Good windows7 cam
- Pros: Works with windows XP, Vista, and Windows7. Good picture quality.
- Cons: None that come to mind. I've had this for about a year, no problems at all.
- Other Thoughts: Works fine with XP , Vista 32 home premium, and windows 7 (RC).
Another camera with issues
- Pros: This is a follow-up review to my earlier review. On the positive side, I can state that this works fairly as a webcam.
- Cons: I RMA'ed my earlier camera (see previous review) and Newegg support was as always, STELLAR. I rec'vd my replacement camera today, and surprise! It had the same audio issue. I've decided to try and work with Microsoft directly and see how that goes.
*PLEASE* Think twice about purchasing this camera if you intend to use the microphone. Do your reading, Google this problem. This is not an isolated incident, this is a flaw in the design of this camera. If there were an option for zero eggs, I would have selected it.
- Other Thoughts: This is the letter I sent to Microsoft.
I purchased this camera from NewEgg.com and it exhibited a clicking sound on the microphone. This persistent sound makes the microphone function unusable. NewEgg service offered to RMA it, and I did this, returning it at my expense. I just got a replacement camera today, and it exhibits the same problem. I could RMA it again, and try my luck at another one, but I have little faith after reading about others with a similar problems. Plus, this return would equal an extra expense that would add 50% to the total cost of this unit. This is at best, unacceptable.
As a remedy to this, I would propose that Microsoft should find a no-cost way for me to return this directly to your company, and it should be replaced either for the same unit, or one with similar specifications, but one that works.
Sound Problems
- Pros: It works as a webcam. Has a button on top of it which can be used in conjunction with third party software to start a program or answer a skype call.
- Cons: Audio is apparently a common problem with this one. Google vx6000 sound problem, and you'll see what I mean. Mine is getting RMA'ed with the hopes of getting another without this issue.
- Other Thoughts: Given what I know now I would not have purchased this item.
