5 out of 5 eggs2nd buy 5+ years and going

Pros: -great small comfortable compact mouse
-sturdy and durable, use on multiple surfaces and sturdy feet
-two- batteries increase use by a lot, it is very efficient in it's battery use. I only change the batteries once every 6 months and I use it almost every day.
-great small compartment to store the receiving usb
-4-way directional scrolling

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It's a very small mouse, definitely a claw grip. If you want something on the bigger end for a more comfortable grip for bigger hands, you may want to consider something bigger..

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Comfortable three button portable mouse.

Cons: This unit was dead on arrival, not the color ordered, took three weeks to arrive (turns out it shipped from China).

Other Thoughts: For what I paid its not worth additional effort /time to try to replace.

3 out of 5 eggsbroken battery cover

Pros: Compact, Good Weight, long battery life

Cons: Battery cover broke first day. Has a part number but logitech and newegg don't sell it.

Other Thoughts: Bought it to replace a LX but nothing new from Logitech is a good replacement for it. This mouse is to small and the top palm surface is not very comfortable because of the separation line.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Lightweight Mouse

Pros: Lightweight, laser, wireless, good feel

Cons: Wireless, but the reason is because it requires line of sight to transmit. As long as one uses a port hub on the desk and plug the receiver in, you're golden.

Other Thoughts: Got this for my laptop for when I travel. Funny thing is that I've also started using it for my computer as well. Love the fact one can store the receiver inside the mouse and take it along with you.

1 out of 5 eggsdefective

Pros: Nice comfortable feel. Smooth tracking and responsive. Purchased for a laptop.

Cons: Defective scroll wheel resulted in return/replacement. Wheel feels like it is out of round and it binds. I have never had this problem with a Logitech mouse and this is about the 20th one that I have purchased.

I hope the replacement is better.

5 out of 5 eggsBought as a Gift

Pros: I bought this for my GF and she loves it. The connector is small so it doesn't get in the way and the mouse works amazingly well.

Cons: Sometimes can be difficult to take the connector out because its so small but I really like how small it is.

5 out of 5 eggsNo stuttering!

Pros: -Smooth feel
-No cursor freezing, stuttering/jerking
-Detents on scroll wheel

Cons: -Detents on scroll wheel (if you prefer a smooth scroll wheel).

The following are not cons, I just needed more space for the review.
I admit that I have not pushed the mouse to it's limits. My angle is that I just wanted a mouse without wires that worked well over the short distance between my computer on the floor and my mouse on the desktop. I don't have any comments on the transmitter being hard to remove because I haven't ever removed it. I haven't programmed any of the buttons, I just mouse with it and for that it is great, because the last mouse I had wouldn't do that without stuttering and freezing! Strangely the other M505 colors had different prices and poorer reviews. What's that about?

Other Thoughts: The Microsoft 5000 series wireless mouse I had would not let me play games unless I relocated the USB transmitter to the desktop with an extension cable. Otherwise the cursor would take a brief pause on its way to the weapon I was selecting. This is annoying in MS Word, but it's death in a video game. I'm not primarily a gamer, but sometimes it just didn't work unless I moved my off hand out of the way or something. This mouse has no such problem! The MS mouse also had a smooth scroll wheel, something that seems to be more common these days. I prefer the notchy feel of a detented scroll wheel. This M505 has that. Should be a con if you prefer a smooth scroll wheel. The mouse is small and I was concerned that that was going to be a problem because I have very large hands, but it's not a problem it still feels good. Finally, I know it's just plastic, but the M505 seems to move more smoothly across my mouse pad. I like that. It just works!

5 out of 5 eggsLovely Little Mouse!

Pros: All Logitech mice glide well, but some better than others, this is one of them. On my cloth mouse pad this mouse slides very easily. As usual, the buttons are neither too light nor firm. The unifying nano-receiver is tiny and there is a place to store it inside the battery compartment. And not to be too girly about it, but I love the sparkle in the red body.

Cons: It doesn't do the dishes, laundry, vacuuming or wash windows.

Other Thoughts: If you own the M305 model, this mouse is only slightly larger. It is NOT a full sized mouse. But then, I do own the M305 as well and wanted one with the unifying receiver, preferring a smaller mouse and the M505 fits the bill!
M305: 2 1/4"W, 3 3/4"L, 1 1/2"H
M505: 2 3/8"W, 4"L, 1 1/2"H

For Linux users: If you have access to a Windows machine, you can configure extra Logitech devices that use the unifying receiver. Once that is done, the devices will use the single receiver and work in Linux.
