2 out of 5 eggsMouse Button Flaws

Pros: The advertised features of this mouse are what drew me to it and have worked flawlessly for around 2 years.

Cons: Two and a half years later the critical left and right mouse buttons emit double clicks instead of single clicks. A simple search shows that this is an extremely common problem with this model. There are two causes:
1) poor quality mechanical parts in the button switch.
2) poor electrical design causing brand new mice to experience this problem in dry environments (static build up) which cannot be solved simply by receiving a replacement mouse.

Other Thoughts: I considered giving this one star because most mice I've had before this lasted at least 5 years. However I could not ignore the fact that its got good features and those features work well. If you're willing to buy a new mouse every two years then this might be the mouse for you.

4 out of 5 eggsStill better than decent after 4 years

Pros: The mouse itself has held up quite well. I actually use it with the heaviest weights and I really like the feel of it in my hand. It is easy to clean and very rarely do I have click issues.

Cons: The braided cord was a disappointment. This may be unique to my setup but the cord travels over the sharp edge of a keyboard tray and the braided cover has worn through in probably an 8" section. This hasn't changed the performance at all, but it looks lousy. I occasionally run into an issue with the left click which seems to be a known issue with this mouse. Usually a few firm clicks sort that out and I'm good for awhile again.

Other Thoughts: It's a heck of a mouse. I got it for $70 and it has been worth every dollar of that since. I wonder if they'd warranty it for the cord issue ;)

3 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasts

Pros: This mouse felt awesome and performed very well for the first couple of years I had it. I am a light gamer and this improved gaming, but it was also great for everyday use. I only used the programmable buttons for one game, but they were handy. The adjustable weight feature was pretty awesome.

Cons: This mouse has longevity problems. It was a great mouse when it functioned. I absolutely loved it for the first couple of years that I had it. Slowly, over time, it started to double-click when I only clicked once. I thought my computer had spyware, then I thought there was a driver issue, and it took me a while to figure out there was a hardware issue. I called Logitech troubleshooting a couple of times. They were nice and helpful, but after going through a long list of troubleshooting procedures, we concluded it was a hardware issue. Although the problem didn't happen overnight, they would not fix or replace the product as I was just out of the 3 year warranty. This is disappointing as it was an expensive mouse and I have had $20 mice hold up much longer.

Other Thoughts: I treated this mouse with care. It feels like it was designed to fail at the time the warranty expired. I think it is reasonable to get 5 years or more out of a mouse, particularly an expensive mouse. I wish Logitech would stand behind this product a little more.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat mouse for FPS

Pros: Adjustable weight.
Braided cord.
Great fit for large hands.
Sturdy.

I like it much more than my previous mouse (Razer Deathadder).

Cons: Logitech software needs to be polished, but works okay.

Other Thoughts: Got it for $25 in a local store in Mexico. I regret not buying 2 or 3.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it

Pros: Adjustable DPI on the fly. Changeable response rate. can macro buttons and setup game specific profiles. I've been using this mouse for well over a year and no problems at all.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I picked this mouse up after using a logitech LX3 I bought like 8 years ago that finally gave up the ghost and then came back to life. But I'm a logitech fan for life on peripherals.

2 out of 5 eggsGetting old...

Pros: Great feel. Love the on the fly DPI change and programability.

Cons: If it wasn't wired I would have probably thrown it through the window. Took me too long to realize it was double clicking on it's own, making spreadsheet work next to impossible. A quick web search shows this is a VERY COMMON problem. It's a shame, otherwise still a great tool.

5 out of 5 eggsNot worth $140, but a great mouse

Pros: Really sturdy mouse, perfect for all gaming needs

Cons: Occasionally the left click gets a ghost click which will let go of a scroll bar or something you're dragging. It could also mess you up in a game. Also the tracking gets a little unresponsive every once in a while.

Other Thoughts: I put a ticket in to Logitech and they basically told me right away that they would replace it. They discontinued the mouse though, probably because of the common issue of the mouse click, but after 2 years, it isn't that huge of an issue. I wouldn't say it's worth the $140 they're charging for it now, but if you check out the G500s it's basically the direct descendent of this mouse

5 out of 5 eggsFinally wore it out after 5 years

Pros: Product still fully supported by Logitec

Cons: Left cilck is now double clicking instead of single clicking on occasion, can really mess you up in a game. Self cleaning mechanism most likely worn out.

5 years later I'm not taking an Egg off of it for that, I still love it.

Other Thoughts: Would buy another if I could.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing quality and performance

Pros: Relatively comfortable
braided cord
plenty of buttons
on the fly DPI adjustment
configurable weights
rapid scroll wheel

Cons: Slightly uncomfortable for my pinky
not an MX518

Other Thoughts: I'll admit that I've always been a Logitech fan. I had my trust MX518 for over 7 years before it gave in to the abuse I had given it. I purchased the G500 as a replacement and I'm nearly 100% satisfied. I've owned this mouse now for several years and have had no issues with it. It's nearly as comfortable as the MX518, with the exception of the pinky rest. It's slightly larger than I would prefer which gives my pinky finger cramps after playing for more than an hour or so. Other than that, it's a perfect design. The braided cord is perhaps my favorite feature, because the cheap rubbery cord is what killed my 518. This braided cord is strong and sturdy to stand the test of time. It is a little stiff when new, but after a while of using it, the cord loosens up quite a bit.
