1 out of 5 eggsKey Design Flaws

Pros: Lower cost than competing products.

Cons: Besides the very small vertical adjustment, there is one key design flaw that make this product worthless.

The major issue is that the tension on the Roll Rotation (rotating your monitor to landscape or portrait) is set by a screw which is buried when the monitor is installed. The adjustment screw rotates with the monitor. Adjusting your monitor will loosen the tension screw, every time. Rotating the monitor, even small adjustments, will loosen this screw to the point that the monitor flops around. You must remove the monitor to adjust this screw. Once you have adjusted the tension and re-installed the monitor, any roll rotation adjustment will loosen the screw again.

Other Thoughts: I have owned this wall mount for almost a year, and have been using competing products as well. I don't think it's appropriate to push another brand on this review, but I would recommend you look anywhere else for a mount. Spend another $30 and install a mount you can trust, or run some cash through the shredder and mount your monitor to a box fan.

4 out of 5 eggsGuess where it broke at?

Pros: I've had this since 7/16/10. It's pretty darn sturdy since it's 90% made of metal. It has cable management and the it looks more elegant than blah black (not all of us have every computer part in black).

Lets you turn it 90* and articulate it toward or away from you (in my case, to the left for the 2nd monitor or in front for gaming).

Cons: It's not the easiest arm to install since it requires drilling holes and "threading" the arm into the track (and it gets REALLY awkward when you have a hefty 23" monitor attached to do it).

Like the other reviewer said, 10% of it is made of plastic: the head and neck. It could definitely hold larger/heavier monitors if it were metal.

There aren't enough adjustments for "tension". One for tilt, and the other for neck to move the LCD left or right. Wish it had it for the middle arm joint since you can't swing it with one hand (you need both hands to move it around). The "cable guides" don't fit both a thick DVI and power cord into the slots (I had to use zip ties to hold them in).

Well it the sliding part that goes up and down the track. Go figure, not the plastic parts. Given that the points of contact are 1/2", so it's no wonder it snapped. All I did was try to slide it down the track!

Other Thoughts: The only thing that saved my monitor (it's an Asus 23" 3D monitor!) from crashing down, was my desk and the cables softened the "blow". But this doesn't incur a sense of safety since you'd think something nearly all metal would break at the metal parts.

This arm has a 5 year warranty (10 yr now if you bought it after Jan 1 2011), so I'll call them up and see what I have to do to get a replacement. I'll update this review after I've dealt with customer service to see if they stand behind the 5 year warranty.

I'd still recommend this arm since it's still a nice arm. However, it's not the Ergotron arm that I bought recently that really is much nicer than this. I think I'll buy the "stand/bolt-thru" version of this arm since sliding part goes AROUND a large 2" thick pole to move up and down instead of a 1/2" slide/track.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat design but...

Pros: Height adjustment. Solid metal swing arms. Fits both VESA mounts. Cable organizer built in. Fantastic styling and appearance. Price, price, price.

Cons: The use of plastic on the 2 swivels nearest the monitor and the monitor mount itself, creates flexion when monitor is hanging. It can still be adjusted perfectly level and true, but the plastic bits are very glaring compared to the sculpted curvy metal swing arms.

This unit could easily hold a 30lb monitor if it was all metal.

The wall mount has a bit of rocking to it when the arm is extended. Mine is fastened directly to a stud, but the force of the monitor swinging overcomes the 2 bolts holding it to the wall and allows it to wobble a bit.

I am considering taking the mount down, fastening a strip of wood to a stud, and then bolting the mounting plate through the wood cleat and back into the stud so it can not wobble on the drywall.

The friction screw that controls the rotation adjustment WILL loosen if adjusted regularly. The screw is covered by the LCD which means you have to unhang the screen to tighten it back up

Other Thoughts: This is a very nice piece. It looks really slick, elegant even. I am using it with a 24" Asus LCD. This monitor is at the far edge of its specified weight limit and it shows. I am confident it won't fall but I would pay more if it was stiffer at the plastic joints (metal joints please, more $ I know).

If you need height adjustment or you need something that looks great installed this is for you.
