1 out of 5 eggs64 bit Drivers, none

Pros: I never got it installed.

Cons: No 64 bit driver available.Yes, I search the internet, too. This an "old design" Winmodem that was originally produced for XP 32 bit.

Other Thoughts: Newegg really should have had this information clearly displayed.

2 out of 5 eggsShould have paid attention

Pros: The modem did install. It is working however slow.

Cons: This product is discontinued!! New Egg should have told me this.
I found this out by going to U.S. Robotics website.

Other Thoughts: There were some reviews that said this modem did not work with Win 7. I should have listen. Also, I would have appreciated a "heads up" from NEWEGG.

1 out of 5 eggsFIOS Users Beware

Pros: None

Cons: Warning. This unit will not work if you have Verizon FIOS. I bought it for faxing and it is incompatible with FIOS.

Other Thoughts: Talked with both USR and Verizon and both say it won't work. It sees voltage on the line as an incoming call and will not detect a dial tone. Unfortunately it's beyond my 30 days so can't return it.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Happy

Pros: Rapid Delivery

Cons: Unit did not function from the start. Not getting acceptable response from manufacturer. If I get an RMA it will cost half of what I paid for it to send it back for replacement. Buying a replacement by another manufacturer will probably be cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Installed in XP Pro without a problem. Included software, caller ID and Fax, also installed without a hitch.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed moden to use my computer to receive faxes so I could preview and cut out all the junk to save on paper/ink. Works great. I found that the included fax software works very well also. It converts a word document (and others) into a fax document and sends in seconds. Still have the old fax machine hooked up when I need to scan. I am well pleased.

1 out of 5 eggsBUMMER!

Pros: It would operate in VISTA-32

Cons: With VISTA-32 every time you boot be prepared to see two windows pop-up. The one on the left says "USR MODEM LOADER" and the nest is the orange flashing warning "MODEM R-3 INTERFACE", asking permission to laod the modem. If you click it, it connects as expected. If you cancel it, it won't work. Next time you boot-up either way, it goes through the same nonsense. The left "USR MODEM LOADER" has a red ball icon with USR in it... some of US ROBOTICS doin's or VISTA security?? I have no idea, but UAC will not stop it from happening and the bugger will not just load and be done with it.
What a PITA :0/

Other Thoughts: For anyone with VISTA unfortunate enought to have to use a phone-modem, unless you can figure out how to stop this annoyance... look for another product. If you have a "fix", I would be interested in what it is as I worked at it a couple hours and it REFUSED to co-operate!

1 out of 5 eggsNo 64 bit drivers

Pros: I'm sure it's a fine modem unless you're running Vista 64 (or probably XP 64 but I don't know that for sure).

Cons: No driver support in Vista 64. I mean, come on. It's a stupid PCI modem, how can it not be supported in Vista 64, or any other OS? I checked the USR web page and they show 64 bit drivers "Coming Soon". I called their tech support and the helpful tech (Fred, and he really was helpful, but his hands are tied on this one) checked with the developers. There is no timetable for "Coming Soon". There are no beta drivers available. And the developers, according to Fred, think that this modem works with the 32 bit drivers.

It doesn't. Trust me on this one.
