5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very high quality mouse, has lasted me through a lot of use.

Cons: Side buttons aren't exactly the easiest to press, and the cord is stiff so its hard to use without a cord weight.

Other Thoughts: Have yet to find a mouse besides the Death Adder that is comparable.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: smooth, easy sensitivity controls, and big enough to fit in a large hand.

Cons: um... only one color option i found so when you own two in one house they can get mixed up

Other Thoughts: great buy if you need a gaming mouse

5 out of 5 eggsVenerable mouse is still one of the best

Pros: Simple, elegant design. Has all the buttons and settings I could possibly need. Great button response.

Cons: Setpoint software is not quite as flexible with this mouse as it is with Logitech's G-series gaming mice. For some users, 1800 dpi is simply not enough (though it's more than sufficient for my usage).

Other Thoughts: I've used many different mice from many different manufacturers, but the MX 518 is the one I keep coming back to time and again. I simply can't find another mouse that's as comfortable or versatile. My only real complaint is the lack of program-specific button profiles in Setpoint. X-Mouse Button Control, a freeware utility, takes care of that, and allows you to remove Setpoint in its entirety.

5 out of 5 eggslogitech mx518

Pros: Exceptional response, comfortable thumb groove, seems basic but performs like a high-end mouse, great lifespan.

Cons: .

Other Thoughts: I was recommended this mouse by a friend, and for the 2+ years I've owned one have been extremely impressed. The price/value for this mouse is unbeatable. I will definately consider buying another one.

4 out of 5 eggsNot exactly what I was expecting

Pros: has enough buttons

Cons: Feels light and a little flimsy.

Other Thoughts: It's a good mouse with a solid track wheel and high dpi but I was going from the G5 which was awesome to this and was hoping for a more solid feel. It's too light and I wish it came with adjustable weights. I also do not like the feel although it does rest nicely in the hand.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech - The Gold Standard for Mice

Pros: PnP (Plug - and - Play). Make sure you use the USB port, else if you use a PS/2 adapter like I did, the software that comes on the CD when you install it, won't recognize the mouse to then show the "Settings" to allow you to customize it. It will still work via PS/2 port, just no settings. PS/2 port is good for saving 2 extra USB ports that would normally go for the keyboard.

Weight of the mouse is just right, the two buttons on the left hand side are great but I agree with others that they are just a "little" bit higher than I'd like for my thumb to reach, especially the right-side button.

Love the rubber grip which gives it a nice hefty-feel to it. Like the grey/metal color and wish the little dents were REAL dents! :) But they're actually just pictures of dents.

Cons: None. When it comes to mice, Logitech has always been the gold standard and I've always purchased Logitech. I even have their USB wireless ClearChat headset/microphone. though no keyboard as I like Microsoft's for integration with the Windows Vista OS.

Other Thoughts: I bought this mouse as it's a known popular mouse amongst the gaming crowed, to upgrade from my regular Microsoft Intelli-type mouse which was fine but not perfect for gaming.

Other reviews by other users of other brands (i.e. Razer DeathAdder) usually make a comparison to Logitech and this particular model MX 518 is the one they pick to compare. That's flattery.

4 out of 5 eggsnice mouse

Pros: i really like this mouse. i have owned plethora of razors and other gaming mice, but this one seems to fit my hand the best, and thats what matters really.... the buttons are the same as other gaming mice, as well as the dpi. good buy, would recommend.

Cons: dpi could be a little higer, but for the price i paid, it was a good deal.

5 out of 5 eggsBest. Mouse. Ever

Pros: Fantastic mouse with great button placement and functionality in addition to a straight up responsive feel.

I have been using this mouse for as long as I can remember. This mouse hasn't just been sitting on my desk either, I've toted it around back and forth to school for at least a whole school year. It's been to a few different countries and been dropped, crammed in drawers and gamed on.

I've been using this mouse so long the plastic on the sides is half worn off.

Cons: Doesn't have an awesome button.

Other Thoughts: Durable, Cool looking, and works great. What more could you ask for?

Pros: Best mouse i ever had! i got some new ones, but i still had to switch back to it.

Cons: After long period of use, the plastic starts to peel, but it's just being worn

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: This mouse is great! It's like it was made specifically for my hand. The thumb rest is nice... it allows for a less fatigued hand after hours of use. The on-the-fly dpi adjustment is nice.

Cons: When right out of the box, the scroll wheel was pretty stiff when scrolling down. Thought is was gonna stay like that. Seems to have loosened up now though.

Other Thoughts: Cool look.

3 out of 5 eggsGood clickability and usability, but the plastic peels

Pros: -good clickability
-plenty of buttons
-comfortable
-decent price, and of course newegg rocks

Cons: My main concern, and it is a pretty annoying one, is that the plastic on the sides and top sortof peel back after using it. It's hard to describe. It's like you popped a blister and there's dirty skin still hanging on. Really weird, I've never seen this before.

Other Thoughts: Other than the weird dirty plastic peeling away thing, the mouse is comfortable and usable, so I guess it's decent enough. I'll probably look for a new one eventually though, but I doubt this one will ever stop working.

Pros: Coming form a wireless mouse, the lack of batteries required is a major pro for me. I must have been using a pack of batteries every 2 months on my old mouse/keyboard.

Cons: Seems like the dpi buttons are not necessary.
A little on the bulky side, seems like my pinky doesn't have a spot on the mouse.

Pros: This mouse is great for general computer use and gaming!
You can change sensitivity on the fly and custom program all the buttons on it! Great buy, I highly recommend it.

Cons: It wasn't free?

Other Thoughts: If you're tired of your default mouse and feel like finally upgrading to a real one I highly recommend this!

4 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: Nice ergonomics, resolution selector buttons make it easy for different users. Btn click pressure at a nice median - you know when you've hit a button.

Cons: Only 3 of the buttons are actually programmable, and those are in awkward areas for repetitive use. Might as well not bother. The page-swap btn isn't really useful for me, but someone that does a lot of document processing might like it.

Other Thoughts: Overall a very nice mouse. Makes gaming much easier as the ergonomics make it easier to use for long periods vs a "standard" mouse, and the high-res means less hand movement overall. Not exactly what I expected, but still worth the price.

Pros: Reliable, very comfortable, lots of buttons, high quality optics.

Cons: The forward button is too far away from my thumb to be practical.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this mouse for over 6 years and can honestly say it's the best mouse I've ever had. It was a pricey investment when I purchased it, but considering how long it's lasted me it was money well spent.

5 out of 5 eggsNever again

Pros: Best Mouse I have ever owned. QUick Mouse speed changing. Page scrolling made easy and Never gonna give this baby up till it deteriorates because of use.

Cons: Like previously complained about. It tends to build up grime up top. I keep the house pretty clean. Air Filters and everything. Wash my hands normally. I have to clean it once a week. I am afraid it could be getting inside.

Other Thoughts: Everyone I know loves the aesthetics of the mouse. Looks sharp.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Mouse

Pros: This is the grand-daddy of all the modern logitech gaming mice. I bought one when it first came out and I still use it EVERY DAY. This mouse takes a licking and keeps on ticking, people.

Cons: Compared to more modern, weighted gaming mice, the MX518 is really too light. But it's 5 years old, the fact that it still gets compared to brand-new devices is awesome.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a gaming mouse on a budget, the MX518 is PERFECT. Its the same mouse as the G5 just less advanced/new. It won't let you down.

1 out of 5 eggsdisgusted

Pros: It looked cool.

Cons: The grip is very wide.
The buttons arent programmable AT ALL, if you want to make a side button scroll up or down then it will do that but other than that nothing.
You cant creat macros for it like the G500 even though on the logitech homepage it says that this peice of- i mean mouse can use macros.
The cord is Junk.
Horrible mouse worst i ever use, i RMA'd it same day i got it and just stuck with my logitech mouse thats 8 yrs old.
Dont be fooled by other reviews this mouse is junk and the :intelligent adjustable DPI" doent do anything but jump you from 400,800,1600 in a second.
Bad mouse

Other Thoughts: "facepalm"

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but I dislike certain design aspects

Pros: The mouse is responsive and has extra buttons. It also feels nice in the hand.

Cons: The way I grip the mouse, the smaller thumb button is uncomfortable to use, effectively making it useless. Unlike the old blue G15, the + button to increase sensitivity is located above the mouse wheel. It's not quite as easy to reach as the previous design where the + and - were right next to each other. I'm also not a fan of the silver "ripple"-ish finish on the mouse. It's not attractive to me at all.

Other Thoughts: I owned the old blue G15 mouse. It used to retail for $50. I couldn't find it anymore. This mouse felt like a downgrade to me. I don't get the ability to adjust weight, which I actually do notice as this mouse is lighter. Logitech used pretty much the exact same design as the G15, which I thought had problems (mainly in the thumb buttons), but they actually made it worse by putting the + button above the mouse wheel, which is inconvenient for me to reach with my normal mouse grip. The mouse is decent but the old G15 was better for about the same money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood mouse kind of pricey in my opinion though

Pros: Its a very nice mouse, cool style too

Cons: Kind of pricey, I bought a mouse just as good by Microsoft from Target for 20 dollars and it still working.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to spend that much money I rather make the move to a good wireless.

5 out of 5 eggsLike pulling the Excalibur out of the stone

Pros: It's packaged nicely. Very easy to open. Includes the manual/software, and the mouse. On default, the mouse has 3 adjustable DPI settings near the scroll wheel of the mouse (400,800,1800). If you need to tweak more, then the included software is simple and lightweight (memory usage). Ergonomic designed for palm grip, but can easily be used with claw grip with a slight adjustment. You will have to get used to having your 4th digit resting on top of the the ridge on the right side, and having your pinky rest on the side of the mouse. After a few gaming sessions, I didn't even notice the adjustment (it was that comfortable). The left/right click feel very weighty, but not enough to make pushing them a chore. It took a while to get used too coming from Razer mice, which have very low pressure sensitivity for the left/right clicks. However, you can rest assured that misclicks will be a thing of the past. Two side buttons on the left are very easy to hit, and the scroll wheel is not loose.

Cons: The alt-tab window button on the bottom of the scroll wheel is fairly useless in my opinion. Not enough to drop an egg, but I am hoping for a revision of this mouse with the hyperscroll button to replace it (without the included left/right scroll wheel button like the G500).

4 out of 5 eggsLove it but.

Pros: Great mouse, Great sensitivity and accuracy.

Cons: Had I known I would never set the dpi higher then around 1200, I would have saved some money and got a cheaper one. Also the top of the mouse collects a lot of grim from your fingers and I am constantly cleaning the top of it because it feels greasy all the time. And yes I wash my hands alot, but I am also on my pc like 12 hours a day so, clean or not, my hands are on it all the time and it just gets grimy and because the smooth top greasy.

Other Thoughts: The mouse performs great, play alot of FPS and other games and it works really well, would have given 5 eggs but I can't get over the smooth finish on the top of the mouse, after a day of playing... well, it has two grim rings around where my finger lie.... Gross.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech MX-518 Gaming Mouse Review

Pros: Came in after two days. The box that the mouse came in was very sturdy, with thick plastic and cardboard surrounding the mouse. The mouse itself fit very nicely with my hand, a welcome change from the Microsoft Optical. Adjustable sensitivity from 400 dpi, 800 dpi, and 1800 dpi is a great feature. The CD that's included has some software for setting up preferences and buttons, but I don't need those. The plastic feet glide very well. Overall, the size and contours of the mouse fit very nicely with my hand.

Cons: This has nothing to do with the product, but at the time I bought this, there was a rebate for it (8/13-8/19). I received the mouse on 8/18/10 at around 4 PM, and when I printed the rebate form it said that I had postmark it by 8/18, which is kind of ridiculous since the last day for purchases is 8/19. So I'm out $15 for the rebate, which was one of the primary reasons for buying the mouse. Besides that, I can't find any cons with the mouse itself.

Other Thoughts: $47 for a great mouse. 'Not much room for improvement, and by the reviews I'm reading about the mouse, it'll probably last me a couple of years.

5 out of 5 eggsDarn near perfect

Pros: Perfect precision, great ergonomics, on-the-fly dpi adjustment even without any drivers. Adding the utility gives you even more control. Scroll wheel has great clickiness and roll resistance.

Cons: A little bit too light for me. Would like a little more weight.

Other Thoughts: I'm a video editor and I often bring this mouse to work from home to use instead of the corded Apple mouse I have in my edit bay. Yes, the dpi adjustment buttons work under OSX with no special drivers. The function is built directly into the mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsMX 518 Rev 2 with improved mouse feet

Pros: This is my 2nd MX 518. I bought my first one probably within the first month the mouse was released (sometime in 2005, I believe) My first one didn't have the improved feet like this one does and I used it until I wore it out. This is a great mouse, especially for FPS gamers.

Cons: The surface of the mouse tends to make your hand sweaty. If Logitech could take the guts of this mouse and stick it inside of the Logitech G5 or G500 case they'd have a flawless mouse IMO.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: comfortable
low price
sturdy

Cons: an older model so it doesnt get the high dpi like newer mice. but i doubt that that high dpi would really matter.

Other Thoughts: i bought this after my old mx518's right click broke, totally my fault, i slammed it on the table too hard a couple of times.

5 out of 5 eggsAMAZING PRODUCT!!

Pros: This mouse is near perfect, the shape fits perfectly in my hand. It looks great and it preforms like no other. After about 4 years of use it has held up! I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a amazing gaming mouse

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Silicone feet wore out after about 2-3 years, easily found online and replaced, restored the feel to like-new

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect.

Pros: Sleek and comfortable design. Button presses are firm, but smooth.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The mouse wheel is a little more fluid than I prefer, I like to feel a little click with every few degrees of rotation, like my old MX 518, but that's just me.

5 out of 5 eggsNEWEGG ROCKS!

Pros: 8-button gaming mouse, I put off getting a gaming mous for way too long! Responsive, comfortable, never loses track as optical (partially in thanks to it being a corded mouse)

Cons: Nothing yet

Other Thoughts: Little bit smaller than my previous Microsoft mouse, but not neccesarily a con. AND NEWEGG ROCKS! I ordered this mous on a Friday, it went on sale 2 days later and they refunded the difference with no hesitation. It was a 2 minute phone call. I LOVE NEWEGG!

5 out of 5 eggsBest mouse out there

Pros: On the fly sensitivity adjustment is awesome, plenty of buttons to macro with.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Ive owned this mouse for over 4 years now and is almost in like new condition. The only reason I purchased a brand new one was due to the fact that one of my friction pads had warn off. The new model actually as redesigned friction pads that have a larger surface area than the original.

Pros: Very light and fast. Shift on the fly DPI is great. Thumb buttons are in the perfect spot. This mouse fits great in my hand and feels solid.

Cons: Color/Design leaves a lot to be desired. Document flip button is in a poor location. Attracts dirt on the top like no ones business.

Other Thoughts: Might be a little to light weight for some people. Also may be a little big for smaller hands.

Pros: Very responsive, extremely comfortable, not too small or too big.

Pros: I've had this mouse for over a year now and it's just simply awesome. I love the extra buttons, on-the-fly sensitivity switch, set point software, and the looks.

Cons: The 6th mouse button in the middle of the mouse is easy to accidentally press and minimize a game. But you can just disable it in the setpoint software.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Mouse!

Pros: Outstanding mouse. DPI goes up to 1800, I've had it for 3 years now, and it's still clicking like a pro. I'm a gamer, and I can sometimes spend up to 17 hours on my computer, and this sucker's running great! all my buttons still work fine, although the left click is starting to feel a little flimsy. All the buttons are mappable, and it has a button that does the document flip feature in win 7 or win vista. I even recently (accidentally) sanded halfway through the cable and it's still okay :)

Cons: the high gloss finish can get a little messy, but it's so fun to watch people think that the black areas are dents and realize they aren't

Other Thoughts: for the price, get it! I bought it when it was $85 and I still thought it was a steal.

4 out of 5 eggsCan't go back

Pros: The design and two side buttons.

Cons: The rubber skin can get scratched off easily, so you must cut your nails. The portion around the middle mouse button is peeling off. The mouse is becoming ugly =(

I don't use the sensitivity buttons or the alt/tab button. I don't see a situation where you would need to use them. I wish i could bind them easily in games.

I've had two technical problems with the mouse. First, the mouse occasionally turns off (the red lights turns off) and i have to replug it. Second, the mouse's sensitivity occasionally sets to a really low value and i have open SetPoint, click advanced game settings, and click OK to remedy it. Logitech told me it must be software related and that I need to reformat my hard drive =/. Anyhow, This may have been a problem with my USB ports; I currently have it connected to my PS/2 port and it's been okay so far.

Other Thoughts: Despite all of this, I can't go back to an ordinary mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Purchase.

Pros: Beautiful design, ergonomic grip, functionality works well. I play WoW with this mouse and the main actions I use are all through my mouse (consider, with scrolling up/down included, that you have a possible 7 buttons that you regularly bind). A worthy purchase for anyone who plays often.

Cons: SetPoint software can be confusing, but it works.

Other Thoughts: Great purchase, well worth it. This mouse saved me from carpal tunnel syndrome!

Pros: This mouse is just perfect. Slides easily, perfect shape, very accurate, and you can change the dpi on the fly. I believe this mouse feels better then the G5 mouse. 5 out of 5 eggsBest Mouse I ever useed

Pros: This is my 3rd MX518, all ordered from Newegg of coarse! I've tried other mice for gaming, I'm a World of Warcraft addict and the MX518 is simply the best I've ever used. If your a gamer, forget about wireless no matter what you hear they are NOT as responsive. For the money you simply can't go wrong with the Logitech MX-518. Feels good in the hand , programable buttors are right were you need them ,and the mouse tracks superbly. What else would you want for way under 50 bucks when it's on sale! Buy 2 there cheap!!!And always buy from Newegg!

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsBest mouse overall, ever. No contest.

Pros: I've had this mouse for over 3 years now, and there are still no problems with it. The cord doesn't fray, the buttons don't break, the sensitivity never dropped, nothing. On-the-fly sensitivity change is amazing. Perfect amount of customizable buttons.

Cons: Some of the paint is slightly worn, AFTER MORE THAN 3 YEARS. Sometimes (VERY RARELY) the side buttons revert back to their original settings for a moment (Maybe once every 6 months). Sorry, I'm trying extremely hard to find anything wrong with this mouse...

Other Thoughts: This mouse has definitely surpassed ALL of my expectations. Every single one of them. I believe I spent about $50 on mine. I'd have payed $100 easily now.

Pros: From the grip to the glide this mouse is dollar for dollar unbeatable. Prefer if you may a G5 but I don't need extra buttons or adjustable weight. I have had this same 518 for over 4 years and the only thing I have had to do is put some eflon tape on the bottom since I gamed them off..

Cons: Glide pads wore off after 4 years of hard gaming...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Feel

Pros: This mouse fits in your hand perfectly. Got it in anticipation of building my new rig in a couple months. The rig will be used for gaming primarily. Love the placement of the buttons on this mouse and the in-game sensitivity adjustment.

Cons: The scroll wheel feels like junk. I don't know what it is about it but it just feels like junk. Feels like something is rubbing it as you spin it and the clicks are not smooth. I know it's not a 'smooth scrolling' mouse but these 'steps' on the wheel are distracting. I can even hear when I turn the wheel.

Other Thoughts: I got this on sale for $39.99, absolute best mouse you can buy for this price. You can go to Wally World or some generic store and pay $20-$25 for a generic mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsExecelent gaming mouse!

Pros: The mx518 is just anyone's dream mouse! it adapts to your hand like no other mouse. It feels really smooth and looks nice too.

The buttons placement is just perfect. Its heavy enough i guess. I like heavier mouses, but that's my own taste. Its quick and responsive. it looks cool too!

If you are planing on getting a great gaming mouse without paying crazy sums of money, this is your best choice out there!

Cons: None... i would definitely buy another one if something happens to mine.

yes... this mouse is that good :D

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy mine from Newegg, but i felt like doing a nice review on this mouse cuz its so awesome!

3 out of 5 eggsFantastic when it works

Pros: Button placement is great, shape and weight of the mouse are fine for everything I do. I play WoW mostly (raiding and arenas), but it's been great for older stuff like Portal, Bioshock, Fallout 3, etc.

Cons: This is the second MX518 I've purchased: the first started to just disconnect at random (I'd hear the USB disconnect/reconnect sound midgame), and I figured it was just old, so liking that one so much, I bought another one. Within two months, the same thing started happening.

Looking into it, it's a fairly common problem, something about a weak solder joint for the cord. Indeed, if I kinda push it back into the mouse (figuratively--there's no slack when this happens), the connection lasts for a while, but it's never a permanent fix.

Other Thoughts: The above problem happens because while the cord isn't caught on anything, it hangs down behind my desk, over the edge, so that friction as I move the mouse back and forth tugs on the cord, slowly dislodging the connection. Or such is my understanding. I'm probably going to try to jury-rig something to give it more slack when it's needed, as I'd really rather not replace this mouse (others I've tried just don't feel right).

I just wish it wouldn't wig out on me : /

5 out of 5 eggsTime for another one

Pros: I originally bought this mouse .... probably 4-5 years ago at Best Buy on a whim. I felt kind of dumb spending over $60 on it, until I used it for some time. This mouse is durable and feels great. Only now, five years later, has the mouse wheel finally given up. Everything else works fine. So, here I am, about to order another from NewEgg.

Cons: This mouse's specific software is not Mac compatible. The mouse still works fine, just don't bother installing any software...it won't do you any good. This means that you won't have any on screen display telling you what DPI setting the mouse is at. No big deal.

Other Thoughts: I don't think that I have EVER had a mouse last me as long as this one has, and feel as consistently usable throughout it's life. I'm glad to buy the same one again.

Pros: precise and big fits your hand ...

Cons: the wire is just so thick and annoying it totally kills any pros

5 out of 5 eggsGood for fingertip grip

Pros: About to get real deep.... I was trying to decide between this and a deathadder. And it came down to how i hold the mouse. If you don't rest your whole palm on the mouse and use what i call a fingertip grip, the mx 518 is better. Thats why i chose it. the deathadder is more comfortable if you do lay your whole palm on the mouse. also the on the fly dpi changing buttons are really nice. if you start to play a game and are more tweaky than normal or tired you can make it quicker/slower moving.

Cons: kinda pricey for a mouse to me

Pros: Nice buttons, nice design, nice feel, nice movement to it, good scroll wheel feel.

Cons: the 3 buttons on top around the scroll wheel are useless to me as i cant comfortable use them while gaming.. id have preferred more buttons on the sides...

Pros: Bought this mouse 5 years ago for my old gaming desktop. Went back to this site to build an entirely new system, surprised that it still exists! My old one is still working, but if it ever breaks, I'll get another one of these. The buttons are very easy to program for any particular use. Very nice weight too. Can't go wrong with this.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Gaming Mouse

Pros: I’ve used Logitech mice for years now, I normally wear out the cord before any of the buttons ever fail, my 2 previous Mice were the G5 models, which seem to be exactly like MX 518 minus a button or 2, depending on the age, older ones had 6 buttons, newer ones have 7....so the look and feel and button placement seem natural to me. I did have some initial issues with drivers and Windows Vista, but I’ve upgraded to Win 7 and I have nothing negative to report. This mouse is very ergonomic and smooth, and unlike the G5's that have weights you load into a slot on the bottom, seem to work perfect for my needs. I use this primarily with World of Warcraft with a Belkin n52te gamepad, the combo works great for raiding.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: My only issue with the G5 was the construction of the cord, it has a wire mesh shield with a cloth cover and the cord was very stiff. The MX 518 has a more pliable rubber coated cord, with a smoother feel that doesnt hang up on your mouse pad

3 out of 5 eggsMiddle mouse button kills it for me

Pros: Smooth action, nice precision.

Cons: Badly located middle mouse button. No positive middle click feeling (mushy).

Other Thoughts: I'm trying to use this mouse primarily for work where I do a lot of middle mouse clicking to paste into unix terminals. In order to place the (useless to me) dynamic resolution buttons above and below the mouse wheel, I guess Logitech had to move the wheel higher. This makes it difficult to click since I have to get the end of my finger right on top of it. The wireless wave mouse, has a nicely implemented wheel. Good placement and positive click feel. But the powerdown/powerup delay is killing me, so I'm looking for a good wired solution.

4 out of 5 eggsI keep getting this mouse

Pros: Feel (shape, weight, button positions) are great for me. Very responsive on all machines I've used it with. Forward / backward thumb buttons are now a requirement for me for any desktop mouse.

Cons: The matte rubber finish literally dissolves with use. It could me, but generally after ~9 months of use, I'm down to shiny black plastic after rubbing off the fraying, pealing rubber finish. Sounds disgusting, no? Well, frankly, it is. I wish the matte finish stayed put as the electronics and mechanics of this mouse just don't quit.

Pros: -Multiple customizable buttons
-Smooth
-Comfortable
-Price
-Very responsive
-Color/texture

Cons: -Bar none

Other Thoughts: Replaced a Microsoft Optical Comfort Mouse 3000 which I was using for a while for normal / gaming usage, but I saw this mouse and the great reviews and only twice the price for a standard mouse like the one I replaced and I said why not? Might take a minute to get used to the new feel of this mouse and you might have to customize the buttons for more effectiveness.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Went from a generic USB to this mouse, man what a difference. Got this during a promo but would still pay full price for it.

Using a Rocketfish Dual Mousing Surface for even more dynamic control. There's a little weight to this mouse, which is good. Comfortable and sleek design. The 8 (5 if you don't count right, left, middle scroll button) buttons are programmable with the included software.

Cons: None. If you need a mouse, stop looking and get it.

Pros: this is a very good mouse with up to 5 DPI settings (3 by default). Works very nicely with the smooth pads on the bottom for better sliding.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the money

Pros: I have large hands and have issues with small mice hurting my hand, so I was specifically looking for something that was multi-button and on the bigger side. This mouse feels very comfortable and fits my hand very well. For right now, it has more buttons than I really need, but they aren't in the way and I don't find myself accidentally clicking them. Setup was easy using the 64bit drivers from the website (CD went in the trash, as usual). I'm not terribly fond of spending $40+ on a mouse, but this one seems well worth the money.

Cons: Scroll isn't smooth, but that's a preference thing

Pros: Well built, sturdy... It's a beast! Mine has been a trooper for 2.5 years now. The teflon glide pads and all the stickers have worn away from the bottom, but the unit operates like it was new.

Cons: None that I can think of. Extremely happy with my purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Mouse

Pros: I bought this mouse at a retail store when it first came out about 3 to 4 years ago for about $50+ and has served me well throughout these years until it finally broke this summer. By broken I mean the USB interface had trouble connecting to my laptop, but if it still could connect, the mouse would work fine. Read that again; LAPTOP. I banged the snot out of this mouse for 2 years (1.5 years as desktop mouse before I took it because it was so good) and the only thing that broke was the USB cord. Fits well in your hands, weight is not bad, responsive, the dpi change is smooth as butter and very practical. Not to mention the amazing decal on the mouse. If there ever was a product that I could describe as money well spent, this is it. The fact that it still sells today for the EXACT same price as the first time it came out with the exact same critical response is a testament to the outstanding reliability and functionality of the MX 518.

Cons: The only true con I can think of is it is a right handed mouse. Some hardcore enthusiasts may find the weight too heavy or for some, too light. If you're not a hardcore gaming enthusiast who games for a living, none of this should matter.

Other Thoughts: Get it. 85% 5 star ratings on over 3000 reviews on one site among countless others. Believe me, the artwork on the mouse is really cool to look at.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat gaming mouse for cheap

Pros: 6 (not 8) Programmable buttons (left and right mouse buttons stay that way, as far as I can tell)
Software is fairly robust, but i supplement it with AutoHotkey
On-the-fly sensitivity switching
1800 DPI

Cons: Placement of buttons: the forward/back navigation buttons are in a good spot, but the sensitivity buttons ought to be right below them IMO.

Other Thoughts: Great deal, for the price I got it at (about $38 total, including shipping). If you're a super hardcore gamer (which I am not), maybe spend a bit more on a better mouse. But for casual gaming, this one is great. Actually, it would probably work just find for hardcore gaming, but my intuition tells me it would wear out quicker than a more robust mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mouse

Pros: Great accuracy and ergonomics, I love the hardware on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment (even works in Linux!). I've banged it around and dropped in many times without any issues, so I can safely say it's very durable. Also looks pretty cool.

Cons: The anti-slip coating started flaking off in some places on mine, leaving it looking a little ugly. To be fair that's probably because I haven't been too careful with it. A slightly longer cable would have been nice.

Other Thoughts: This is definitely worth the money, I've been very happy with it.

5 out of 5 eggsMousing perfection

Pros: Absolutely bullet proof as a mouse. I've been using it for years and it hasn't let me down once.

Cons: The paint is starting to wear off in some spots. I really couldn't care less though.

Other Thoughts: If you need a good mouse, buy this one. Period.

Pros: Good Price. Good feel.

Cons: The sensitivity difference between each click is pretty big, making it hard to get a midrange sensitivity.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Feel!

Pros: This mouse feels very natural in your hand, I like the groove where your thumb can rest and the ease of clicking the two side buttons. All the buttons can be customized to provide different functions. Overall great mouse.

Cons: No cons.

Other Thoughts: If your looking for a new mouse, than go right ahead. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsIt has the coefficients of friction on the box, you know it is good stuff.

Pros: This thing is perfect for my gaming needs. The buttons are well placed for quick use and it is very responsive to even the tiniest movements.

Cons: The window switch button used to be pressed accidentally which disrupted gaming for a moment while I close the menu. A quick rebinding of the button fixed that issue.

Other Thoughts: This thing had its static and dynamic coefficients of friction stated right on the box. I found that pretty cool.

Pros: Best Mouse For The Price

Cons: Software Isn't So Great.Lacks Gaming Profiles Like the G110 Keyboard for button assignments. Also If you have a logitech keyboard and you install this the mouse/keyboard utility included will conflict.

Other Thoughts: Worth Every Penny:)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing mouse for a "budget" gamer

Pros: - This mouse has a pretty high DPI

- On the fly DPI adjustment (5 settings) is great when gaming (and handy positioning above + below the mousewheel)

- Button positioning is great, middle finger can hit the lower button nicely and thumb buttons are great
- really customizable, the software it comes with allows you to set custom sensitivity for different games

- it looks pretty slick and it's good for more than just gaming - using the back and fourth thumb buttons for web browsing and file browsing etc.

Cons: -Mouse feels a bit small, but I have pretty big hands

-No macro, but that isn't a major loss

Other Thoughts: I completely love this mouse. I've compared it head to head in a Counter-Strike match with his G9, I actually liked the feel of this better and the DPI differences made little difference in general.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who does want to shell out cash for a more expensive mouse, when this really will do the trick.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse

Pros: this mouse is one of the best ive used, i acualy perferr this overmy brothers G5. but, there is some downsides. but lets get to it.

This mouse has a lot of buttons, some dont work in games, but no biggie.

-Buttons
-Size, my hand has NO cramps after 9 hours of CSS
-responce time, great responce, i cant even tell if there is one!
-any one got a wireless mouse? throw it out, this one is better.

Cons: Logitech lied about 8 programmabul buttons, the buttons is how many it has. i'd say that theres about 5 programabul buttons, also the software that comes with it also works with all Logitech products.

Other Thoughts: i got this mouse for 17 USD, bacause it was onsale, and i got it first thing in the morning. a lot of my freinds hate and dispair newegg for sending them the wrong thing, well im not, i love newegg caus i can get cheep new hardware, next is a new keyboard. but get this mouse, its the best for the price

4 out of 5 eggsCame with my laptop

Pros: Where to begin. The sensitivity switching is amazing when it works properly (more on that later). I dont use a mouse pad and as long as I remember to clean the little pads it works amazingly.

Cons: After about two years the rubbery stuff on the outsides started to peel off. Most of it is still there.

After three years the sensitivity buttons are hyper sensitive. I still don't know how I do it but the sensitivity switches sometimes when my fingers arent anywhere near the buttons.

Other Thoughts: The cons as you can see are from years of use. They are not in anyway detracting from this mouse. I HIGHLY recommend this mouse anyone looking to get a cheap gaming mouse.

If a stray hair gets into the laser on the bottom it can be a pain to get out :)

5 out of 5 eggsBest mouse ever

Pros: Best mouse I've ever owned, and I've owned several. Logitech gear rocks. These are easy to navigate, are nice in the hand, and very comfortable to use. I won't use any other mouse.

Cons: None that I can see.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Mouse I've had

Pros: I've had this mouse over a year, and I still think it's the best mouse out there for the price especially sale priced for ~$20 MIR. Long lasting, super accurate, and great for gaming.

Cons: Can get dirty. Side plastic wears off.

Other Thoughts: IT tech employee and gamer. It sees a lot of use.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse!

Pros: Best mouse design ever. Very comfortable, especially with larger hands. DPI adjustments on the fly. No batteries to deal with.

Cons: It's wired--Oh, the irony! Setpoint software has survey pop-ups. It's apparent Logitech doesn't listen, or else they would have never stopped producing the MX700, so what's the point? "New and improved"....uh huh.

Other Thoughts: This design, if I'm not mistaken, began with the MX700. It evolved into the G5/7 series, and now this. I have the 700 and G7, both are worn out from extremely heavy gaming use to the point there are finger marks wearing through the finish. I've used a lot of mice, and this design is by far the best I've ever encountered in over 13 years of computer gaming. Other mice have their positives and negatives, but this is the pinnacle of them all.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: bought at 20$. incredible price. i love the thumb buttons. and all buttons can be easily reprogrammed too. thought that the mouse might be too big for hand when first used, but then after about 5 min of using, i got used to it, and now its perfect.

Cons: though some ppl use dpi changing buttons (the 2 near scroller) i dont. and also don't use minimize buttons. they can, all be reprogrammed easily though with program mouse comes with. would rather have buttons be in a more accessible place though (say thumb or on finger clickers) imo. atm the 3 middle buttons(non scroll) just kind of sit there and im not sure what to do with them.

Other Thoughts: really enjoying this mouse.

5 out of 5 eggsWell Rounded Mouse

Pros: Unsurpassed ergonomics, on the fly sensitivity adjustment, high build quality, nice tactile finish, click-able scroll wheel, and list goes on.

Cons: Paint job could be more aesthetically pleasing.

Other Thoughts: Effectively the budget version of the discontinued G5 which has an adjustable weight system, laser versus optical sensor, and arguably a more aesthetically pleasing finish. Regardless, the MX518 is a great mouse for anyone that seeks a well rounded mouse with great ergonomics. One does not need to be a gamer to appreciate the MX518's design.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have been buying the MX518 for years now and they last a long time. If you have ever had trouble with other mice randomly jumping across the screen when you move it, you will not have this problem with this mouse. The forward and back buttons make it super easy when surfing the web.

Cons: None
