Pros: - Rev A01. I received an A01 revision Mar. 2014 manufactured version and that seems to be one of the keys to it having worked well.
- Get your own proper displayport cable to drive it.
- Works flawlessly with 2014 Macbook pro running at 60Hz and full resolution.
- Everything looks great

Pros: It's not a bad monitor, great true-to-life color, but nothing more than that.

Cons: Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) on my 1080p monitor looks just as good as this monitor does in 4k, maybe even worse imo.

Other Thoughts: I'm completely unimpressed with 4k monitors at this point when there is DSR currently availible. Not only do my GTX 980 ti's in SLI run games with a higher fps at 4k scaling, I think it looks better on my current 1080p monitor when scaled to 4k over true 4k. True 4k for me just isn't doing it. Everyone do your self a favor and save $700 buy a 1080p monitor and just use DSR. There is VERY LITTLE DIFFERENCE to the naked eye.

Pros: Now, 60Hz works in Portrait mode, 2160 x 3840.
Now, power·cycling the monitor causes no problems.

I updated my graphics driver
( Intel Core i7-4790s, Intel HD Graphics 4600 )
using the "Device Manager", Windows 8.

Latest update: March 3rd, 2015 ( this year ).

The "DisplayPort v1.2" cable that came with the monitor
was broken; so I bought a new, much better one.

Cons: No Cons.

Other Thoughts: IPS colors rock!

Pros: Text looks gorgeous. Great color accuracy, not bad for gaming.

Cons: Software. Sometimes have to power down entire computer, flip PSU switch off, power it back up to get display to show up. Windows won't render properly, OS X has issues with resuming from sleep. Linux sees it as 2 tiles due to how Dell configured it.

Other Thoughts: If Dell fixes their #$@%#$% software and provides stable firmware updates, this could be a great display.

Pros: 2160 x 3840 pixels, 60 Hz, IPS, DisplayPort 1.2 .

Cons: Dell sent me a bad DIsplayPort cable.

I was having serious problems until, one day,
I decided to replace the cable.

Be sure it's 4K, 60 Hz rated... with thick, good shielding.
Do NOT buy a lower-rated cable.

Oh, My, Ｇod... did that make a difference ? ! ＯＭＧ.

Before, I had numerous failures,
including garbage on the screen;
the monitor would occasionally force low-res, low Hz, etc.

The original cable had bent pins and the like... really bad.

Why did Dell give me such a Ｃrappy cable ? ?
Dell's cable is half the width of the $9 one
that I bought to replace it ( same day shipping, from/to Seattle ).

Pros: Excellent fit for purpose. Works well with my MBP Yosemite at 3840x2160@60Hz under Display Port. Happy with the IPS panel color over older TN panels.

Cons: It has a USB hub on the back, but its unclear why it wasn't extended to the side for more usability.

Other Thoughts: For my desk, this monitor came off the arm and went onto a VESA mount right away, so I can't comment on the usability of the stand. It didn't look as impressive in terms of its ergonomic adjustment ability.

Pros: the resolution and color reproduction are amazing. i've never seen a monitor where the colors are this good - i always calibrate my monitors so they look half decent, but this monitor starts out really really good from the factory.

built-in usb3 hub is nice to have.

Cons: there's a noticeable amount of backlight bleed off axis - so if you look at the screen at a 45 deg. angle or more, the background won't look black.

Other Thoughts: i found that cpu integrated graphics is still pretty buggy - definitely put this monitor on a discrete video card to get 60Hz support over displayport.

Pros: Amazing display. I really think that the 15" Retina MacBook sets a high expectation, this display exceeds that expectation. The single best display I have ever seen in my life. And it's somewhat affordable. USB Hub, dual DisplayPort input with clever cable included that ensures you'll be set to go.

27"+ displays are just not polite on a desk, this awesome thing does the amazing thing of really making it possible to have a nice size display that doesn't clutter a desk while having the absolute best quality available. The USB 3.0 hub also reduces clutter.

My aging and inexpensive Radeon HD 7870 runs it great after updating the video card driver. Initially this basic video card only ran it at 30Hz, but now it's 60Hz and I'm loving that. Will be looking to upgrade video cards a number of times over the expected lifetime of this display.

Handsome case, looks far sleeker than my U2711 (which in itself is an awesome, sleek display).

Cons: Ridiculously, SEVERAL people have found it logical to reduce it's overall rating of this product because their video card (or windows) doesn't support 60Hz on portrait mode. As if somehow that was something that this monitor has anything to do with.

I enjoy smaller, affordable laptops and unfortunately I don't know of any that can drive this display at 60Hz yet.

Sluggish overall. Most 1080P displays are fuzzy as hell but also fast. I think the coming years are going to be great for display technology.

Video card companies have been rebranding old technology for years, and it has been fine because games are designed for XBOX 360 anyway and they looked great, but now, with 4K we're really do some updates. But I'd call that another plus of this display. It promotes progress.

Other Thoughts: Everything about this display is of a flawless quality. It's not comparable to any other product of any brand in that regard. It's not pretentious and sleek like an Apple product, instead it ships in a secure, plain box, and unlike an Apple product it is designed to last five or ten years.

Truly, no corners were cut on this product, I'm really glad I didn't wait for 2nd gen because this is already the display for me. 3-year warranty is amazing too, because if I can have this display for JUST 3-years I'll be thrilled with the money paid. More than likely it'll last 6-10 years.

Brightness range is incredible on this display. Truly. This is the one thing to have on your desk. I am not easily stunned but everything about this display is just so thoughtfully made, so flawless.

Two DisplayPorts: One for your 15" retina MacBook, one for your desktop PC. And USB 3.0 built-in for additional tidiness and awesomeness.

At $800 or less, there are few things I could recommend more for the money. If we're talking about fine electronics, and if you have a 15" retina MacBook, a latest model Dell 15" XPS, or a 14" RazerBlade or anything absolutely awesome...this is the display to get.

I'll add too, that the 24" size works out really quite well for this resolution. It may seem small, but it's actually quite large compared to a 11" - 15" laptop with 4K range resolutions.

In an ideal world, there would be a display out there that was 2560x1440 in a 21"-24" size range, in the $400-$500 price range because then you could really pair it to just about any great laptop and be good to go. That's too obvious and will likely not happen for several years.

I was waiting around for my "perfect" monitor... like I said, 23", 2560x1440, and $500... but you know what? Yes, that would be more compatible with more devices, but at $800 this is actually even more perfect. And it's not a daydream, but an actual awesome thing on your desk.

I also wanted to know, and had no way of knowing this pre-purchase:
This thing is a plug-and-play monitor at 30Hz, so you can plug it in, it'll work even if you don't have an amazing laptop (still has to be somewhat amazing to have DisplayPort).

Wow. Few things I've ever bought really merit a 5-egg rating. This by far does.

Pros: Make no mistake about it, this is one hell of a display. Sure I need dual GTX 780s overclocked to get great performance, sure it requires quite a bit of fiddling to get the DP 1.2 happening, but its great.

The good: It will blind you with it's brightness. 100 brightness is really intense. I tend to set it around 65, anything else is just too bright. I bet you could use this outside in direct sunlight if you wanted to, and still see it very clearly. The stand is pretty well built, but it does jiggle a little bit. Not that you will notice it unless your table shakes. It moves in every direction you could ever want so that's good. It's a 4K IPS display, which is great, but it's also a GB-r-LED backlight made by LG, which I must say does improve it's color reproduction quite well, although not as well as Sharp's 4K display which uses some other tech I don't remember what it's called. Anyways, it's super sharp, and while some may consider the 8ms response time slow for games, I find that it's just fine for me, and it's just brilliant for photo editing.

Cons: The bad: It kind of hurts to look at. After a few hours I notice a good amount of eye strain. I'm not quite sure why this is since it's an IPS panel and at such a high resolution I would assume that my eyes would have to work even less, not harder. Perhaps it's the smaller text? Although I don't feel like it's hard to read... Anyways, that may prove to be a problem since I work as a programmer, designer, and photographer and stare at the screen 10+ hours a day. So that's the worst problem. The 2nd problem is that when you sit directly in front of the display, you can notice the color on the left start to go very slightly red, and the color on the right go very slightly blue. You will probably need a trained eye to see this, and it is a common problem among most displays. It doesn't really effect anything, since who looks at the very far left and very far right when editing photos or video (when you need great color reproduction) anyways, but I do tend to notice it when programming fullscreen. Just kind of annoying. Then, while not a fault with the display, there's just so many apps that don't run at 2x to work properly on the increased resolution on Windows. Chrome is one of these apps that is very uncomfortable. You can run it at 150% zoom, but that will mess you up when developing responsive design and trying to get your breakpoints. It just doesn't work like it does on a Macbook Pro Retina and auto adjust for the resolution. You can blame Microsoft for not including APIs for high res displays, not Dell. But still, it's something you should concern yourself with.

Other Thoughts: When you start editing your photos or video on this display, you will be amazed with that 4k resolution. When you play a video game at 4K all maxed out (you will need some serious hardware to do this fyi) you'll want to play the best looking games just because. But, I must say, it just might not be that time yet. Overall, it's good enough for me to want to use every day, but the annoyances that come with it make me feel like it's not quite there yet. I would say we are 80% of the way here, and I can't speak too much for the $3k displays at the next level up, but back down with us average people where we don't have the money to afford something like that, especially if you want a multi monitor setup, you might want to wait a bit for these to come a little more down in price.

Pros: It's IPS, so colors "remain true" ( i.e. they don't shift ),
no matter their screen location .

When you're 12 to 18 inches from the screen,
as I am, the high resolution is much appreciated.

It swivels portrait, so you can view -much- more text
when editing and/or browsing...
and there's more than enough room to watch
a 1080p video at the botton of the screen too.

Cons: When swivelled portrait, as mine is, it's 29 Hz only;
i.e. videos are limited to a jittery 29 fps,
no matter how good your video card may be
( $430, Quadro K2000, or $160 Quadro K600 ).

When a video pans a scene, it looks -bad-, jittery.

To get the portrait mode option, you must
set the monitor to DisplayPort 1 ( not 1.2 ).

Obviously, this is -bleeding- edge tech,
not quite ready for prime time.

Other Thoughts: I can't wait until better/cheaper 4K/UHD,
185 dpi, IPS monitors, with 120 Hz/fps,
portait mode, appear.
