Logitech G27 Racing Wheel

Pros: I love the way the wheel feels when I use it for racing games. The force feedback is very nice, not too overpowering but just enough so you can feel like you are racing or driving. It is a wonderful wheel for games like Test Drive Unlimited 2, DiRT3, Euro Truck Simulator 2 etc etc. The leather on the wheel feels nice and provides very nice grip. Same for the leather on the shifter. I had also bought the wheel when it was on sale, so that is an extra bonus for a great wheel.

Cons: Can't think of any. Logitech has satisfied my wants again!

Other Thoughts: The brake is a bit hard to use at first, you really need to push down on it. Not sure if that is how it normally comes. Also when I had received the wheel, the metal plate on the shifter was scratched up bad like someone had decided to attempt to use a knife and scratch into the plate.

Pros: Very nicely done. Very smooth.

Cons: Wish the gearbox could have a more sturdy plate.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with the wheel, it has great feedback in games, and the settings can be adjusted to your liking. This has definitely made driving games more enjoyable.

Pros: You can become an anime drift king

Cons: You realize you cant actually drift well from day 1

Other Thoughts: *this is the best first wheel for the price, my next wheel will be a BMW Club sport Wheel but that is $800.00

Pros: Overall an excellent wheel that has a functioning clutch and H-shifter. With the proper support, this wheel's FFB is very impressive. The overall performance of the wheel makes the cons mostly forgivable, and it does not bear the cost of higher end wheels.

Cons: The driver and software support of the wheel is hit and miss. After setting individual game profiles with the latest software and driver, I've found that the wheel will sometimes revert to its global setting. This is a massive annoyance in a longer race.

The wheel also suffers from poor cable management and flimsy cables. To elaborate, there is a track on the bottom of the wheel base that you must curve and bend these flimsy cables through. Not doing so results in pinched wires. Though there is a few modular cables, there are also several permanently fixed cables that are incapable of being replaced without a new base.

The G27 uses, in my opinion, an extremely ineffective mounting system. Even after tightening the mount as much as I could, the wheel tended to come loose while driving. I had to use 6m screws to keep the wheel from coming undone. The mounting system looks impressive, so I'm unsure if there can be any resolution to this issue without simply mounting it with screws. The H-shifter also suffered the same problem as the wheel base when shifting into reverse. (You have to put pressure on the top of the shifter and shift into where 6th would normally be)

Other Thoughts: I'm skeptical that this wheel will continue to put out great performance longer than a year or two, but it'll be fun while it lasts.

Pros: Logitech Durability. Good and sturdy. Desk clamp works great. Shifter was a bonus although it doesn't work with all sims. Wish it had a mode for sequential shifting like the G25.

Great design and size, smaller than my junk Fanatec but it felt right at home.

Cons: What the frack is up with the shipping. I mean the box looked like it fell 20 feet from a platform. Newegg is loosing a egg for that. I was concerned it wasn't going to work, and with the driver issues I had to deal with for a few hours had me almost convinced the wheel was damaged.

The box it was shipped in and the logitech box itself had damage and I have the pictures to prove it. Again not neweggs or Logitech fault but that was unacceptable.

Other Thoughts: I originally had 2 Fanatec wheels which I worked so smooth and ran great but there durability was weak.

Pros: Good initial quality. Awesome feel.

Cons: Gave it four stars because it is destined to fail like many many others.

Pros: Looks nice. Bought it for myself as a Christmas gift to replace my aging but still working G25. Un-installed the G25 software, tried to install the software that came with the G27 and keep getting an error message.

Cons: Logitech support has been worse than useless. Attempts to contact via email have gone unanswered. I registered for the support forum, posted a question, and also posted in 2 other threads concerning similar problems. Result - my account was disabled. I can't even go back to my old G25 because I get the same error trying to install the old software.

Other Thoughts: This problem appears to be fairly common judging from posts on some of the simracing forums and Logitech is supposedly aware of it. I tried uninstalling all other Logitech software and starting in safe mode and keep getting the same error.

I'm running XP32-SP3, but folks are having similar problems with other operating systems as well.

I shouldn't have to do a OS reinstall in order to get the wheel working but that looks like my next and last resort.

Pros: The Logitech G27 has been the most amazing wheel that I have ever owned. I have owned the Madcatz MC2 and the thrust master wheels and this one is far better than the rest. The wheel feels very responsive, the shifter is smooth, and the pedals have a nice feel to them. One of the cool features that I found was the flip down teeth that will grab the carpet so the pedals will not slide back all while not tearing up the carpet. While revisiting other racing games I found myself far more immersed in the games. I would highly recommend this to any racing enthusiast.

Cons: Does not work for the Xbox 360 without a signal conversion box. As a word of warning I would not use this on a cheap table or desk. There is some force behind the wheel and it has a surprising amount of torque.

Other Thoughts: The box says that the motors are quiet which is a loose term because in my opinion while playing dirt it can get pretty loud from the vibration but that could just be the cheap desk that I have.
