2 out of 5 eggsHorrendous Backlight Bleed

Pros: Near perfect calibration out of the box.
No dead pixels.

Cons: Backlight bleed in lower left corner is absolutely atrocious. As I have come to find out from googling, this problem is far too common in this monitor. A shame as everything else is near flawless.

2 out of 5 eggsNot sure why everybody raves about this monitor

Pros: Resolution is very impressive
Color fidelity
Very bright
Monitor stand is very flexible (Rotate, Tilt, Swivel, Pivot)
No external power brick (built in PSU)

Cons: Major IPS Glow (May have just been my monitor which had some carrier damage)
Strange diagonal banding with solid colors
Bad quality control (Of two monitors I got from Newegg, one had a manufacturer defect)

Other Thoughts: I am not amateur with technology as I have access to a lot of high quality displays through my work. This monitor has some very quality features about it, but I decided after getting two defective displays, it was best to go elsewhere. The IPS glow is really unacceptable, and the diagonal pattern is minute, but distracting to me. Maybe you'll have better luck that me.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic monitor

Pros: IPS - 2560x1440 - warranty
stand allows for height adjustment, tilt, and pan to a reasonable degree

Older games can run at 1920x1440 - an old 4:3 CRT res that fits well with the native res of this monitor

Cons: didn't come with a DP or HDMI cable, but I guess that's to be expected for the price

Other Thoughts: Makes any TN or 1080P panel immediately seem archaic. I got this panel at 585 - a good deal

A big advantage of its cheaper korean competitors is that this monitor has a real warranty

5 out of 5 eggsEverything I wanted it to be!

Pros: No dead pixels, beautiful picture quality, great factory calibration (saturation is excellent, backlighting comfortable on the eyes, colors very accurate), very functional stand that is stable, good response time, quality feel, USB 3 hub built in, resolution provides large desktop space, great for gaming despite cautious reviews, excellent viewing angles. Can't wait to start photoshoping!

Cons: Monitor has to come off its stand to be positioned in portrait. It does not rotate to that position. On the bright side stand is quick disconnect from monitor.

Other Thoughts: I came from a triple asus 23" LED surround setup. Three screens was fun but this screen gives me a larger screen to look at also provides me with a color depth and clarity that my asus LEDs just could not. 2560x1440 also seems to be a great sweet spot for gtx670 SLI allowing me to max all my games (bf3,bl2, tomb raider, wot, etc) and get excellent frame rate. No regrets leaving surround. Somethings to note about triple monitor gaming is: the center screen is your primary focus so if you use 23/24" screens vs a single 27" your main focus is much smaller, you have to process 6mp of res vs 3.6mp with this screen that seems to equal 30fps or so with gtx670 sli on same quality. Even with three screens I felt like the setup was too small despite the aspect ratio advantage. Screen is great for gaming don't be scared. BF3 and CS:S both played excellent. Small motion blur but no ghosting. I feel average user wont even notice the very slight motion blur.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Monitor

Pros: Really, really great color and clarity. Side by side with a cheaper 25.5" Westinghouse monitor, the difference is extremely easy to see. The colors are truly fantastic. There's a lot of contrast, and it's plenty bright enough. Well worth the price difference for the most visible part of your computer. I did a test for dead/stuck pixels and I couldn't find any.

Cons: Because of the large variety of adjustments available (Height, Pivot, Swivel, Tilt) it is actually pretty difficult to get the monitor to be level. The swivel is very nice, but the pivot makes it actually pretty difficult to get it parallel to the ground. The monitor is very large obviously and fairly heavy - but the adjustments were not very stiff. There's no lock that I could find, and I worry that in a few years gravity will take its toll on the adjustments and it will be impossible to position properly. Maybe it's better suited for wall mounting.

4 out of 5 eggsLove them!

Pros: Lightweight, low power use, cool operation (i can feel the heat output from the 24" I have beside it, but nothing from this guy), great colors

resolution is great, took only a few days to get used to the smaller text

Cons: unable to do full resolution on HDMI. I don't really care about that but it is worth taking an egg off as there's no reason for this when other 1440p monitors are capable.

Quite addicting moving up to this size (con because I "had" to buy one for home after using it at work)

Other Thoughts: I own two of these, one at work and one at home. After 2 weeks of use at work I bought one for home. I was hesitant to buy the one for home after reading the negative reviews but then realized oh yeah, I own one and love it why am I reading reviews...

I don't notice any color issues or light bleed, but I'm also not looking for it. I played through far cry 3, and some crisis on the home monitor and had ZERO issues/complaints

I have this on an ergotron dual monitor arm at work without any issues (it's almost lighter than the Dell p2414 I have on the other arm)

5 out of 5 eggsPhotos, games and Blu ray

Pros: This monitor is a fun monitor all around watching movies playing games and anything that I or my kids do is so colorful. :)

Cons: No - had to write that to continue.

A bit expensive but all these 27" IPS are about the same. This one came with extra features for the same price when I compared it to other monitors just like this.

Other Thoughts: This looks so good on my desk they did a good job with their design.

I really enjoy watching family photos.

5 out of 5 eggsImmersive colors

Pros: College student next year and looked at monitors that will help me with my graphic designs.

Other friends suggested this monitor who are in the same interests as me. Photo editing in Adobe is impressive. The colors seem to stand out and very accurate to detail.

The new AH-IPS panels are an upgrade to the other types of IPS panels. PLS did come out with some good panels and the AH-IPS is a step above.

No dead pixels, minimal back light bleed 1" bottom right and the normal IPS glow very minimal. Perfect screen displaying colors anywhere on this monitor.

Can't wait to get started and I'm more than equipped at sRGB pre-set which is factory pre-calibrated for EACH specific monitor. In other words accurate colors out of the box even for those without calibrating equipment.

The side USB ports make it very easy to have two in at the same time. Transfer files, copy, drag homework and photos. So very convient, other monitors lack USB ports and the ones that due lack 3.0 USB speed. Nice job DELL keeping up with technology while other vendors are skimping by with old USB ports on new monitors.

Blu-ray is crisp, no color retention or wash. Movies do not ghost or over shoot at all. Great action and 8ms response time GTG.

Lighter AG grain than previous DELL models and equal to semi-glossy grain as Samsung and Asus. I see no cross hatching on this model unless I'm two inches from the screen and looking directly downward at an angle just above the top of the monitor. It was my biggest concern which turned out to be my least as it was not even a problem. I think a lot of people exaggerated or quoting older models when you hear them talk about cross-hatching.

Cons: The two USB ports on the side which are easy to access use 2.0 USB and the bottom two USB ports are 3.0 USB. They should have put the 3.0 on the side of the monitor and the 2.0 underneath.

Other Thoughts: I'm sure DELL made this to be a workstation but the also made this a great gaming monitor as so many other previews have suggested. It's totally true. Missed the sales but still worth it. For work or play it's top echelon of displays.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent screen for yesterday

Pros: Highest number of vertical pixels available for a semi-reasonable price.
Factory color calibration--color accuracy.
Quiet
Height adjustment and rotation capability
All surfaces matte--very low reflections
Lower resolutions scale well
USB 3.0 Hub

Cons: No DP cable included
HDMI 1.2 input does NOT support native resolution at 60Hz
Large pixels are quite visible
Screen door look - diagonal lines
Control buttons
Over 3/4" of bezel on all sides.
Fairly low contrast
Default setting is too bright
High latency

Other Thoughts: Using this with a Intel HD 4000 PC and the native resolution of 2560x1440 can be used with a single-link DVI or HDMI by creating a custom resolution with a 40Hz refresh rate. Neither Dell nor Intel document this support. The single-link DVI connection defaulted to 1680x1050@60Hz, and the HDMI connection defaulted to 1920x1080@60Hz.

Resolution is too low for good text clarity in Window 8 Modern UI. Ultra HD displays will hopefully soon make these low resolution displays obsolete. It's resolution, size, and aspect ratio work well in old Windows desktop pps (The half-page snap view works very well.)

4 out of 5 eggsQuality is Ok

Pros: What I like about this monitor is that its a huge screen. Lots of pixels makes things very clear and sharp. being that its 100% sRGB is good because I use it to be able to editing photos in lightroom and export to sRGB where I then send to an outside lab to print. The prints match exactly if you did calibrate the monior.

I skipped using the sRGB mode completely and calibrated using the standard mode. I don't trust preset modes even though they say they are calibrated from the factory, from experience, its not near where I want to be when I print.

The OSD is very easy to use, giving you many preset modes to use, ambient light automatic control although again, being a photographer I turned it off and use my own brightness level to 120cd/m2 to get accurate monitor to print replication.

Theres 2 USB ports on the side which are helpful and awesome but lacks the card reader - we'll get to that later.

I use this side by side with my Dell U2410 which is a wide gamut and saw very little noticable different in colors. Obviously you will have a different from the U2410 to the U2713HM because the U2410 is wide gamut and this is 100% sRGB. But comparing an export from Lightroom 4 file to sRGB JPEG and putting them side by side there was no difference that I could tell or my clients could tell either if I were to print and deliver to them.

Cons: No Card Reader - I really like the card reader option on the U2410 that I have. If you want a card reader on this style monitor you have to dish out the big bucks for the U2713H which is the wide gamut version.

Mines arrived showing some redish hot spots on the lower left. Watch out for this probably caused during shipping and handling.

Compared to other smaller Wide Gamut monitors, this standard Gamut sRGB monitor price is a bit high. We're talking 24" WG monitors not 27".

Other Thoughts: If you are a photographer but don't want to spend big bucks on a 27" version Wide Gamut, go ahead and consider getting this one. I don't think you will be disappointed. The only reason I would say to go with a Wide Gamut monitor is if you are going to utilize full color space of aRGB, enbabling atleast 10bit channel x 3 (R G B = 30), and have the hardware that supports it (video card that can support 10bit color), and applications that support it. Otherwise, you will not take advantage of a wide gamut monitor and should consider getting a very good quality sRGB IPS monitor like this one.
