.

Other Thoughts: Will report back when i hear from newegg/dell regarding the fix.
The era of electronics lasting 5+ years might be gone.

1 out of 5 eggsDell U2412M

Pros: decent resolution

Cons: Displayport does not work... I have five of these monitors with Displayport issues. Displayport does not detect when a cable is attached. I have tried Dell and no-Dell systems troubleshoot this issue without success. Dell consumer customer service is worthless beyond belief... I have e-mails to prove it.. Don't buy this particular dell monitor... stay away

Other Thoughts: I hate bashing any products, however, when a manufacturer specify a feature that does not work and poor customer service, the only resort is to inform others to avoid making the same mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsWow. These are awesome.

Pros: Where to begin? These monitors are phenomenal.
I have three of these beauties in Surround/Eyefinity and gaming/whatever has never looked better.
Bone stock, the color and contrast is very good, I didn't bother trying to calibrate them, they look good enough already.
There is no noticeable input lag or ghosting (even with overdrive off).
16:10 aspect ratio is excellent for productivity and is not detrimental to gaming or movies.
Even though this panel uses the least expensive variety of IPS (e-IPS) Dell makes a quality product and it looks great! Colors are brilliant (but not oversaturated) blacks are black (way blacker than my previous TN displays) and even though they don't use a diffuser to even the brighness across the display, the variation across the panel is negligible.
Of the 5760x1200 pixels I purchased, none of them are stuck, or dead. Great quality control!
USB hub works fine (and IS powered) though I don't use it much.
Included swivel-stand is awesome. (But they support VESA too if you want).
Includes D-Sub (VGA), and DVI cables.

Cons: Like all but the most insanely expensive panels, this monitor suffers from IPS glow, where blacks have a grey-ish glow in a dark environment. BUT this can be corrected! See my other thoughts below.
The boxes these are packed in are very large, (to accomodate the swivel-stand).
No DisplayPort cable is included.
The viewing angle is acceptable (though 178 is overzealous). Colors aren't disturbed, but the brightness becomes very inconsistent across the panel at extreme view angles. The IPS glow mentioned above becomes more apparent too at extreme view angles. (more extreme an angle than I'd ever use a computer at.)

Other Thoughts: I have lighting behind my screens shining on the back wall. This makes for a better contrast ratio and the IPS glow becomes undetectable. Not to mention that it helps reduce eyestrain. (a $10 fluorescent light Velcroed to the wall makes a for a cheap fix. though I'm thinking about using usb-powered LED strips on the back of the monitors. The built-in USB HUB is powered, so the rear lighting would only be on when the screens are on.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful display

Pros: It's big, it's 16:10 instead of 16:9. Beautiful color, no dead pixels. Nice stand - allows display to be pushed down almost to desktop as well as to be rotated 90 degrees. OSD solution was brilliant - soft buttons right next to physical buttons means no fumbling.

Cons: Backlight takes longer to come on than what I expected. It's LED - why does it take like 5 seconds? Seems like forever.

Other Thoughts: Color looks great to me, but I'm not a color expert, like a graphic designer would be.
I have it next to my old primary monitor - a 1600x1200 display. I'm surprised the 300 extra pixels of width in the new monitor doesn't seem to look like much...

5 out of 5 eggsOh, Boy!

Pros: Size, price, performance, IPS, so MUCH better than what I had!! Don't ask, it's just too embarrassing.
I can read anything on all of the web sites that I go to.
Hint: Don't use cheap TVs as monitors. Yes, monitors are more expensive and worth it.

Cons: I didn't have enough cash for 27" version! OOPS!! That my CON!

Other Thoughts: I have really needed a monitor like this for years and FINALLY bit the bullet. Easily I should have gotten it sooner.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Value, Extra Resolution

Pros: +Ideal screen size for reading large documents/illustrations on an average desk.
+Extra horizontal resolution (1200 versus the typical 1080) has a significant impact on the number of lines I can read.
+Color, brightness were accurate and brilliant out-of-the-box, with no discernible edge or pixel problems.
+vertical height and tilt adjustments are superior to other similarly priced models.
+the anti-glare coating is even and effective.

Cons: -input plugs are vertical and difficult to access. You need to lift and tilt the monitor to get anything plugged in.
-the USB ports are not live when the monitor is off or in power-saver mode. This means phone chargers and input devices turn off when you're away from the computer. This is a problem if you want to wake your machine by touching a key or moving the mouse.
-the eco-friendly packaging means it's a little more difficult to get the monitor out of the box. Not a big deal, but be careful you don't yank too hard and have your new screen fly out of the box!
-The software installation disc is USELESS. It does not recognize the monitor and therefore refuses to install drivers. Instead, go to Dell's website and download the latest driver setup files.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this monitor after years of wanting a 1920x1200 resolution monitor that didn't feel like an excessive splurge. This monitor felt like a great deal and I'm pleased with my purchase. With free shipping and a saver discount, the small issues I have with this model are negligible.
