Pros: Awesome monitor for the price.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Bought this for my wife to replce her 20" lcd monitor.
Now she doesn't have to squint her eyes.

5 out of 5 eggsBrilliant Monitor

Pros: The image quality on this monitor is simply phenomenal. Colors are bright, contrast is great. The glass screen helps enhance image quality. The response time is also completely unnoticeable, even for gaming. Sure, it's not 1440p but it's by far the best 1080p monitor I've used.

Cons: It's not 1440, but for the price, can't complain. The glass screen is great, but really shows reflections from windows behind it. So if that might affect where you are putting it, keep it in mind.

Other Thoughts: Monitor is beautiful, used in conjunction with an LG IPS236V. Game, anime, movies. Perfect monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this monitor!

Pros: LED. That's a huge plus for me. It's big. It has three (or four?) different inputs, so you're sure to be able to use it somewhere! Looks awesome.

Cons: It's shiny and reflective. It comes with a power converter cable, which just adds another piece of cabling that can short out over time.

Other Thoughts: Pros far outweigh the cons. Love it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Glossy should not be a con. While it can get a little annoying seeing myself sometimes, its a really little set back because the colors are much more rich and vibrant as compared to my matte anti-glare coating S2421L. I basically got this monitor because i wanted more screen real estate but could not quite afford the 1440p monitors that are out right now. If you want a monitor that can display colors very accurately and very well, and an IPS screen that can play games, even FPS, then get this. even if its 1080p, i dont see any pixels and everything is still pretty sharp for having low pixel density compared to the smaller 1080p monitors.

Cons: i dont see any cons. would have been nice to have an adjustable stand but those are reserved for the ultrasharps..i mean dell needs to have selling points right? :)

4 out of 5 eggsVery glossy but good monitor

Pros: Good picture to my eyes, easy setup and other stuff. Basic stand which I replaced with a stand from an old gateway monitor I owned. Pretty close fit on the standard mounting holes on the back. Good monitor if nothing that totally blows me away upgrading from a 24" gateway lcd.

Cons: Very glossy screen. I knew this going in from previous reviews. Not sure I would have made the same choice having lived with it for awhile. Can practically be used as a mirror. I think I personally would have spent the extra money to go at least to the 1920x1200 resolution version if not all the way up to the super high res one.

3 out of 5 eggsUneven light

Pros: Gorgeous and big

Cons: Uneven light across the screen - thanks to Dixon and others below for pointing it out - it is very subtle (I had not noticed it) - but the left 3/4 is a little dimmer and yellowish, and the right 1/4 is brighter and blueish. This is not for a photographer needing full control in editing, but it will work for me on routine office work and viewing the occasional photo (plus I'm past my 30 days).

Other Thoughts: I'll keep it and generally enjoy it, but for $300 the light should be even. Hopefully I'll forget about it over time.

2 out of 5 eggsTried two - returned both

Pros: This monitor has a lot of style. The glossy screen should not be a con because people should know what they're buying. In my space the glossy screen was perfect. I loved the look that it gave the image.

Cons: Like a couple of people said below this, the monitor suffers from about one quarter of the right side being brighter than the rest...It is very subtle - but definitely apparent. Take a picture of the screen with a white background and it's even more apparent. I'm guessing some people have not even noticed it. You really have to get a white background to see the difference. But if you're editing photos you can see the shift in color and brightness as you move the image through the affected area. My research tells me that it has something to do with it being under-powered. So I'm batting .000 for this monitor and going to try something else...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This monitor has nice colors. I was worried about it only being 1080 but it works well. I like how every thing looks bigger than if it were to use a 1440 monitor. You can notice the individual pixels if you look very hard at circles. A lot of people complain that it is glossy but I like it very much. To me, it feels as reflective as my iphone. the screen is also very thin. i bought mine for 300 usd and I am so far very happy with it.

Cons: I would have liked to change thing like the dynamic contrast on and off in my personal setting for the monitor. I am not taking off an egg because it is still new and I may have just over looked something that lets me do it.

Other Thoughts: I like the touch screen buttons on the monitor. It feels very sturdy and has a heavy feel to it that I like. Some monitors feel like very cheap toys when you hold them. It can be mounted with a vesa mount. and the stand comes off with push of a button. Underneath is the mounting holes. Very nice feature!!

4 out of 5 eggsNice quality monitor

Pros: Great monitor, love the flat panel, easy to view. Was impressed with the quality for the price.

Cons: To get the 5th egg, this monitor needs a height adjustable/swivel stand.

3 out of 5 eggsDell S2740L (HDMI)

Pros: * Image quality.

* Comes with software which will auto adjust the displays color, brightness, and contrast depending on the application you are using, it can also create screen positions for open windows dragged to certain parts of the screen.
* HDMI, DVI, and VGA.
* IPS Panel, LED Backlight.
* Price, at the time I bought it. ($300)
* 3 Year Warranty?

Cons: * The screen is brighter in the top left corner and darker in the bottom right, as others have pointed out.
* Minor ghosting.

Other Thoughts: * The screen is slightly more reflective than standard glossy.
* Not really sure how the 3 Year Warranty works, when I check the monitors service tag on Dell.com it says I have until April 7, 2014.
* The monitor comes with a VGA cable, and a USB cable for the USB ports on the back, this is visible in the pictures Newegg has provided.
* HDCP is supported on HDMI, according to my system.
* The included softwares preset colors for applications seemed to be off so I switched it to manual and disabled Game mode for fullscreen Direct3D applications.

I don't know if I can recommend this display due to the screens inaccuracy in the corners, perhaps it was just a fluke with one of the batches that Newegg received, the ghosting is minor and not really noticeable, other than that the screen is good.
