3 out of 5 eggsThanks Slankky

Pros: Owned this for over a year. Then started having connection reset problems. After reading Slankky's ip flood detection fix I found that mine was on. This was problably done a few months ago when it was factory reset for an unrelated problem. I noticed that reseting the modem would make the setting turn on by default.
Has been working like a charm ever since.

Cons: Not DOCSIS 3

4 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm read the review if your having issues

Pros: Thanks for the info...Go to 192.168.01 with your browser to get to the sbg901, use: admin as user name and motorola as password, go to firewall at top of page, un-check ip flood detection, apply. This should fix most people's connection issues. ALSO for those that are slow to connect you can change the "channel" to auto vs 1-12 once I did that mine connected instantly upon boot up. Was getting 5-10mbps now 15-25mbps upon changing the default

Cons: defaults to "ip flood detection"...I owned it nearly a year before I figured it out (because of a post on here) Thanks Slankky!

4 out of 5 eggsThank you Slankky!!!

Pros: I've owned this for 2 years now and have had connection issues for the past year but have been too lazy to figure it out. Slankky's post SOLVED THE PROBLEM! Thank you so much! I have Comcast and my modem has never worked better! Now it's a great product, before, not so much. Thanks for figuring it out Slankky, you just saved me a ton of time and money!

Cons: Fixed cons

4 out of 5 eggsworks but sometimes an A hole

Pros: nice and fast
-can stream netflix in hi-def on PS3 (wired) and PC (wireless) with rare skips

Cons: -rarely reboots as others mentioned
-slows down sometimes but cannot tell if it's the Access Point or ISP
-worst of all is it takes my PCs awhile to get to a page when freshly booted and ready to go (while connected with full bars)

Other Thoughts: cable internet kinda sucks

---it works though!

2 out of 5 eggsTo fix the connection issues !!!!

Pros: After hundreds of hours of trouble shooting/investigating, I found my connection issues were from this sbg901. Motorola should not have made "ip flood detection on" as default. Go to 192.168.01 with your browser to get to the sbg901, use: admin as user name and motorola as password, go to firewall at top of page, un-check ip flood detection, apply. This should fix most people's connection issues.

Cons: Has caused tons of grief (for a lot of people) from a default setting.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: It is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Cons: Constantly resets itself even when there is a good signal coming from the cable provider. Sometimes it comes back online in as little as one minute, and other times it could take up to an hour.

Other Thoughts: I bought this modem, reading the other reviews and thinking that it was well priced for how good of a modem it is. Then as soon as we plugged it in, the modem would reset itself constantly, at least 10 times per day. This being a brand new modem, I thought the problem had to be with the cable company and their internet service. They came out to my house three times and after checking/replacing the splitters, checking the street lines, and replacing the cable connectors in the wall, we tried one of their modems. Since we swapped out the modems to one from the cable company, the internet hasn't gone down once.

1 out of 5 eggsShort lived

Pros: Fast when it works

Cons: Died 32 days after purchase.

Other Thoughts: I expected more from Motorola as I have had a few of their cable modems. Will not buy again. Went back to my old D-Link Modem, slower, but rock solid.
