Perfect for my application

- Pros: Image quality is super even in extremely low light conditions. To Test it I turn out all the lights one night and from the monitor glow only I was able to get a surprisingly good image. Auto focus works great 99% of the time. Most importantly (for me) the built in Mic is superb. I was able to pick up normal speaking from ~25 Feet away in a moderately noisy large(60x120) room.
- Cons: "RightLight2 Technology" appears to be a gimmick, as I have seen no difference with it on or off. "intelligent face tracking" is also gimmicky, it has trouble tracking and insanely slow to respond.
- Other Thoughts: Video response time and quality of movement decreases with lower light, however they are still acceptable unlike some USB cams I have tried. There is about a quarter to half second lag on video being displayed, so if you want real time video this won't work.
Our use: A Non-Profit I work for broadcasts, over the internet, our monthly meetings. They consists of a room (12x18) of 20 people or fewer. So far we are extremely happy.
Excellent, Yet Myopic
- Pros: Superior picture at close range. Auto or manual focus, digital zoom, pan, tilt (image shift when zoomed), color balance and exposure controls.
- Cons: Myopic (near-sighted) camera. Cannot provide acceptable focus beyond 8-10 feet. Best focus under 4 ft.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this camera strictly for the touted image quality. Unfortunately the camera is designed to provide crisp focus at very close range only. Ideal for chatting - but not for my intended use. Too bad they don't mention that in the specs.
If the Cons aren't a problem for you, then give it 5 stars.

Do yourself A Favor - Buy something else....
- Pros: Not must i can say here... Honestly!
- Cons: Mic is useless, pain to set this camera anywhere, This is a new product, i mean are they taking steps back ? What was wrong with the old way of leaving it on top of the monitor???
I expected it to be a lot better, especially for the high price.
Software is less than average
- Other Thoughts: This will be the last Logitech product i will buy. My previous Logitech worked fine for 2 years. Don't even know why I bothered getting it really.
Absloutley Fantastic
- Pros: I purchased this camera so that my family could keep in touch with me while deployed, I placed it above the living room TV and hooked it up to an old laptop. We have used it to communicate over skype and its fantastic, the low light correction works great to brighten up the picture, the auto focus and face detection are amazing, walk up to the screen and shift to one side and it will auto focus and face detect easily. The microphone is great and pics up normal conversation from across the room flawlessly (you can adjust the sensitivity). Picture quality is superb. A perfect buy.
- Cons: The mount that it comes with seems a bit large for a normal LCD monitor, it works fine over our living room tv but there may be small issues with it on a lcd monitor
- Other Thoughts: Very pleased...far superior to the more expensive mechanical tracking model that works very poorly
A worthwhile purchase.
- Pros: Surprisingly good microphone, especially for a webcam. Is better than every other mic I have, headset or otherwise.
Good picture quality. Lighting correction is also good, but likes to white-out fairly easily.
- Cons: Face tracking isn't very responsive, but does work in a pinch.
- Other Thoughts: The Vid software on the CD isn't necessary to use the webcam, it's basically just a Skype clone. The drivers include everything you'll need.
I'd recommend tweaking most of the image settings yourself, if you're comfortable doing so, the default / auto correction is rather subpar.
