The Hayes Accura H08-15531 V.92 PCI Data/Fax Modem has a short circuit board and short mounting bracket for installation in low-profile desktop systems. This modem plugs directly into a PCI expansion slot of a low-profile system and does not require a riser card. The modem is designed for use in Windows-based systems with a minimum of a 266 MHz processor. The Model 15531 is a host-based modem, which uses the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of the computer in which the modem is installed to perform controller and data pump functions.
Zoom Low Profile Modem
This review is from: Zoom H08-15531-EG Hayes Accura Low-profile V.92 Softmodem 56Kbps PCI Bus (Plug & Play) Data - V.92, V.90, V.34, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22 A/B, V.22, V.23, V.21, Bell 103/212A Compression - V.44, V.42bis, MNP5 Error Control - V.42, MNP
Pros: So far works ok, but I just installed it today. I have another Zoom modem similar to this one and it has worked for several years being used everyday.
Cons: I have bought several Low Profile modems and they always came with both a Low Profile bracket and a High Profile bracket. This one only had the Low Profile bracket, so I had to borrow the High Profile bracket from another modem which I am not currently using. Also, I originally requested to RMA it because it was not Windows 7, 64 bit ready. However, I found the driver on the Internet at Zoom's support page.
Other Thoughts: I deducted 1 egg because it only came with the Low Profile mounting bracket and there was no mention of that in the details.
