1 out of 5 eggsDell is Shady

Pros: The glossy screen is exactly what you are looking for when buying a monitor that doesn't have any lights to reflect onto it. Beautiful.

Cons: The problem - 1/3rd of screen burnt in 2 months into purchase. Simple right?

But oh, where do I begin...

Oh, of course. Dell has absolutely horrible customer service with products they sell outside of their own website. It is so bad, in fact, that I would recommend ANY BUYER INTERESTED IN PURCHASING FROM DELL TO DROP ANY AND ALL CONSIDERATIONS IMMEDIATELY.

Other reviewers have complained since I bought mine over a year ago with the same problem. Dell states on their own website that many monitors do not carry service tags, such is the case with this one. If you have some problem (like dead pixels or burn-in [mine was burnt]), you can be confident that you will be up the creek without a paddle in replacing it through Dell.

The reps will act as if they never read you tell them very clearly and very nicely multiple times that you bought it from Newegg and you can furnish proof, and just say over and over again they cannot do anything without a service tag.

So here I am, 1 year later. Thank goodness I bought the extended warranty... and I am hoping to get my replacement much more comfortably through Newegg.

This whole experience with Dell has been a huge letdown. They were the company I bought my first desktop from, with who I often recommended friends and peers to buy from if they did not care to personally upgrade. How different the reference will be now...

Other Thoughts: If you like to take a gamble, a pristine unit would be a lovely addition for your desktop. Although even when I bought this, many warned others to buy a warranty because there are often quite a few problems. Thank goodness I did.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good

Pros: Good resolution for a second monitor which is what i use it for. I was looking for a good monitor for a month then i came across this one and i was blown away by the price and the quality.

Cons: Nothing that i have seen so far. The glare is most likely the only problem i had with the monitor because i have a window to my back that lets light in and produces a glare on both of my screen. But this monitor is still really good even if i have a glare.

3 out of 5 eggsdecent monitor

Pros: Great, sharp, and clear picture. Decent purchase for the listed price.

Cons: I ordered two of these monitors for my editing station and the inexplicable quarter inch height difference between the two is extremely annoying. So I'd call them slightly unreliable in that sense.

2 out of 5 eggsBad after 1 year

Pros: Good quality picture and sharp colors.

Cons: Worked good for first year which is the warranted duration. Heard popping noise followed by degraded picture and color quality after about 13 months of service. It still usable for general web surfing and email, but very limited if good quality graphics is needed.

3 out of 5 eggs2 years at max?

Pros: IPS Panel.

Cons: Not really much, besides the fact it lasted around 1~2 years.

Other Thoughts: I've had three of these monitors and they all slowly died after within the 9th month.

First problems were the ghosting. then dear lawd... all three of them started ghosting. I thought it was just something with my computer so I tested it on two laptops and two other desktops. It wasn't a huge problem with me since it was barely noticeable.

Fast forward around a year and two months.. two of the monitors random distort and sometimes the distortion doesn't happen. If I get lucky it'll stay working at most. Ghosting is still apparent on all three monitors. Although one is still working perfectly (aside from the ghosting.)

Fast forward part two.. nearing two years. Same problems but two of them officially died, and the third one is ghosting pretty hard.

Fast forward until now.

4:16 AM, 1/30/2015.. Officially crapped out. I can take a picture if you'd like and show you receipts on my purchase. At most these monitors can last a good 1~2 years.

Someone mentioned the 7ms doesn't matter if you're playing FPS. Don't listen to them. I've played CS GO with a 1ms (60hz) vs 7ms (60hz). Imo, there's a noticeable difference if you are a hardcore FPS player.

Color and all that stuff is okay, all the pros you've been reading I will support, but just be aware of durability.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor

Pros: Clear image, very slim and perfect for multiple monitor set ups

Cons: Doesn't have an HDMI port but the DVI is basically the same.

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of these and it looks awesome when they're connected together

5 out of 5 eggsLike Getting a Cadillac for the Price of a Pinto

Pros: Found these bad boys at Best Buy for $160 so I bought two of them. I design responsive web sites so I needed to upgrade my monitors to something that would give me good color representation and the DELL S2340Ms deliver that in spades!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: As a graphic designer I'm very picky about the monitors I use in my work and after reviewing many it came down to the DELL S2340Ms. I love how the monitors automatically detect which output I'm using (VGA, DVI). I only have one DVI plug on my graphics card, but I didn't mind using the other VGA one for the second monitor. I can definitely see the difference with them side-by-side, but the picture is still awesome. Using the Standard picture setting is the best for color and the graphics and text are so crisp and clean I don't even need to use my glasses. OSD panel just takes some initial practice, but is otherwise very easy to use. I was very satisfied with the short monitor stands, because my computer desk doesn't have much space below the upper shelf where my printer resides. The stands are very solid and are easy to tilt back and forward. All in all I am very happy with these monitors and I highly recommend them.

5 out of 5 eggsWow! Nice going Dell

Pros: Sleek design, thin, light, great price, better in person than in pictures

Cons: No HDMI input, but they have the DVI. If you want the HDMI input, you have to go with their L series (S2340L)

Other Thoughts: Just received it yesterday. I bought it for my wife's office use to replace her 15". Right out of the box, I was surprised to find how sleek it was and very light. Hooked up, powered on, and it worked right perfectly. View angle is great. Text appear crisp. Colors for work use seem just right. I am still using one of their 22" monitor from back in 2007 and am very happy with Dell's reliability. I can't say enough about how much the monitor looks much nicer than my old one. The glass covers the entire front screen (imagine today's smart phone screen) with a view-able box marked with black edge around the screen.

The other thing I would make a note of is that the stand seems pretty small. Not sure if you can use a third party stand that has more functions. I have an old stand that screws on the back of the monitor with 4 screws, but this monitor has no place to place the plate on the back.

5 out of 5 eggsDell S2340M

Pros: A great monitor considering the price, sure if you wanted to step up to $500 or $600 you would likely get a little better but I'm very pleased with this.

Cons: No HDMI but DVI is fine and I knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: If you're on the fence about this one I'd say do it.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Large screen. Low price.

Cons: I was not able to adjust the yellow tint out of the monitor. Everything started out yellow. Was able to get it to work for a couple of hours, but soon returned back to yellow. Returned for refund. Not taking another chance.

Other Thoughts: Would of been a beautiful monitor if not for turning everything on it to yellow.
