2 out of 5 eggsTerrible laser

Pros: Nice fit
Nice scroll wheel
Side buttons
lasted over a year

Cons: the laser is utter trash. From day one i had problems with it being extremely picky about what surfaces it will work on. Not only that, it's super sensitive and is obviously designed with mouse acceleration in mind to mask how jittery the sensor is. After awhile the sensor will just start dying. I did a series of 100 lines in ms paint where i moved the mouse two inches every line, and only about half of them were the same length, the rest were always short. In short, if you use mouse acceleration then no problem, if you dont then avoid like the plague.

Other Thoughts: i wish this mouse model came with an optical sensor instead of a cheap laser.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent enough mouse

Pros: Mouse works well, scrolls smoothly. Downloading SetPoint software from Logitech's website adds to the overall experience.

Cons: Looked like a used product straight from the package.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace my Logitech MX310 that wouldn't scroll very well. While this M500 mouse works great, I was surprised how rough it looked straight from the clam shell. Rubbery surfaces on sides of mouse have scuffs and scratches on them. Kind of gives the impression of a refurbished product, although the price was for brand new. This is a bit of a disappointment, Logitech.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Mouse

Pros: I was replacing a Gigabyte mouse with the same button layout. This logitech blows the Gigabyte away in overall quality and feel in literally every aspect by which a mouse can be judged. The mouse wheel, weight, side-texture, side buttons, and form are all great. The DPI button doesn't feel like I'll accidentally hit it like my old mouse. The wheel works as a button also.

I will be ordering a few more just so I don't have to bother looking for new mice next time, though it feels like it will last quite a while.

Cons: Nothing yet.

Other Thoughts: I use the mouse for work and gaming (autocad and WoW).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mouse for a Cheap Price

Pros: Excellent mouse for a cheap price. I used to use very good gaming mouses back in the day like the Logitech MX-518. This one is just as good as those expensive ones for a quarter of the price. This mouse has the precision and sensitivity on par with other mouses as well as the weight toughness to withstand hours of use. People complain about the mouse wheel being too sensitive, but if you hit the button right below it it locks it so it ticks with each scroll and makes it perfect in my eyes. The side buttons are a big plus. I use this mouse for gaming and have no problems with it. GREAT MOUSE!

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsTerrible scroll wheel

Pros: Acceptable hand-fitting shape, ease to click left and right buttons, movement is fine

Cons: Worst scroll wheel I've ever owned.
The thing is unhinged, and if you let it scroll freely at some point it will keep rolling for a while, and eventually go slightly in the other direction for some reason.
If you even lightly touch it, often it will scroll the wheel in either direction randomly.

Other Thoughts: I definitely have to buy another mouse, this messes with my games way too much.

5 out of 5 eggsA Fan of the Corsair Voyager Flash

Pros: Fast downloads - even for my old OS of XP I've had going on 11 years - yep - can't seem to part with it. . .
I like the rubber coated unit and I don't have a problem with the removable cap, I replace it as soon as I've downloaded my files. No lost cap worries for me, it stays put after you replace it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Being a previous owner of a Corsair Voyager Flash 4GM - WOW - 32GB is a real treat! You won't regret your purchase. Time will tell with its longevity as I've had it a short time but if it is anything like my 4GB, it will last and last.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Replacement for Logitech MX310!!!

Pros: Lightning Fast! Smooth scrolling. Ergonomic and comfortable. All around great corded mouse!

Cons: Adapting to new mouse - although not really a product "flaw" - only a user issue.

Other Thoughts: After owning the Logitech MX310 for years, which I also loved but is no longer made . . . and searching for a replacement, I am very pleased with this mouse. It is very similar to the MX310 but much faster and more precise. I've only owned the M500 for a short time, so time will tell if it will withstand the test of time of use.

4 out of 5 eggsMouse Trap

Pros: Has excellent tracking, and fits the hand nicely. The length of the cord is adequate and plugs in with a little snap - i liked that. Over all a fair mouse.

Cons: The buttons are a little hard to press to make it function if not pressed using force from the front. If you are a gamer or have short fingers (as i do) you will find you have to press on the buttons with much more force than you would ever like. For this reason i deducted one egg. If you do press from the front of the buttons you find it is easier, but Not Easy as most would like.

Other Thoughts: After about a month the buttons become easier to press, but still the Front force is required to get the thing to operate properly - i took it apart and did some of my own tweaking, but you can't do much with Plastic Parts.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice mouse

Pros: Hefty; additional mass over standard mice makes this mouse more stable and precise.

Laser-tracking is dead-on and very accurate on a variety of surfaces.

All buttons have an appropriate sensitivity; not too stiff, yet not too soft, either.

Contoured housing is comfortable during extended use, even for smaller hands.

Very affordable "gaming" mouse (see "Other thoughts" below.)

Nice, long USB cord.

Option to make scroll-wheel free-rolling is great for viewing extended docs or web pages, takes only a button-click.

Cons: Logitech's utility software doesn't always allow mouse-button clicks to work properly as keystrokes in all applications. Tried mapping the mouse forward/back buttons to two different keystrokes in a game, but using them would cause the game to minimize, which is pretty useless.

Mouse may be too heavy for some users, non-adjustable weight provides no options.

USB cord feels a little on the thin/flimsy side, no braided sheathing.

Other Thoughts: For a "non-gaming" mouse (from the "M" series, not Logitech's "G" gaming series,) this is actually well suited for gaming, but without the huge price tag.

The wife uses it for photo-editing, as well as gaming, and she likes it much better than her old Microsoft and Logitech mice.

2 out of 5 eggsTilting scroll wheel is awful

Pros: Works well even on my desk, which gave my old optical mouse trouble.

Cons: The "tilt" feature of the scroll wheel makes it almost impossible to use the scroll wheel as "middle click". This is especially bad in games that use clicking down on the scroll wheel for camera control.

Other Thoughts: I might take this apart and see if I can disable the tilt buttons.
