3 out of 5 eggsRevised review

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Quality and clarity of the screen

Cons: HP Tech Support (India based). Wasted a lot of time trying to get through to the right person. As my previous review mentioned, one of the screens arrived with an internal crack, that HP declared was a customer issue and not covered by warranty. I made 4 to 5 phone calls, each time speaking to someone in India and their "supervisor" who only wasted my time. Compared to all the other monitors that I purchase for my company from other companies, the RMA/repair process appeared to be impossible. About 2 months ago, I told the HP representative that I would remove HP from bidding for servers for my company, which I promptly did. The HP sales person tried to call on my behalf, and also became frustrated.

Other Thoughts: A couple of months later, with this brick of a monitor, and a need to purchase enterprise switches, I decided to call HP again. We purchase mainly HP switches at my company, and I really didn't want to tell HP to go away again. The call started off with my speaking to someone in India, but this time, within 10 minutes, I was escalated to someone in America (Canada actually) eventually who could help get me a replacement monitor, since HP can not repair the monitor. The replacement monitor arrived, and was a demo unit since they could not give me a new monitor. Which made me happy compared to having a brick that I paid too much for.

I posted my first review prior to starting the call to HP for the 5th or 6th time, but this time I ended up with a working monitor. I'm not sure if I will purchase another HP monitor due to their standard policy, but I will purchase HP servers and switches (but not their printers or laptops).

1 out of 5 eggsHP sucks

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Quality and clarity of the screen

Cons: One of them arrived with a crack in the display, but no physical damage on the monitor. Talking to HP, they said it's not covered under warranty. I'm never buying another HP product since this is how they treat customers. I spent 1 hour on the phone with someone in India who was arguing with me, a customer, on why HP should not repair the monitor. Funny how all the other monitors (Samsung, Dell, LG, Lenovo, etc.) give me excellent service and replace the monitor immediately.

4 out of 5 eggsI love it

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Beautiful Picture.
Nice Contrast (deep blacks)
Good Colors
Thin Bezel
Puts my old monitor shame.

Cons: First one I received had a red line through it if you bumped it (connection was loose inside). HP replaced it for me quickly and have had no problems with it since .
Height is not adjustable.
Touch buttons work well, but sure I like them as much of physical buttons.

5 out of 5 eggsPhenomenal Display!!

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: I can't say enough good about this monitor! Glossy screen, out of this world color onscreen, the screen goes almost to the edges, and it even has perfect response time in games. It's light and thin, and uses very little power. Excellent software as well. Got it on sale for $179.00!!

Cons: Not one!

Other Thoughts: 25" is just at the limit for a good 1080P monitor before you need to go to next resolution. Yet, I surely can't tell that the pixels are further apart on this thing. Color reproduction is perfect, with vivid, accurate images!

HP seems to be one of the few manufacturers that understands only a glossy screen will give you bright, full colors. Bravo! Keep making glossy screens for those of us that appreciate them.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Glossy IPS Monitor and Much Bigger Than I Thought!

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: + The 25xi is a really big monitor so no need for the 27xi and is a money saver

+ Clear, bright, glossy and beautiful just how I like it

+ The slight reflections from the glass screen are not a problem at all just keep the room somewhat darkened

+ Love the IPS and edge-to-edge screen

+ After installing the CD driver and calibrating everything picture quality is simply amazing

+ The best monitor I have ever owned and will be purchasing more

+ HP makes some of the finest monitors and you get good bang for the buck

Cons: None for me, it's perfect in my opinion.

Only thing if you get two of these make sure you have a big desk and plenty of space in your work area because these things are pretty HUGE!!!

Other Thoughts: Super high quality from HP and I plan on buying many more of these little beauties!

I hope HP continues to make more monitors like these and just simply improve on the features like including HDMI cables, VESA mounting, USB 3.0 ports, and maybe some digital audio ports, etc.

But other than that, I just love my new 25xi and am glad I chose this one over every other monitor on the market!

This thing is a gem and a beauty :)

Thank you HP!

5 out of 5 eggsVery impressed

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Well packed, easy to unbox and setup without tools. Absolutely gorgeous display, deep colors and the viewing angles go all the way to the sides. Included calibration tools are very handy for getting things dialed in just right for your environment. $190 on sale, over a third off retail sticker.

Cons: It's light enough that it's susceptible to vibration/movement if your desk isn't on a solid foundation. No provision for a VESA mount (although I hear tale that adapter kits are available). While it comes with VGA and DVI cables, there is no HDMI cable. Really, HP? You include the VGA cable that few people use these days, and scrimp on an HDMI cable that would run $5 at most in bulk?

Other Thoughts: There's a driver update available on the HP site that you'll want to use. After installing that and twiddling with the calibration tools for about twenty minutes to get things just so, I was ready to rock 'n roll. Honestly folks, I'm blown away, and I've been using and evaluating monitors for two decades now. My old Asus 23" LED backlit was no slouch, but this is honestly like going from a 2D world to a 3D world. Colors I had never noticed on old images jump right out, animations are glassy smooth. Can stand almost 180 degrees to the side and still see it clearly. Even near full price I doubt you'd find a much better value, even with the warts, unless you happen to work in a very brightly lit area (in which case glare from the glossy screen might become a concern).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: Colors are amazing, So is contrast sharpness and overall presentation.

Cons: None, The "glare" is no worse than any other glossy screen. If you know what those are then you know what this is. Not a big deal for me as the room its in doesn't get too bright

Other Thoughts: Got this on sale during the shellshocker. Well worth the price of admission.

4 out of 5 eggsGlare, otherwise great

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: - Vivid colors
- Smooth picture
- Bright and clear images from every angle

Cons: - Light glare

Other Thoughts: In a dark room, this monitor presents some of the most vibrant colors, and smoothest crystal clear images I've ever seen. However, if you put it in a room with sunlight, the light will undoubtedly make very noticeable reflections off of the screen. The glare occurs because there is glass in front of the LCD, which otherwise looks sleek. Other than that, this monitor is very skinny and stylish.

This review is from: HP Pavilion 25xi 25" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor IPS250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Pros: The output is very bright, and is full HDMI. The side and top bezel are very thin, which I appreciate. Base is very sturdy. Highly recommended!

Cons: None
