Give yourself complete control of your plane with Saitek’s X52 flight control system. And when we say complete control we mean it. The Saitek Smart Technology software lets you raise the total number of programmable commands form 47 to 282 with use of the mode switch and pinkie shift switch.
The X52 uses non contact magnetic hall technology for increased stick accuracy. The stick can twist to control the rudder. The two stage trigger gives you two primary buttons in one. The 5 position handle adjustment makes the stick comfortable for all hand sizes.
The progressive throttle control has detents for afterburner and idles, increasing the realism of the game. The MFD screen is now interactive and can display important game information directly. Multiple buttons and hat switches let you have extra functions immediately available. Whether you’re flying low under the radar or high to avoid SAMs this controller provides maximum control to ensure a successful mission.
Comments: I got these pretty much just for BF2. They're awesome, the build and everything reminds me of the good old Gravis joysticks. Still miss my old Gravis sticks but this is the next best thing.
Even the box is quality. Both the throttle and stick are A+. I've put a lot of hours on them and they still feel new. No problems once so ever. The throttle gives a nice resistance and hasn't gotten sloppy. Same for the joystick. Really like how you can adjust the stick to better fit your hands.
Comes with both advance software and regular drivers. For BF2, the drivers are enough. Although some keys are the same. If you don't use the advance software, you get a few duplicate keys but no big deal.
Can't imagine flying with the keyboard and mouse. Feels so much more natural with the joystick and throttle. If you're wondering, you can't use the stick alone. A bit of a design flaw but the USB plug is on the throttle then another cable connects the throttle to the stick. Would have made more sense the other way around but still the best joystick out there. I have no doubt this will last me quite some time.
Newegg and Saitek all the way!

Pros: More like 7 eggs. I love this stick. The preset profiles are great, the profile editor works really well, they feel comfortable for many hours of gameing. I play Mech Warrior and MSFS04 with this baby, and it works like a dream. Makes you feel like you're in the cockpit. If you can't decide wheather or not to buy this, do. Worth every penny.
Cons: None. At all.
Other Thoughts: Buy it now if you are at all serisous about getting the best joystick experience possible.

Pros: 4th Saitek set I've owned. Nice feel on the stick and throttle and highly programmable. There's an MFD on the throttle that can be programmed as well, but I haven't done that as yet. Fast shipping as usual from Newegg, thanks !
Cons: If you're loading on Win 7-64bit, you'll need to download new drivers from the web. Supplied drivers and software on the included CD won't work.
Other Thoughts: I coached a newbie how to download, install and program over the phone. If he could do that, anyone could.

Pretty awesome

Pros: Its an amazing joystick. Its fun to look at, its fun to use, and it has more than enough functionality. It comes with some pretty nifty tricks, such as the Saitek Magic mouse and Keyboard, the drivers behind the rather incredible macro abilities of this thing. You can control the mouse in game, and program every single button, hat switch, rotary, and toggle on this puppy. Meaning that if you take that time, you never have to take your hands off the stick. The throttle has adjustable tension, and the stick has an adjustable grip, so its just right, every time, all the time.
Cons: Lots of small, unimportant things (I'm a perfectionist, so sue me), but a few biggies in any case. Number one is the things lack of ambidextrous use. I'm a pilot in my free time (Cessna Skyhawk 172), and I'm used to having the throttle to my RIGHT. Cant do that with this, which is dumb, given that the throttle quadrant and the stick are two separate units. Why Saitek did this, I dont know, but I find myself taking my hand off the stick alot to reach to my right, trying to find that throttle. Granted, you can put it there, but look at the shape of it- its pretty obvious the throttle is meant to go in your left hand. Kind of a dumb move on Saitek's side of things.
The other thing is, the cross cable that connects your throttle to your stick? Guard it, and guard it well. I think the cables in mine are started to degrade or something, because from time to time my stick goes dark, often in the middle of a landing procedure on FS X or when I'm fragging somebody in Counter Strike.
Other Thoughts: If you have the money to get this, defintely consider it. Its pretty awesome, so far as joysticks go, and if you're like me and you like your macros, this thing is like macro heaven.

Best HOTAS for the price
Reviewed By: yparocks on 2/22/2009

Pros: This is simply a great stick. The first thing that amazed me was how smooth it is. If you've never used a non-contact stick, you will be amazed as well. More buttons than you'll ever need, yet they're all reachable. The three toggle switches map wonderfully to anything that's on the INS/DEL/HOME/etc. key cluster. Looks great, blue LEDs really spice everything up (but you can adjust the brightness or turn them off completely). All axes are responsive, pretents on throttle are tricky to set up but work reliably when configured properly. Safety cover on missile fire is a nice touch. Works great for flight sims; personally I like it for space sims (it's a must-have for freespace 2!). Probably most importantly I have used it extensively over the 14 months I've owned it and it still functions and looks like it's brand new. This is a very resilient product. You will not be disappointed if you buy this.
Cons: The biggest con is it's price, but the price is also a pro. If you are looking into purchasing a HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) system, you have to be prepared to spend a good chunk of change, and this is probably the cheapest one out there. I found the suction cups included to be a bit useless: the extra springiness you get causes the base of the stick and the throttle to become unstable; I like it better without them. If you don't like blue LEDs, well, this one's blue. My case is all black with green lights, so it doesn't really go. Lastly, it's difficult to find things to do with some of the buttons and axes; I haven't found anything to do with that slider. Same goes for the trigger: it has two "clicks" and I don't know what you would have the second one do.
However, none of these cons I've listed hurt the X52 in any way. Bottom line, if you are looking for a high-end flight stick, get this one.
Other Thoughts: I LOVE this stick for space sim games! Freespace 1 and 2, the X series, even the old X-Wing games play nice with it. Did I mention the stick is sooo smooth?
