4 out of 5 eggsWireless no-go

Pros: Solid performer in the wired arena. Handles the DSL signal quite well and cost considerably less than leasing/buying retail.

Cons: The wireless-N was a complete failure. After a week of dropped signals I switched back to my old G router and haven't had a failure since. I realize that one of my devices is known to have issues with N networks (BN Nook) but there were other devices that had the same issue. I would not recommend this if you are looking for a wireless router.

Other Thoughts: 4/5 because I was not expecting a perfect performance from a refurb. I removed one egg for the wireless router. Modem has not been reset since initial setup (approximately 2 months).

5 out of 5 eggsForget trying to download CD docs etc from NetGear

Pros: It works better and is faster than the Actiontec PK5000, that decided to spend the rest of its existence as a "brick"

I like this DNG2000 right now because the price, small size, very good range, wireless on/off switch, good line filter, compatible with CenturyLink/Qwest ... and did I mention the price? Seriously, CenturyLink wanted $99 to replace the Actiontec, so this deal from Newegg saved me $70! And its a better ADSL modem/router than what was supplied by CenturyLink!

Cons: I needed to set it up manually by opening a browser and putting 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Used UN - admin , PW - password and then let the auto setup option go to work. Can be considered a bit of a pain, but it only takes about 10min. The more painful effort was trying to get the CD image file to open or burn. Skip that and just use the browser option.

Other Thoughts: Works great! I think I will get another as a spare before they run out of stock.

5 out of 5 eggsGood modem so far

Pros: It worked and detected my DSL line in litterly, a minute!
The connection seems to be quicker than my previous Zoom modem, which was fried during a lighting strike.

The firmware/setup was downloaded on my laptop and dragged over via thumbdrive. Neither computer could open and run the setup file. I used the above users instructions of the old 192 trick and that worked well. It takes you right to a Netgear setup menu which is very intuative.
My only issue was with ATT. Since this was not their modem, i had to reset the modem password. 1.5hrs later i was in business and on the web.

Cons: Setup somewhat cumbersome as computer did not recognize file in the zip folder containing firmware.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for ATT

Pros: From what i have read it is a great modem/router but i would not know.

Cons: If you are buying this for att dsl service good luck getting it to work.No manual there was no serial number on the machine to give netgear for any updates and i looked for several days on the net for some kind of setup for att because they would not help because its not on the supported list though i have read where some people have used it with there service but i had no luck.

Other Thoughts: Do your homework... i wish i had

5 out of 5 eggsA great value

Pros: Same great product with a lower cost.

Cons: Posibility that the unit still has problems... but no more likely than a brand new one. Everything is a 50/50 chance.

Other Thoughts: I have always had good luck with Refurbished products from Newegg. They have always been great with support for their products and I rest easily that they would assist if problems arise. This unit has been up and running 24/7 now for more than two weeks with no signs of trouble whatsoever.

5 out of 5 eggsEasy

Pros: Physical connections easy enough; logged into the web app and ran the wizard that made the WAN connections for me (last reviewer is correct in that there is no included CD. But it is not needed. Just go to netgear's site from somewhere else and download the user manual and firmware updates). Very fast connection speeds. Wireless works great all over the house. Much better than any of my ISP provider's modems. Definitely glad I went the custom route. I'm buying another one for a spare. Shipped to me in 1 day (awesome!)

Cons: None yet

3 out of 5 eggsWhooo.....

Pros: It was really cheap because of a promo code stacked on top of it being a refurb. Pretty easy to set up once I got into it.

Cons: Turns out it doesn't come with ANY phone tech support. It also lacked any user manual, quick start guide or set up CD. When I called tech they wanted to charge me for help getting into the router set up screen. Then they insisted I just go online and use the email support that comes with a 30 day expiration date. I explained I couldn't get online because I couldn't configure the modem and they just repeated themselves like a trained Parrot. I tried the old 192.168.0.1 trick and got a log on prompt I started using common default user names and passwords and finally got in. (All this while I was on hold waiting for a supervisor) I found a wizard and in a couple of minutes (with my DSL user name and password) I was connected. Then,,,,,I got to talk to a supervisor. I just have to say my real life user experience was about a 2 only because the outsourced tech support was so ridiculous my wife and I were in tears laughing at them. The unit seems to be working ok. We'll see how it holds up.

Other Thoughts: Newegg as usual gets 4+ stars for service and reliability. I just wish that I could talk to someone in this country next time I need a little support.

For the record User is: admin & Password is: password - on the DGN2000
