Flakes out if you use Wifi!
- Pros: First of all, I'm an engineer. I've used (and designed) tons of electronic gear. This is one of about 10 different Logitech models that I've tested. (The other models had no glaring problems).
While this is a terrific -mechanical- design, there must have been a different team at work on the electronics. The wheel's inertia-damping control is great. Though some complain that the settings tend to jump from 'none' to 'full' abruptly, at least this can be adjusted slightly.
The slanted design and size are good for notebooks. Not so small that it cramps your hands. Not too big to carry around.
HOWEVER...
- Cons: This mouse does NOT work well in proximity to Wifi! They used the same frequency (2.4ghz)that is used in laptop wireless--then THEY WARN NOT TO USE THE MOUSE NEAR WIRELESS GEAR!
What an enormous blunder on the part of the designers. You have to wonder why this was approved, much less by a company like Logitech. It was obviously never field-tested.
The symptoms: The mouse 'cuts out' for short intervals, or simply stops working altogether.
This is a known problem, with lots of complaints stacking up. You will see repeated mention if you search for problem reports. Often it won't surface until a month after the mouse is connected (yes, a mystery). Replacing the mouse often fixes it, only to have it surface again later.
Logitech tech support is now farmed out, so you will rarely reach anyone knowledgable. Even if you do, the usual response is 'Turn off all wireless equipment in the vicinity.' If you're OK with that, then this would be a very good mouse.
- Other Thoughts: If/when you end up calling Logitech, you'll probably get someone reading from a numbered list. Hang up. Call back later.
If you can reach an actual technician, ask if they can fix the problem. Many of us would love to be using this mouse. Again, the ergonomic design is very good. Recommended IF you will never need to use Wifi.
Great general purpose: NOT for gaming
- Pros: I ordered this mouse to help remove desk clutter from my corded MX500, liking the laser tracking, detentless flywheel scroll, shape and design (the receiver popping in and turning the mouse off is ingenious); I was hoping to replace the MX500.
Mouse is incredibly comfortable, much more so than even the MX500, and fits perfectly in my hand. I don't use the zoom feature much but the smooth scrolling is a HUGE appeal for someone who has to look through the huge Java API. The ideal mouse for browsing/general computer use.
- Cons: While it's great at everything else, it's terrible for gaming. I haven't used enough mice to know exactly why but I suddenly starting sucking at all of my favorite games. I don't think the tracking is nearly as fast as the MX500 and there are delays (though small) waking it from a sleep state. It's not a fair comparison as the MX500 is often considered a gaming mouse, but it's something to take note of. You won't notice it in regular use unless you're a gamer.
The lack of tracking speed also makes this inappropriate for image editing.
- Other Thoughts: I ended up using the VX for browsing documents/websites and general usage, while my MX500
Lastly, one fun feature this has that my MX500 doesn't is that it can track on glass. Not that I would do so very often but it can be fun to go "MY mouse can track on this window! Can yours?" -_-;;

Bad Scroll Wheel
- Pros: When it works, it can't be beat. It's got a great form-factor, decent battery life, and an awesome scroll wheel.
- Cons: Scroll wheel broke after ~4 months of daily use. Although it's cool, the floating scroll wheel on this mouse seems to be VERY delicate. I replaced this product with a Microsoft mouse that wasn't as fancy, but at least I don't have to constantly worry about the scrollwheel breaking during use.
- Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy a Logitech product again. For the $, I've been much happier with Microsoft mice (I own 3). Two of the Microsoft wireless mice have been chugging along for ~4 years without issues.
VX REVOLUTION
- Pros: 1 EGG FOR LOGITECH VX REVOLUTION,THIS IS MY 2ND VX REV. MOUSE "WHEEL UNBALANCED"
IT WILL SCROLL BY ITSELF TILL IT BALANCES OUT.
MY 1ST ONE IS STILL OK I LOVE IT. GETTING VX NANO AND MX 620 WAITING FOR DELIVERY FROM NEWEGG. (((LOGITECH))) PLEASE MAKE THE HYPER SCROLLONG WHEELS BEETER YOU CAN DO IT!
- Cons: HYPER SCROOL "WHEEL UNBALANCED" DRIFTS WHEN YOU LET GO OF SCROOLING WHEEL TILL IT BALANCES.....WHICH MEANS THE PAGES MOVE UP OR DOWN 3 TO 6 SPACES
- Other Thoughts: KICK SOME B-TT WITH THE MFG LOGITECH THAT MFG THE HYPER SCROOLING WHEEL
Excellent Mouse
- Pros: Mouse fits nicely in right-hand. I love it. Scrolling is smooth. Battery life is decent. Would have bought two if the price was lower.
- Cons: When I first bought it, it would stop working occasionally. Then I figured out that the Wireless network was interfereing with it. So I changed the wireless channel from Channel 1 to Channel 6. No more problems. It is kind of stupid that you have to do this.
- Other Thoughts: Most wireless mice and keyboards operate on Channel 1 of the 2.4 Ghz range. This can sometimes conflict with Wireless Routers and Access Points which use the same band. The solution is a simple one. Log in to your Router/Access Point and change the Channel from 1 to another available channel, like 6 or 11. This will fix the problem.
Didn't buy mouse from Newegg. At the time I did not know, so I did not Newegg. :)
