5 out of 5 eggsShocking

Pros: Loved this modem. Ran fast, ran cool and never let me down.

Cons: It's not impervious to the wrath of Gawwd.

Other Thoughts: Died heroically when the house was struck with lightning. I blame the modem due to the simple fact that it was so full of awesome the heavens were jealous of it and had it taken out.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: No problems whatsoever with this modem. Cheaper than Am---on dot com (where I had to return two because of missing items each time). Newegg is the place to go!

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsless than expected speed

Pros: no more rental fee to isp. still works well after 2 years.

Cons: had to reset it once in a while (true problem was never discovered, be it the isp or the modem.)
not much faster than the isp supplied unit.

1 out of 5 eggsDied Young

Pros: Seemed capable, but nothing exciting

Cons: Died an early death.

Other Thoughts: In service slightly over two years, then failed - just out of warranty (two year warranty). This model is discontinued now but its replacements, the 6121 and 6141 have only ONE year warranties. It's not likely I'll be replacing the 6120 with a Motorola product.

BTW, the my old Linksys BEFCMU10 still works fine, and is a trusty back-up... I'm using it now.

4 out of 5 eggsPossible Overheating Problem

Pros: Works great when it's working and it's nice to not be renting from the ISP

Cons: Occasionally (twice a month on average), it disconnects from the ISP (Charter cable) and loses its ability to reconnect.
If I unplug it and put it in the freezer for ten minutes, it fixes the problem, which, of course, suggests a strange overheating problem (if I unplug it without putting it in the freezer, the problem remains for at least several hours).

Other Thoughts: I'm disappointed that I can't put custom firmware on this modem, and that the ISP is allowed to update the modem's firmware remotely, but I've been told that's a DOCSIS related issue, not an problem with this particular modem.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Owned for more than a year and never been an issue. Works with Astound cable in the SF Bay Area. Totally worth buying compared to "renting" a cable modem from your service provider.

Cons: LED's are a little bright, but thats not a big deal.

5 out of 5 eggsInsane!

Pros: Easy to setup. BLAZING fast speeds. Comcast rated at 20MB for which I was getting 15MB at best with Linksys Cable Modem, with the Moto Modem I am running a solid 26MB! Absolutely fantastic modem.

Cons: NONE!
