- Comments: After using this mouse for a couple weeks, and reading some of the reviews posted by others, i felt the need to review this mouse again. With extended use, i've come to the decision that this mouse is perfect. When i go to work and use a cheap mouse i can barely stand it.
If you want an unnecessarily bulky mouse, go with the MX1000 - that thing feels like they just slapped together a bunch of cool features and said "Hey, that looks good." The G7 is a perfect blend of form and function. I have used it for 3d modeling for many hours straight without the slightest discomfort.
I don't understand why you are complaining that the battery life is bad on this mouse. They made the batteries small and light, and provided 2 of them for this very reason - when one goes dead, switch them. It takes 5 seconds and then you're good to go. I'd take this over having to stick it on a base station every 2 days.
As for a mouse pad, if the expensive one you're using doesn't work, i'd say its the mouse pad's problem. I've tried it on many surfaces such as laminate desks, wood, and my pant leg, and a couple cheap mouse pads and all worked fine. Personally, i have a glass desk, so i stuck a sheet of smooth white contact paper to it. It is the perfect surface, the teflon feet glide across it as if i'd greased them. If you have a roll of contact paper lying around i suggest you try it.
I seriously can't say enough good things about this mouse - it is flawless.
Years Long History of Defective Hardware
- Pros: There are no "pros" when it freezes every 10 - 60 seconds.
- Cons: The Logitech Forums have posts about it's freezing problem for over 2 years. They claim it's caused by this or that, but the bottom line is the hardware is defective, and has been for years. Today I read the G7 is being discontinued, and so one would expect that RMA options are also going to come to and end. My G7 worked fine for about 4 months, then started freezing as if the radio signal was being dropped then re-acquired. Logitech sent me a new one without me having to send the old one back. But then, 2 weeks later the "new" G7 (they said the problem was fixed with a hardware update, but I think that's a lie) started freezing also. A second call to RMA the second P of S G7, and this time they want me to send the second one back (at my expense) before they will approve a 3rd RMA. As if giving me two defective mice in a row suddenly is MY fault. This defect is well documented on the Logitech Forums. I'm not going to pay the shipping to get a 3rd defective mouse.
- Other Thoughts: This is definately one of those situations where you belive what the pessimists are saying and not the optimists. Read the other reviews. In addition to the hardware being defective for YEARS, with no explanation, acknowledgement or fix from Logitech -and- the only thing Logitech will do for you is send you another defective mouse. Also, my last (negative) review of this product was "intercepted" and redirected to Customer Service, and they did nothing for me, so I'm re-writing my previous and negative review. I'm also listing all the other reviews with the most-negative reviews first, and clicking that I have found them all "helpful". Others could do this as well.

Just right.
- Pros: Very comfortable, very cool design. Love the batteries and the charger.
- Cons: Battery life is slightly under par, but since it comes with 2 I really cannot complain.
- Other Thoughts: Buy this mouse, you'll love it.
Great mouse with great support
- Pros: - Very comfortable (for right handed) with a nice grip
- Anti-slip/sweat grip - 2000 dpi with fast change between cursor speed - Precise mechanical wheel - Absolute zero lag - Awesome service from Logitech
- Cons: - Bought it right before the G9 got out
- Gotta change batteries once in a while, which sucks during the middle of a CODMW or WIC game
- Other Thoughts: I bought this mouse about 3-4 years ago (the first model with gray and green). Pads on this older version got ripped apart in the first six months, so I sent it back to Logitech, only to find out they shipped me the newest version of that very mouse, which obviously impressed me (and incited me to buy one of their sound systems + keyboard)
I really don't understand why people keep complaining about this mouse when it's probably a hardware or compatibility issue with their system. Having greatly appreciated this mouse, I even gave it as a present to a few of my friends and all four are still using it today flawlessly. Even if you're not an avid gamer, this mouse's comfort is good enough to consider it as a mouse to use at your work place
