2 out of 5 eggsTerrible Off Gassing

Pros: It's cheap and the surface texture is smooth

Cons: the minute you open it you'll be overwhelmed by an awful odor ("Off Gassing") that will linger for weeks. Every entry level Da-Lite I've come in contact with is the same. It's enough to make your eyes water. You do not want to use this in a closed room. I actually hung mine in a garage for 4 days and it still smelled awful

4 out of 5 eggsmostly satisfied

Pros: It's huge, white, and inexpensive. I mean huge. It neatly fills a place near the bottom of the entire price/quality curve, almost as well as it fills a big empty wall. We get a great picture on it from our ~1500 lumen Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 400... with the lights out. Installation was only as hard as I made it. It came with a ~3ft. cord to tie onto the handle, unlike the other... nice not to need a chair for pulling it down, nor to go looking for your own cord.

Cons: This is slightly less reflective than the similar screen it replaced (Panoview 84" 4:3)-- there is a barely noticeable gain reduction. Just as with the Panoview, with less than 1/3 of the overhead fluorescent lights on, there is significant washing-out of the darker parts of the image. This seems to be unavoidable in our price range anyway.

The black borders seem to be painted onto a white base material and there are a (very) few flecks of white showing through, as well as some slightly uneven edges at the border of the viewing area-- but all that is only noticeable under close inspection. Worst of all, there's a pretty nasty dent in the metal housing... don't think UPS could have done that without wrecking the cardboard packaging (which was untouched). It doesn't interfere with the retraction mechanism, and it faces directly away from the audience, so we're just going to let it go. Just be warned, quality control is a bit... relaxed.

Other Thoughts: We're in an office, so there's no need for cinematic reproduction. The primary reasons for running a projector are presentations and informational/educational videos. For that, this does very well. The price is actually about the same as the one we replaced-- it's just as high and now a foot wider on each side.

For anyone with a tight budget, this is great. Just make sure you have enough control over ambient light and sufficient power from the projector. If there's enough intensity, your eyes will see a big gray spot as relatively black :)

Maybe there's some kind of coating to treat this rubbery surface for higher gain...

5 out of 5 eggsI'm in Awe!

Pros: I have been researching screens for quite some time now and decided to go with this one. I couldn't be happier. The screen came well packaged and was pretty easy to set up. My projector puts out a beatiful image on this screen and I love the black border frames on the outter edges. No problems on retraction whatsoever.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: The only thing I could say is to make sure you measure everything out before you purchase your screen. 106" may not sound to huge for a good-sized wall, but believe me it will take up a good chunk of any large wall.
