Cable Modem Approvals

Zoom Models 5352, 5350, 5341J, 5341, and 5241 work with all cable modem services in the U.S. and most other countries that support North American DOCSIS. They have been certified by CableLabs, the cable service providers’ primary test lab. This is the only certification required by most U.S. cable services including Cablevision, and hundreds of others. Zoom cable modems have also been certified by Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and the small number of other service providers who require certification beyond CableLabs.

You will find the approved models on the official website of Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House.

On Comcast’s webpage: Under Vendor, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, 5350, or 5352.

On Cox’s webpage: Under Brand, find Zoom. Then under Model, find 5241, 5341,5341J, or 5350.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Wireless router is fast. Works great and easily got service everywhere in my house with it. I downloaded movies and CDs at very good speeds with this router. I never used it when wired to the computer, only wireless, so I'm sure that would have been even faster.

Cons: As one other user mentioned, occasionally you would have to unplug the modem for 10 seconds and plug it back in to restart it because it would get jammed up.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as an upgrade from an older wireless router and this seemed like light speed compared to that one.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: It works

Cons: Little customization available, parental controls are too complex.

Other Thoughts: I originally purchased this because it was rated fairly high at the time. I also thought the customization would be better, but it is not. I does work though, guess I cant complain about that.

4 out of 5 eggsalmost perfect

Pros: Puts out wireless power like a boss. Was running 40megs a sec. Never used the wired. But had a constant 4-8 wireless devices connected ALL day.

Cons: Every one in a while, the wireless would get a bit slow (down to about 5 megs). Unplug and replug 10 seconds later, and after about 30 seconds of waiting for the router modem to restart. And I was running great.

Other Thoughts: Unfortunately. I lived in a home full of smokers, so that didn't help the router modem. And I was running with charter, and lived in the country. So that's probably what most of my problem was. But I moved. And left it there for the people who still live there. I will prolly rebuy this router right now.

1 out of 5 eggsgood idea poor implementation

Pros: It does connect to the internet

Cons: After powerdown, frequently it won't reach DNS servers to resolve names.
Wireless speed is very bad ... Slower than a dialup modem
Common tech support resolution is to eliminate the firewall.

Other Thoughts: If you love wires laying across your house, then this is your router. That is when it let's you get to the internet. I can run a tracert from the router but cannot resolve from my devices. Wired or wireless.
