Fly high with Logitech’s Extreme 3D Pro. This high performance joystick has a sculpted handle with rubber grips for maximum comfort on long missions. The wide base stabilizes the stick during extreme maneuvers. The twist handle rudder control lets you turn on a dime for precision control in dogfights.
Twelve programmable keys let you customize settings for each game, or each plane. The high precision throttle lets you control your speed with amazing accuracy. A rapid fire trigger lets you shoot faster than ever before, so be prepared to watch your kill count rise!
A long cable plugs into the USB port of your PC or Mac (OS 9 or higher), so plug in and get flying.
Pros: Comfortable, accurate stick with a nice feel and plenty of well-laid-out buttons
Cons: Absolutely shoddy quality - Logitech uses the cheapest potentiometers known to man. The first one I bought broke within a month and I returned it. The second one lasted a further 2, and was replaced under warranty. The third one just failed after minimal use and a period of storage. Almost all failures are the twist axis or the left/right axis potentiometers, which render the joystick all but useless.
Other Thoughts: If this stick was reliable, it would be one of the best out there. As it is, the position sensors are so cheap and failure-prone that it's ridiculous. I'm astonished that Logitech hasn't fixed this problem yet. Don't buy it.

Longterm Calibration Issues
Reviewed By: tommieboy on 12/30/2007
Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Simple sleek no-nonsense design. That is why I bought it.
Cons: Doesn't seem to be able to keep its calibration settings.
Other Thoughts: If you can't seem to resolve your calibration issues, like the rudder sticking to one side, try removing the USB plug (with your computer up and running), wait a few second, and then reinsert the USB plug back in. It's not a permanent solution, but it gets me back up and running and allows me to calibrate the joystick properly. I have to do this every now and then....

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: My stick has been beat to hell, the cords been yanked on( had to play tug of war with a dog), and It survived many a soft drink spills from rowdy guests and it still works unbelievable well. the spring is strong enough to keep it going back to zero at all times and the buttons never lost sensitivity. I've won tons of mechwarrior multiplayer games with this.
Cons: no force feedback and the throttle doesn't go all the way to 100%forward or back because of the plastic.
Other Thoughts: didn't bother using the included software, worked just fine without it. when you plug it in make sure you aren't touching it and it's sitting up or it will constantly drift to some direction

Did well enough
Reviewed By: dziban303 on 11/26/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: Lots of buttons, handles all 3 axes plus throttle, simple, has lasted about five years.
Cons: No trim adjustments; sensors aren't very accurate even when new and requires a bit of calibration in the game if possible; when stick is at "rest" position it registers a good bit of random movement on both X and Y axes; after a few years of use it no longer registers more than half of any movements on the right X axis
Other Thoughts: I've had this joystick for several years and used it moderately playing IL-2 Sturmovik amongst other games, but I just threw it away as it has become unusable. As noted in the 'cons' section it was never very accurate, showing little "blips" of unintentional movement even when stick isn't being touched. This made it hard to fly straight as the ailerons would constantly be twitching. I tried to mitigate that by widening the dead zone and turning up filtering in the game (when available), which made flying require more exaggerated movements of the stick. Recently it stopped recognizing any right X-axis input past halfway.
It has lots of buttons but they're not laid out all that well and sometimes require undue pressure to activate.
The joystick base has a large footprint, which is good for stability but takes up too much deskspace.
All in all it's an okay joystick if you get it on sale. I might buy another one to replace my old one because it's the best offering at the price p

Terrible

Pros: It actually worked for a week!!!
Cons: The first one I bought the actual stick froze up after about a week. Didn't return. Second one did the same thing. Gave up, I don't feel like playing FSX anymore.
Other Thoughts: Buy something $50+ and save some money(in the long term after buying 5 new sticks)
