3 out of 5 eggsLasted just about 5 years

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: solid mouse

Cons: none except it started giving me problems for the past several months with unintended double clicks

Other Thoughts: spoke to logitech about my problems. they simply said i am out of warranty and did not offer any other alternatives. this is a higher end gaming mouse (which I didn't use very heavy for gaming) and I expected it to last a lot longer.

3 out of 5 eggsdouble clicks

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: very comfortable mouse. looks good. nice features. very precise smooth tracking.

Cons: After a couple of years it started registering single clicks as double clicks. I believe this is a common flaw in the mouse. Doing research you can find a lot of other people having this issue and offering solutions.

Other Thoughts: My mouse has been outside of warranty for awhile so i attempted some of the solutions other users have suggested. No luck. Unable to get this thing to stop double clicking and it makes the mouse unusable. Very unfortunate flaw, this mouse would have been very good.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for about 2 years

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: So overall a good versatile gaming mouse with adjustable weights, rough texture around the sides for grip, braided cable and DPI adjustment. Software is also pretty decent for custom programing.

Cons: After about 1 year I started having an issue where it would randomly stop tracking up and to the right once every week or so. I would lightly tap the mouse on my desk and it would start tracking again. It has never gotten progressively worse which is odd. I have owned this mouse for about 2.5 years. The other issue that just started happening is some ghost left button clicks and also that button has started loosing signal when say, dragging windows around or moving files etc.. Sucks to have happen only after a couple years given its cost but it has been used daily.

Other Thoughts: This is my favorite mouse that Logitech has ever made and I have used several other from them over the years. When it worked perfectly, well it was perfect. I really hope the G502 is a close feel because its time to get a new mouse and given others have had similar issues with this G500, I may try the new model.

3 out of 5 eggsI don't know what to think anymore

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: When I first got this, I loved it. The mouse I had before was complete rubbish, and this blew it out of the water. It's served me dutifully for a couple of years now. It has some good weight to it (but it's adjustible), I could get some of the extra buttons to do stuff.

Cons: It has started registering single clicks as double clicks sporadically. Since I can't predict it, it makes using this mouse on a windows machine somewhat hazardous at best and incredibly frustrating at worst. It says three year limited warranty, but I have found no information here or with the manufacturer as to what that might possibly entail. Probably not worth ninety bucks.

Other Thoughts: I would love it if I could be contacted about possible solutions to this probably and would gladly raise my egg rating if I could get my issue resolved.

3 out of 5 eggsJust died

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: Worked great while it lived. The buttons are awesome etc.

Cons: It stopped working. Basically my PC (win8) would think it would become unplugged from the USB then plugged back in. So it would work, then it would stop. I ran through all my other USB ports thinking it was my PC, nope. Plugged in an old MS optical and it worked fine. Kinda bummed considering I bought it less than 2 years ago.

Other Thoughts: I love Logitech, but I still have two MS mice that I bought in 2002 that still work....

5 out of 5 eggs5 years later...

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: Braided cord, adjustable weight, smooth, configurable

Cons: In 5 years there really hasn't been anything that I've not liked about this mouse

Other Thoughts: This mouse replaced my trusted MX500 and I couldn't have asked for a better equal. Paired with my Mionix Propus 380 pad, I've only had myself to blame for poor FPS game performance. Anymore, it just feels like an extension of my right arm.

5 out of 5 eggs4 years strong. Upgrading to G502.

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: ++ Lasted a full 4 years before having an issue
++ Easy to keep clean
++ The dual mode scroll wheel
++ Comes with weights
++ Glides great on my wood table
++ Comfortable

Cons: -- Like other users have stated, the left mouse button started malfunctioning, but this is the first and only malfunction in 4 YEARS. Typical as it is the most often used button.

-- Doesn't have a thumb button right where your thumb naturally sits in the thumb groove

-- Not made for lefties if you're a lefty

Other Thoughts: I tried to clean the switch, but there is nothing really to clean! It's pretty clean inside the mouse due to the integrated mouse button-cover Logitech uses. Best bet is to just replace the switch.

The Logitech G502 will be coming in the mail, from Newegg of course, so we'll see how that one stands to the tried-and-true G500.

Great mouse that lasted many battles in Starcraft 2. Diablo 3 probably killed it!

4 out of 5 eggsOK mouse...

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: Large mouse for my bigger hands, but quite comfortable for both small and large hands alike.

Free floating wheel to rapidly scroll through paragraphs of sentences during work sessions.

Cons: Cable wrapping is cheap and broke loose after only a month after usage.

Starts to disconnect more and more often because of bad cable wrapping.

Center button on the side of the mouse did absolutely nothing for me; side buttons in general are just too small for me and I tend to hit more than one side button often.

Other Thoughts: Compared to my other mouses, this one in particular is the one that performs the best for me. Unfortunately, there were plenty of problems with the mouse that I could not overlook. But for what you pay for it, this mouse is still a good contender to last you for a good while.

1 out of 5 eggs2 blind mice

This review is from: Logitech G500 Black Chrome 10 Buttons Dual-mode Scroll Wheel USB Wired Laser 5700 dpi Gaming Mouse

Pros: It's good until it starts being erratic and causing issues with gaming.

Cons: I've now gone through two of these since 2011. Bought the first one and the left mouse button started malfunctioning. Logitech was pretty good with replace it which made me happy.
Now, on my second one, I'm having tracking issues. I'm not certain if it's a laser issues or what. I went through numerous troubleshooting processes with no luck. While being told that there's nothing that can be done to remedy the issue Logitech did attempt to pitch a sale to me to buy a different mouse.

Other Thoughts: It seems that the life of these are around two years. I suppose that could be good or bad. I'm pretty meticulous with my components. I run with a Logitech keyboard, headset, and mouse. 2 of which are having issues. I'm most likely going to move away from the Logitech line unfortunately.
