5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Does everything its supposed to.

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: It seems when I spent alot of money for a client on a nice US Robotics modem it ran terribly.

So I buy the cheapest modems I can find now and they always work great! Blazing speeds! (for dialup)

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good but incompatible with Audigy SE sound card

Pros: Works great, easy installation, fast connections for dial-up.

Cons: This modem uses a Conexant chipset, and as other reviewers have noted, this causes problems with the Soundblaster Audigy SE. If you are online, as soon as ANY sound is played, the system will crash. I can't say this is the modems's fault, but be aware that this is a known compatibility issue with that sound card for which there does not seem to be a fix (i.e., it is not an IRQ conflict, etc.). In my case, I solved the problem by switching to an Agere chipset based Trendnet modem. (I could also have tried a different sound card).

Other Thoughts: I'm not saying it's the modem's fault for the incompatibility with the Soundblaster Audigy SE. Just something to be aware of.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Reliable fast connections. Don't blame it for browser malfunctions.

Cons: Wouldn't recommend for Vista if using a multifunction printer. This is an End-of-Life product.

Other Thoughts: Support should only be an issue after Windows XP.

1 out of 5 eggsNO CALLER ID

Pros: It's a modem

Cons: I bought this modem because it's specs say that it supported the V92 standard, which includes CID. It does not support CID. The AOpen web site has many support inquiries for CID help. Supports responses all say to reinstall the drivers dated 2003.

Other Thoughts: Caller id is all I wanted out of this modem. I have no knowledge of how well the modem functions for data transmission. I would guess that the modem on hold feature would not give the CID either. WinXP SP2.

2 out of 5 eggsAvoid this product

Pros: Setup was easy but most are.
Did work as long as it was not connecting to another modem.

Cons: After testing in two PCs, the modem speaker did not work. The modem could not handshake with an ISP modem ( two different ISPs).
The modem speaker did not function even though the settings were correct.

Other Thoughts: Tested in two PCs, one XP Home (customer) and one XPPRo. Now I have an unhappy customer who has to wait until I get a modem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat buy!

Pros: This thing rocks! Compared to my old Lucient modem (also a V.92 56k modem), this unit is incredibly fast. Super simple installation, solid software (especially the driver), and great performance. For the money, this is an incredible buy.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Modem! Great Price!

Pros: These modems connect around 50.6K & are fast for dial-up! This has been the only modem I have used for 3 years. Modem is easy to install. When windows finds new hardware use the drivers on the CD. Modem on hold works well for call waiting. I always recomend this modem to others!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I have been using this modem for the last 3 years and have NO problems! I have installed 7 or more of these and they all work great! I recomended this modem to a friend and he could not get it to work correctly so he gave it to me. I installed in my mother in-laws PC and it works great! Must have been problems with his PC.
