4 out of 5 eggsNot as nice as Dells

Pros: Mounts to the HP monitors and gets rid of clutter, has two headphone jacks and a tactile volume knob.

Cons: Only 2 Watts whereas the Dell speakerbar is 10 Watts and much louder. I would buy those except by company has boycotted Dell for horrible service. I still have a Dell at my desk and their speakerbar crushes the HP one.

4 out of 5 eggsUse Clean USB Power!!!

Pros: Matches HP monitor, sounds good

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you hear a buzz from the unit at any volume, try a better (cleaner) USB power source. Mine buzzed during use of a USB hub, but when I used my Kindle USB power charger, it had NO BUZZ at full volume. I rearranged my CPU USB slots and go direct to the computer and have zero buzz.

2 out of 5 eggsThe Buzz

Pros: It fits my new HP monitor perfectly and looks good.

It's easy to setup.

Ummmm, it's cheap? (Shipping was about 40% of the total cost.)

Cons: The sound output from the headphone jacks buzzes and crackles. It is very annoying during quiet spots in music or video. I have tried it with different earbuds and headphones, and the static is present with all of them.

You cannot see the On light without ducking your head and looking under the monitor.

The headphone jack nearest the front is too close to the On/Off volume control so that when you have headphones connected to it and try to adjust the volume, you run into the headphone connector.

Other Thoughts: I used another manufacturer's soundbar with one of their monitors for a couple years, and it worked great. That soundbar had an On/Off volume control on the right end and 2 headphone jacks on the left end, with an On light in the middle of the soundbar that you could see from the front. Power was supplied by an AC jack that plugged into the monitor. The sound output was very good.

This HP soundbar gets its power from a USB cable. I think that is what is causing the buzzing and crackling in the audio. When I moved the USB connection from the back of my computer to one of the USB ports on my HP monitor, the static wasn't as bad, but it was still noticeable. I have switched back to using an old external speaker with a headphone jack and the same earbuds. The sound from that setup is crystal clear, but it takes up desk space.
