5 out of 5 eggsSB6141

Pros: Easy setup, called Comcast and activated it. Working flawless for a week now.

Cons: No eggs off: Front indicator lights are very bright, but that does not bother me. For some it might.

Other Thoughts: For under $100.00 why lease when you can own it yourself.

2 out of 5 eggspoor quality

Pros: Supposed to be good quality product compared to other brands.

Cons: Failed after 3 months. Known a friend whose modem failed after 2 months. I am beginning to wonder Motorola's product quality. I definitely won't be recommending Motorola any more.

5 out of 5 eggsBest MODEM for the $$$ for higher speed internet

Pros: Unless you are able to get Gigabit in your area - this is the only and best cable modem you should get. Swapping out my 10 year cable modem for this I got instant double speeds due to DOCSIS 3.0 (my ISP already upgraded speeds to my service but my old modem did not support the speeds).

Cons: I love this modem, but I hate my ISP... outtages, lag, disconnects - none of it was the modem's fault because my neighboar had the same issues.

Other Thoughts: Always buy your own equipment and do not lease from your ISP = save money

5 out of 5 eggstime warner San Diego

Pros: small, wall mountable, large grid for air cooling, long power cord.

Cons: blue lights are too bright AND they shine out the air cooling grid.

Other Thoughts: I have no idea how well this could work because I don't want to pay for time warner for a better plan. I already pay $60+ per month for standard Internet from time warner. I was getting 16/1 Mbps with my 12 year old SB5101. With this SB6141 I get the exact same speed. I hoped I would get the advertised 20Mbps speed but no, not with time warner San Diego. A few years ago I had the $12 per month speed boost, where you get about 24Mbps for the first 7 seconds of downloading, so I know they could give me better speeds if they wanted, but I do not download for 7 seconds. I upgraded because I want faster Internet if time warner ever increases standard speeds, like most other cable companies already have. I also like to have a backup and my trusty SB5101 is waiting for this new arris modem to die, but the SB5101 is not wall mountable (take apart and drill holes in the case).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Modem - SB6141

Pros: Very easy setup with Time Warner. Up and running in 15 minutes. I utilize the modem with an Apple Airport Extreme router.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I like Newegg's free shipping and the $89.99 price tag for the modem was okay as well. Thanks Newegg!

5 out of 5 eggsPlug and Play on Comcast

Pros: Plug and play. All I had to do was call Comcast to add it to my account and initialize it.
Two mounting direction options.
Wall-mounting template provided in instructions.
Comes with a Cat 5e cable.
Clean and easy to understand all around.

I finally save the $7/month I'd normally "put in a shredder" by "renting" a modem.

Cons: I currently cannot access the status page (192.168.100.1). Manual states that if you can't access the modem you need to call the ISP.
Front lights are bright.
Power brick... Can't we have a short length from a regular power plug and then an in-line transformer?

Other Thoughts: This is going to pay for itself, simply by not paying rental fees, in a year.

I'm going to give Comcast a call about not being able to access the status page. I use that page to monitor the signal coming in to my house and it's necessary, in case I'm having signal issues, for me to self-diagnose problems.

The modems I've owned are a Motorola SB5100 and UBEE U10C035. The Motorola SB5100 served me well for over a decade but the speed I was getting was being limited by it's max of ~32 mbit/s (4 MBytes/s). The UBEE was a rental and was stable. I simply just wanted to own my own modem to save the money in the long run versus "renting".

1 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: DOCSIS 3.0

Cons: Died in less than 1 month

Other Thoughts: Had to RMA to Motorola / Arris because the UPC had been removed for a rebate

5 out of 5 eggsSingle Responsibility Principle

Pros: WAY faster than the old Comcast modem I had leased to me. Much smaller and simpler. I just want network and internet equipment that works, and this does just that.

Cons: Comcast. Not really on this or Motorola, but it must be said.

Other Thoughts: Don't you wish Comcast had more power over the consumer? I feel like they don't have enough...

2 out of 5 eggsGreat, until it dies..

Pros: - Nice, sleek design
- Simple set-up
- Allowed fast speeds (~108mbps / 11mbps for me with a 100/10 plan.)
- Decent price

Cons: - Dead after 30 days of ordering. The modem stopped picking up signals from the COX cable. The night before, it auto-reset the connection a few times throughout the day. Power was a steady Green light, but other lights were off. Spent more of Christmas Day troubleshooting this with cable company than I'd have liked. Confirmed it was a problem with modem.

Other Thoughts: When it was working, it was great. I didn't notice any major issues with it. The fact that it died just a month after purchase is very saddening.

On the bright side, kudos to Newegg for easy and prompt customer service. Setting up a return was a breeze!

5 out of 5 eggsworks great for me

Pros: Ran speed test every day for over a week now. Over 95 Mbps on the download, and never lower. Around 22Mbps on the upload. Doesn't get nearly as hot as my Linksys did.

Cons: None, so far.
