2 out of 5 eggsstay away

Pros: none

Cons: The mouse wheel only works when it feels like it. Total pain when on the web and makes gaming impossible if you need to use it. This problem seems to be very common from what I hear.

The mouse wheel also has problems when you try to use it as a button. When the scrolling does work, it is way too slow or way too fast depending on the application. Adjusting the scroll speed from one extreme to the other has a miniscule effect.

My mouse would also lag when I was connected to the internet. This mades online gaming impossible and anything else if you always have an active internet connection. I have owned several wireless mice and have never before had this problem. I even tried a differant mouse to see if it was a problem with my other hardware. When the other mouse worked, I tried this piece of junk on my brothers machine an LAG.

Other Thoughts: My real overall rating of this product is one egg, but new egg keeps removing my one egg reviews. Unfortunately, it seems that newegg does this review editing quite liberally.

My original review for this product was not my first to be removed my newegg. I try to honestly review every product I purchase but around 30% of my reviews (usually the bad ones) never make it onto the sight. I can understand if a review contains off colored remarks, but only one of mine did (and I never actually planned on peeing on anyone btw).

In all other respects, newegg is absolutely unbeatable (with VERY fer exceptions), but I can no longer trust their online reviews if newegg is actively deleting the ones that discourage consumers from purchasing bad products.

2 out of 5 eggsIt's ok, but for the money? Nah...

Pros: Well designed ergonomically if you use a large handgrip on your mouse. There's space to place your pinky and the mouse moves freely. Decent twist to the mouse and the main two buttons work well. Good laser accuracy and the lag is imperceptible.

Cons: The center button (aka: the wheel) takes a *hard* press to engage. Royally screws you if you're gaming, CAD'ing, or anything elsing that needs that button. Wheel physically catches (you can feel it getting stuck) and requires extra force at times, making scrolling jumpy. Aux buttons are poorly placed and waaaay too small (the Logitech MX500 series chassis is much better.) I think they were just put there for looks. CD with drivers etc... was bent, had to download from MS.

Other Thoughts: Track wheel doesn't "click" as you move it, not a huge deal to me, but it doesn't make sense to remove the click after all the other mice have it.

The mouse is a classic Microsoft product. They saw good things (the side buttons, the ergonomic shape) from other makers and they copied it quickly, threw a few snazzy features on it, and marketed it as "top of the line" when it's an imitation. I'm returning mine and getting something else, likely to be a Logitech.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for Mac OS

Pros: Like the other review said, great weighting. Smooth scrollwheel. Moves well on my fake-wood desk surface. Batteries lasted about 9 months I would guess. The Mac drivers work fine.

Cons: The extra button closest to your wrist can be hard to hit and pressing down on the scrollwheel can be stiff.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Mouse, Great Feel

Pros: Microsoft has really picked it up when it comes to their wireless mice. This unit is weighted perfectly so you don't feel as if you're pointing with a piece of air nor trying to drive with a brick. Ergonomically it's a charm to use. It's tailored to fit almost any hand as long as you have basic motor skills and/or you aren't mutated. Tracks well enough. USB dongle has no problem keeping connected to it and battery life is exceptional.

Cons: Only a few cons really. If using on anything but a very smooth surface, it tends to stick as the feet on the bottom are a little on the tacky side. Scroll wheel side clicks are a bit too sensitive for anything aside from internet browsing. Definitely don't want to use it with a CAD program where middle mouse button is pan.

Other Thoughts: People complaining about the scroll wheel being screwy need to learn how to configure a mouse. I installed the software which included the driver and then removed the software. Afterward the scroll works perfectly in games, on the internet, in Windows Explorer and any other program I use.

Overall, some folks seem to have basic computer use inabilities when using their mouse. However if you can work up to sticking a disk in and clicking a button a few times, this mouse will work perfectly for you.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Extremely comfortable, easily customized, absolutely no lag.

Cons: CD that came with it was bent to the point of being unusable, but the software is available on

Other Thoughts: Previous reviews mentioned an issue with the scroll wheel. If you install the software that comes with mouse (or, in my case, download from Microsoft's website), then you'll see that the scroll speed is quite easily adjusted.

This is my first wireless mouse in years. I had one years ago when they first became widely available, and I quickly turned away from wireless keyboards/mice because there was such a noticeable lag. It seems that with the 2.4GHz frequency, there's no issue now.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Feels comfortable if you're there to just browse through sites.

Cons: Everything is pretty much about the scroll wheel:
Not meant for gaming; the scroll wheel can't seem to be adjusted on my computer to the scroll does not work half the time to my liking. If I need to scroll to go through my weapons, it just slides 3 notches too fast so I always miss what I'm trying to get. Or if you need to use the center button (I'm on vista), it minimizes to goto the windows' 3D overlay. And when scrolling down a page, it goes way too fast, and I already set the sensitivity all the way down.

Other Thoughts: The two grooves for the right side just aren't for me when I'm try to have max control of my mouse to aim at something.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad

Pros: Comfortable design, tilt wheel, has a good weight to it. Two side buttons are very programmable, macro editor is easy and has great functionality. Buttons are also pretty conveniently located and you don't accidentally hit them. Love the design of this mouse.

Cons: Scroll wheel is very sensitive and doesn't click, which is great for browsing Firefox because it's very smooth, but not so convenient for gaming. Obviously this isn't a gaming mouse, but the scroll wheel is ultra-sensitive and you will scroll through every weapon in your arsenal twice before you can get it to land on the one you want. Also, wireless receiver doesn't get a great signal in my rear usb ports.

Other Thoughts: As I said, this obviously isn't a gaming mouse, but it does okay as one except for the scroll wheel. Wish I had bought from NewEgg could have saved some money on this.

1 out of 5 eggsUtter Garbage!

Pros: Nothing much. Looks like it has a sleek design, but you will soon realize that you have mistaken this for a garbage design.

Cons: This mouse is utter GARBAGE! DO NOT BUY! As well as a lot of newer microsoft mice. Please notice the design on the right side as compared with the left. On the left side, the mouse is designed correctly. It is easy to move the mouse to the right. However once you move the mouse right, it's a huge pain to move it left because the design it almost level with your table giving you almost no grip.

The second con is the trackball. It doesnt "click" every time you move it. It just keeps sliding. The problem with this is that when you go to use it to click on a link in ie7/firefox it will sroll down while you are clicking and you will end up not clicking the link.

The third con of this piece of garbage is that the scroll function doesn't work in winamp and a bunch of other programs. There is no workaround.
