5 out of 5 eggsNo Hiccups

Pros: Biggest pro is not spending $7.00/mo to comcast for rental fees. :-)

Comcast uses this brand which was the main reason I bought it so it was easy to setup and update.

Cons: none

Had it 6 months now with no issues.

Other Thoughts: There are other brands out there but if they are not on the supported list with comcast you may have issues with updates. To avoid "issues" was the main reason I bought the same model that comcast was renting to me.

1 out of 5 eggsDrops packets on Comcast

Pros: none

Cons: It starts transfers and then stops. I cannot fully load a page with images in a browser. It will not complete the http://speedtest.comcast.net/ download transfer test. It is not that it is slow. It will not transfer more than a few kilobytes. Comcast support says the modem is operating "Fine".

Other Thoughts: No powers switch. You must call Comcast to activate. If you browse to the modem, you cannot login. Neither Comcast nor Cisco could supply a password.

3 out of 5 eggsSpeed or downtime? You decide.

Pros: 340 mbps d/l and 120mbps u/l puts this modem at the top of the mountain, at least at the time it came out. DOCSIS 3.0 was icing on the cake and makes it compatible with newer and future technologies. As always with signals, you don't necessary get your max speed due to things like signal strength (too strong a signal can cause major problems as well as too low).

I have a 50mbps Comcast connection and through speed tests and optimization I can bump it up to 56-60mbps through this modem. As far as speed goes it does what it says, but there is a downside.

Cons: This modem is notoriously known to have connection issues. I was lucky that it was over 1.5 years before I started experience any disconnections, but when it did it came with a whole world of hurt. Every 5 minutes it would disconnect, sometimes it wouldn't comeback on for hours. At times when it was connected my connection was SUPER slow, only pulling like 32kbps (which is seriously like dial-up) on what is supposed to be a 50mbps line.

I was forced to upgrade to the latest Motorola modem to enjoy my internet and haven't regretted it since!

Other Thoughts: Several cable companies adopted this modem as its own so if your cable company dares to put this in stop them immediately! Thousands of others know the frustration this modem has caused. A failure on Cisco's end.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks so far.

Pros: Haven't had any problems with intermittent connections yet. Super fast speeds co.mpared to my old modem

Cons: Comcast had problems activating the modem. Finally worked after letting it sit for a little bit.

Other Thoughts: Apparently needs an update right away, that is what I believe was the problem with comcast's connectivity issues.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid modem once you get it running

Pros: This modem can deliver awesome speeds and is very compatible with my Cisco router. Used this in order to replace the modem from my cable provider and since it's DOCSIS 3.0 I know I'm getting every ounce of power out of the service I'm paying for. Modem is very small and indicators are clear and easy to understand.

Cons: Setting up this little guy was filled with challenges. My cable provider was not a problem, however my phone service was. If you use a VoIP provider (Ooma, Vonage, etc) you need to make sure their hardware is placed properly and configured to allow for Cisco devices. The modem stays a bit warm, but no less than any other modem out on the market. Just make sure you keep it somewhere it can get some air.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!!!

Pros: Advertised Speed when it connects

Cons: Non Existent Support even under warranty.
Comcast diagnosed hardware failure due to intermittent disconnections, went to Linksys support, after a long chat the guy say I need a replacement and redirect me to customer service for RMA, they told me they do not support this product that I have to go to Cisco, then Cisco says they only build the box and Comcast is responsible for the technical support . Why then they sale this on retail stores? Thieves is the only word... go with Motorola

5 out of 5 eggsSub'd in for the Comcast rental modem - no problems

Pros: Hooked it up, turned it on, and - after Comcast did its setup - has been running just fine ever since. Performing great on my 60mb/s+ service.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm really happy that this installed so easy and it delivering the same performance as my previous rental modem. Now I get to save some money.

1 out of 5 eggsDrops Service!!

Pros: The modem is very fast. I was the fastest speed that I have ever gotten for internet.

Cons: The modem continually dropped my signal and I would have to cycle the modem every 5 to 15 minutes.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this modem to anyone. It's to frustrating to have to continually power off the modem and restart it to use my internet. I will be returning this modem for a refund and use my old one for now until I decide to buy a different modem.

5 out of 5 eggsISP DROP-OUTS

Pros: HAVEN'T PURCHASED YET BUT I HAVE A DOCSIS 2 MODEL CM100 FROM NEW EGG AND IT WORKS WELL. TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR I HAD TO RESET IT, I'M SURE IT WAS CAUSED BY COMCAST'S DROP-OUT FOR LINE MAINTENANCE. SO IF YOU HAVE DROP-OUT PROBLEMS IT MOST LIKELY YOUR ISP'S PROBLEM, JUST POWER DOWN YOUR MODEM FOR A MINUTE AND THEN POWER UP. THIS HAS ALWAYS WORKED FOR ME. COMCAST KEEPS TELLING ME THAT I NEED A NEW DOCSIS 3 MODEM, BUT I HAVE THE LEAST EXPENSIVE AND WHEN I JUST CHECKED USING http://speedtest.comcast.net/ IT RUN AT 15 ms PING, 33.91Mbps DOWN, AND 5.86Mbps UP. VERY GOOD FOR DOCSIS 2.0 LINKSYS CM100 FROM NEWEGG ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for Comcast, Bring your own router

Pros: Setup takes only takes a call to Comcast. Gigabit LAN port provides for fast wired speeds.

Cons: Setup takes a phone call to Comcast.
NO user configuration allowed as the firmware is locked down by Comcast. This is just a modem, a separate router will be needed to connect multiple devices.

Other Thoughts: This modem was purchased to be used with Comcast in the Chicago area for Comcast's 25mb service.
