1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy!

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: Looks good and has many features

Cons: Constantly disconnects. Have to reset connection with Comcast on a daily basis sometimes 2-5 times a day. Modem is driving me nuts.

Other Thoughts: Don't pull your hair out don't buy this modem.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly android cell phone can connect to 2.4ghz wifi.

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: Easy to setup

Cons: Needs to reboot for intermittent wifi network.
Have to setup guest network to allow device to connect via 2.4 ghz.
Troubleshoot, switching channels and mode as well as trying wpa psk + wpa2 psk. No effect still can't connect to 2.4ghz.
Same device has no problem connect to an Linksys unit with 2.4ghz wifi and identical security setting.
Also at a different home, with exact same cable and home network setup. The C6300 needs frequent reboot for wifi, 2.4 and 5 ghz, to work. I am not sure if I missed something.

Other Thoughts: Wifi setup using wpa2-psk.
V2.01.14 firmware.
Device that can not connect to 2.4ghz includes laptops, kindle hdx, ipads various version.
Any suggestion other then reboot or cycle power would be appreciated.

Thanks

1 out of 5 eggsNeeds a reboot every month or so -- avoid this modem -- look elsewhere for more reliability

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: Good interface, fast when it works, 5G has reasonable range, port forwarding is easy to use

Cons: Reliability is poor! Modem hangs up about every month or so and requires a reboot. Of course, this requires that you be home to reboot it, so when this happens while on vacation and you want to check on cameras, thermostats, etc., this is pretty inconvenient! (Nothing you do when you are not home.) I see others have this same drop-out problem. Not much you can do since Comcast controls the firmware. My mistake for trying netgear again -- last modem from them a few years ago was also disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Anonymous,

We'd like to help with this, and our cable team would like to review the diagnostic logs from your modem to see what is happening. Once you get the logs, you can contact us at netgearteam@netgear.com. Here's how to get the information:

2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for the first couple of months.

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: - Best looking modem/router I've seen
- When it works, it works great.
- Interface has plenty of options and settings
- Super easy to setup

Cons: - Restarting takes a good 5 minutes
- Often drops all my devices from the network (for about a minute or so)
- Interface is very slow and clunky

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Brayden,

1 out of 5 eggsDo not use with Time Warner, support sucks

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: speed

Cons: Device has a buggy firmware and time warner is responsible for pushing out new firmware. They do not make the device.
The support is one of the worst I have had to deal with. Constantly being put on hold. Same questions asked time and again.
I am done with netgear.

Other Thoughts: If I could give no stars I would

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Michael,

We want to take the time and investigate the way support handled your case. We also want to offer you further assistance along with apologize for the trouble. As soon as you get a moment please email us with a link to this review and the current firmware that is running on the C6300.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: None

Cons: The range and the speed are poop. It may as well me a one channel, I have 2 devices that will only connect to the faster 5GhZ channel if the they are about 1-2 feet apart and they only get one bar. Tech support is a joke. I got some guy in India that asks NO technical questions before he just spouts of worthless statements like my Roku is incompatible (not true) When i press him further to actually help investigate he puts me on indefinite hold. Also I did a speed test and this unit was slower that the cisco modem that Xfinity supplied by about 25%

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Ian,

We are very sorry for the way that support handled your case and want to investigate. Please email us with the case numbers at netgearteam@netgear.com-- also include a copy and paste of this review, your ISP, current firmware, and serial number so we can help you as well.

We apologize for the trouble with support and the C6300-- we look forward to getting this issue behind us.

1 out of 5 eggsDevice is not stable

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: Everything in one device, good range, fast, does not get hot, works with Time Warner Cable

Cons: It cannot keep a steady connection. Looking at performance monitor in Windows 10 shows it can only hold a connection for 6 seconds at a time and drops connection for 6 seconds. Since now outside of warranty just Buying another router that's not Netgear.

Other Thoughts: Noticed almost all router makers don't like to release frequent updates for their firmware. Many only make one or two updates. And this is despite security holes in software and complaints of stability issues from customers as indicted but Newegg reviews. Please take your own products you release more seriously. Not the same as making a new toaster.

Manufacturer Response:

Hey Raul,

One thing you can do is troubleshoot from the support page:
http://support.netgear.com/product/c6300

Feel free to open up a topic on our forums as well.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes not support NAS

This review is from: Netgear C6300 AC1750 Wi-Fi DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Router 2 in 1

Pros: Good range, fast wireless speeds, WPS for easy connectivity with wireless devices, USB storage attachment

Cons: Support flat out is worthless! from the moment you call they tell you to call someone else. or check online or its not our problem. They are truly useless. It took 3 trouble tickets and 4 calls to other companies for them to finally tell me that they didn't know what they were talking about an that the product does not support NAS.

Other Thoughts: If not for the outsourced support "technicians" who don't even know what a NAS or IP address is to the lack of instructions with this product it might not be half bad and its not a bad product until you run into a problem. If you are tech savvy and you just need a fast wifi modem/router this is for you. If you are not technical or run into problems save time and return this product now and don't bother.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello John,

We want to investigate your case and also get your C6300 working for you. Please email us with the case numbers support gave you so we can help asap.
Email: netgearteam@netgear.com

Our apologies for your time and any frustration caused.
