2 out of 5 eggsSolid monitor but issues with lower corners

Pros: 16:10, good color, non-pwm flicker-free backlight, no compatibility problems with MacOS, USB hub, good quality stand

Cons: Dead pixel and dark lower corners on first unit received, dark lower corners on second unit. Backlight uniformity was worse than cheap TN monitors from 4-5 years ago on two monitors in a row.

Other Thoughts: It would appear that we have a panel lottery. I tried two different D7P53A4 (HSTND-3771-Q) monitors which had Samsung panels--the Q suffix appears to mean the Samsung LTM240CL01 panel. Both had noticeably (distractingly) dark lower corners. For the second monitor I pulled a calibrated meter and measured 256 cd/m^2 at the brightest point at factory settings (and no color calibration on the computer) when the spec sheet indicates 300. The data sheet for the LCD panel itself says 250 minimum, so this panel just barely meets Samsung's own minimum specification and is nowhere near the typical spec. The lower right corner barely cracked 170 cd/m^2 which is 32% darker than the center of the panel and therefore pretty obvious, like a huge greasy fingerprint. HP also uses LG panels on these monitors. I contacted HP about this with photos and meter readings, I was told 32% dimmer corners are normal. The run-around was to be expected but still frustrating.

There are a few comprehensive reviews online, one of which indicated an LG panel and showed decent uniformity. Other folks are indicating good success with HSTND-3771-W which has an LG LM240WU8-SLD2 panel. I have no other data points other than the two units I received. If these go on sale, I might consider buying them, but right now I'm not feeling terribly positive about the panel lottery situation.

5 out of 5 eggssolid all-arounder

Pros: Solid image quality. Colors and brightness are even edge-to-edge, no tint issues like some of the older models. Great for videos and day-to-day desktop apps, and decent for casual gaming. Nice quality stand, easily adjustable (looks great when rotated for pinball or old vertical arcade games!). Low power, stays nice & cool.

Cons: Lacks HDMI. A bit of corner glow, if you go black-screen in a dark room. Minor, nothing I'd ding it for.

Other Thoughts: Definitely a 1920x1200 panel (lots of online listings are wrongly showing it to be 1920x1080).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great IPS monitor, sleek design, thin bezel and HP quality.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these along with a Planar dual monitor mount (Planar 997-5253-00) and the set up was perfect for my needs. I use it for work as well as day trading, so price was not to much of an issue. Needed native 1900X1200 resolution, so I had to buy a decent set of monitors. I also picked up the HP speaker / sound bar for the monitor. No regrets at all.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Couldn't be happier with this monitor!

IPS panel, sleek design, lots of input choices, and not a single dead pixel on either of the two units I ordered. Very solid construction.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The included stands are very nice, but I wanted the extra desk space. Mounted two of these to a cheap monitor mount (N82E16824994177).

I'm glad they moved the HP logo from the upper bezel (as on the ZR2440w) to the lower bezel.
