Fly free with Logitech’s Freedom 2.4 Cordless Joystick. This high performance joystick has a sculpted handle with rubber grips for maximum comfort on long missions. The wide base stabilizes the stick during extreme maneuvers. The twist handle rudder control lets you turn on a dime for precision control in dogfights.
Ten programmable keys let you customize settings for each game, or each plane. The high precision throttle lets you control your speed with amazing accuracy. A rapid fire trigger lets you shoot faster than ever before, so be prepared to watch your kill count rise!
A wireless receiver plugs into the USB port of your PC or Mac (OS 9 or higher). A 60’ range gives you plenty of room to move about, which is great if you use this with an HTPC attached to a large screen. One set of batteries will give you at least 50 hours of flight time.

Great Buy
- Pros: Excellent response, well laid out buttons, precise handling. Some others have complained about battery life, but I don't know why. The joystick automatically shuts off after several minutes of idleness; my previously half-used batteries have lasted four months and counting. I didn't bother with drivers, XP configuration is just fine.
- Cons: If anything it can be a little too precise, sometimes touchy with slight movements. This isn't a hardware problem, but something you would have to configure when calibrated. I didn't purchase on Newegg, though I still love 'em, it was cheaper on the world's largest online auction site (can't say e B a y).
- Other Thoughts: Wired or wireless wasn't, and still isn't, much to me. It sits on my desk beside my computer regardless. My roommates have Saitek X52 joysticks, but truthfully I enjoy this Logitech much more. I prefer having a hand free to enable/disable certain controls on my keyboard. My control and feel of aircraft in Sturmovik greatly increased after purchasing this joystick. For the money, this joystick can not be beat.
Fantastic Device
- Pros: Great device. Very responsive. you wouldnt even know it was cordless when using it. There is absoloutely no lag between input and response and all the buttons are programabe. Out of all the joysticks ive had over the years this one by far is the best. Battery life is great so you wont be going threw tons of batterys. besides, you could always pick up some rechargeable Li-ion batterys and your good to go.
- Cons: The only major problem with this device might be that it is too sensitive and it tends to jump around a little though when in the middle of a game this isnt noticable. Also the power saving feature can take some getting use to but as long as you push a button to activate the connection before jumping into action you should be just fine.
- Other Thoughts: Most joysticks ive owned tend to go bad after being stored for a while but ive put this one away for months at a time and then pulled it back out for a game. all it needed was to be dusted off and it was just like new.

Stinks
- Pros: Looks nice.
Wireless. Worked well for about an hour.
- Cons: Must recalibrate every few minutes to get even reasonable performance.
Poor quality components. Short range (maybe 3 ft.).
- Other Thoughts: After recalibrating, I can fly for maybe a minute before one or more axes lose it altogether. Even with the joystick centered, the axes output as if they were at full displacement.
Utterly useless device. Logitech stuff is usually good!
Axes lose calibration
- Pros: Responsive, feels pretty solid in the hand
- Cons: Before I even had to switch out the first set of batteries I've lost calibration on my y and z axes. The supposed auto-calibration does nothing to fix this and I'm stuck in either a constant slow corkscrew or forced to use a largely asymmetrical dead zone.
Logitech Freedom is a great product & it eliminates wire clutter.
- Pros: This product speaks for itself. I've always trusted Logitech when it comes to controllers & pc hardware so it didn't take much to choose this over a Saitek. You pretty much Plug & Play. It' very responsive, has great range, & doesn't get drown out by my router b/c it can be run at higher frequency. It doesn't interference with my cordless LX710 keyboard which is plugged in right next to it. It really simplifies learning how to fly when I use it with my Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
- Cons: When I move the transmitter it disconnects & reconnects itself to my computer. So don't move the transmitter when you're using it or it'll disconnect itself from the joystick. I'm not sure if this is related to one another but I had to setup/ calibrate my joystick using windows b/c after I installed the software it won't recognize the joystick.
- Other Thoughts: Some reviewers said the joystick was too sensitive. I disagree b/c most people like to play in 3rd person view. To me 3rd person view is there so you can look around your aircraft & mind you surroundings. That way you don't hit the deck flying to low or side-swipe a tree in a tight situation. That's probably why some reviewers thought it was too sensitive b/c they have no perspective of how fast their going, where their plane is facing and how much pressure their putting on the stick during & after a turn. It's totally unatural & that's just how it feels to fly a plane or drive a car in 3rd person.
