5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect

Pros: I'm with the last 5star reviewer, I've had five lamps over the past 4yrs and three have lasted over the 3000 hours by a few hundred and one hit 4100 hours. *see other thoughts for the fifth (learnerd my lesson on extending the life of the lamp at least for the SP-4805).

Cons: Price... I bought a, whole, refurbished SP-4805 with a new lamp, extended 2yr warranty, and 2day shipping from InFocus for $30 ($284.32) cheaper than just replacing the first lamp back in 2007. Sounds like a shotgun when they pop.

Other Thoughts: My experiences are only on two SP-4805(replaced with a refurbished one when the lamp went out, it was a cheaper solution, plus having a backup unit is a plus). Maybe running on low power helped the life some but i know for sure never turning the thing off is what kept them going over the estimated lifespan. Even when not watching it, i just let it "sleep" with the screen black (you have one you know the setting). This isn't an LED so all that heating up and cooling down plus the, tiny power, surge you get with anything when turning it on definitely kills the lamp prematurely. Its an incandescent lamp/light, so just like a average domestic light bulb (and proven by the mythbusters, lol) leaving it on 24/7 is less strain on the filament resulting in a longer lifespan.*1 out of 5 only lasted under the 3000 hours so its chalked up to me actually turning that "1" on and off like a normal TV or just a "bad apple" this is the heart of the SP-4805 and for the money it doesn't get any better.

5 out of 5 eggsHas worked great for me

Pros: I am surprised at some of the reviews of this lamp. I have had it for a few years now and have had no problems with it. It has about 600 hours on it and it is still going strong. Maybe my trick is that I keep the projector on low power most of the time. It has less fan noise and the picture is still great.

Cons: None so far. Well, except for the price.

Other Thoughts: I didn't even buy the projector with this lamp in it new. I got it referbished but it has still worked great for me.

3 out of 5 eggsLamp Life

Pros: I dont know about you all- But i have had this current bulb almost a year- and have over 700 hours on it- My last one, i got just over 1200 hrs., Hence I am beginning now to shop for a new one-

Cons: The price of course!! Do you really need to mark this thing up so much- Didn't anyone tell you we are in a recession!!!

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely poor lamp life

Pros: When it works, it provides a good picture (Infocus 4805 projector)

Cons: The catch is, it rarely works. I have averaged 150-250 hours on each of FOUR lamps before they have burned out. I run it in a cool room (65 degrees), suspended from the ceiling, no vent blockage, and only gets 4-7 hours of usage a week. Have not had one last longer than a year. Beware of any "unknown" websites promising a 1 year warranty. A New Jersey fly-by-night company (that sells photo equipment) offered a 1 year warranty on their website, and confirmed it verbally when I ordered, but completely reneged on it when the lamp burned out in 10 months. Infocus will sell a warranty that will cover a 1 year period. Get another projector if you haven't purchased yet.

Other Thoughts: You can always trust new-egg. Don't purchase from unknown and unrated websites unless you want to get ripped off. Buy a different projector unless you like to keep buying lamps.

1 out of 5 eggsVery bad luck with this lamp !!!

Pros: Considering price and reliability - NONE

Cons: Have found that avg. lamp life is under 300 hours, not 3000. Runs hot, will not last, expensive.

Other Thoughts: The idea that you can expect 3000 hours from this lamp is nuts. I have gone through two in IDEAL CONDITIONS and neither has lasted 300 hours. Currently shopping for a lamp with a warranty longer than 3 months or 500 hours. Major rip-off.
