Works nicely
- Pros: I bought this at the same time as my Logitech ORbis AF camera. I got them because I was heading of to college, and wanted to keep in "close" contact with my family. I brought the Orbis to college with me, and left this with my grand parents. They are not too computer literate, but after I showed them how they just clip it to the laptop screen and plug it into any usb port, they were good to go.
- Cons: The Logitech Vid program is nice and basic, but the video quality lacks (but so do all vid conversation programs I have found). I wish, since it is a logitech application, you could increase the quality of hte video. Even though teh camera supports above 720P, logitech vid only uses 320X240. Both computers are on a high speed connection, so I would assume I could go to 720P if I wanted to, but the option is not there. Not the cameras fault, but the programs fault.
- Other Thoughts: It comes with a desk stand that elevates it about 12 inches off the desk. The only reason I would use it is for a desktop PC, but if I was getting a camera for a Desktop, I would get something better. Still, the stand is sturdy and stable for how small and light the camera is.
Excellent Low-Res Camera
- Pros: Reliably takes pictures, stand is spindly but holds the camera still, images are okay for a 2 MP camera.
- Cons: Pictures are only as good as the lighting conditions (no snapshots in the dark or at twilight).
- Other Thoughts: Runs fine under Linux (Kubuntu 8.10). Use the "Streamer" application to take pictures/record video.
Good low cost images
- Pros: Much better image quality than the $30 Logitech webcam that I bought a few months ago. Substantially better in normal "available light" in my living room. Built in microphone removes one wire/connection. Worked out of the box with my Ubuntu 8.10 system
- Cons: none
