Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse – The mouse that fits in your pocket.

The mouse like no other: it is unique in look, feel and performance. The innovative design curves for comfort when in use, and packs flat like a small cell phone when on the go. The touch-enabled scrolling allows you to flick to move quickly up or down on the page and tap to stop. Feel the speed and responsiveness to your touch. You can use this mouse on various surfaces - rough or soft with the BlueTrack Technology. The unique design saves battery life: curve to turn on and flatten to turn off.

  • newegg Flexible Design Curve for comfort, flatten to pack. A perfect fit for your hand - and your mobile lifestyle.
  • newegg Easy Power Saving Function Curve to turn on, flatten to turn off. No button to switch. A green light flashes to show the battery is working, and then turns off when saving battery life.

In some programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, a single middle-click turns on Auto Scroll, letting you move your mouse to scroll without moving your finger. Another middle-click turns off Auto Scroll. In many applications, middle-clicking does nothing: Slide up and down the strip to scroll. Quickly brush up or down with your fingertip to flick. Tap the top of the strip to page up and the bottom to page down. Double-tap the middle of the strip to middle-click, which can do different things in each application. 3 out of 5 eggsDecent portable mouse

Pros: Slender, works on many surfaces, elegant design. The touch scroll is brilliantly implemented. It very accurately emulates a real mouse wheel. You can actually feel the wheel click beneath your finger.
Powering on and off is simple, no tiny hard to press buttons.

Cons: Uncomfortable, it extremely straight edge. It just feels wrong in your hand. You have to hold it deep in your palm and there is no sides to grab on to so you can push left or right.

To click a mouse button you must press close to the front of the mouse. If you try to press anywhere else the click feels to ridged.

Lacks a true middle mouse button. This is a big one. You have to double tap the track surface to emulate 1 middle click. If you need to hold the middle button or double click or anything else, it will not work with this mouse.

Lacks extra short cut buttons like back, forward, zoom, show desktop. The sleek design steals quite a bit from function. There is certainly room for 1 or 2 more buttons.

Configuration only allows changing left click, right click, and middle tap. No other regions or gestures can be configured.

Other Thoughts: Bought this open package on a huge discount(mark down to 20%). The previous owner obviously just couldn't deal with the awkwardness.
It could use some real improvements. The track surface would be better if it were a real square track pad and allowed for more gestures and controls. It would also do better with at least a real middle button.

That said it's a decent mouse, but only as supplement or portable.

4 out of 5 eggsTakes some getting used to, then Love it

Pros: Tactile feedback in scroll wheel, momentum based scrolling, customizable mouse click with macro option, folds flat for easy storage and also turns the mouse off, excellent battery life, extremely light weight, magnetic USB dongle holder

Cons: The click point for the left and right buttons is too far forward on the mouse, sometimes the wheel click goes off by accident while scrolling

Other Thoughts: At first I thought buying this mouse was a mistake and I didn't care for it at all. I found it extremely difficult to use especially while using Photoshop and other mouse intensive applications. After about a month I found myself wanting my Arc Touch while using other mice and after a few months of use I had to bring it to work because I just couldn't be without it after becoming accustom to it.

1 out of 5 eggsThis mouse is a waste of time and money

Pros: innovative design (looks cool when you are others with traditional mice)
feels solid
tracks good

Cons: feels uncomfortable in hand (way to flat and arch is in the wrong place.
the scroll is wacked out (there is no controlling it, I need precision)
There is no back button (already tired of using the back button on the browser)

Other Thoughts: Great idea bad design and implementation.
I so wish Microsoft had just kept the original arc mouse and improved the features of that. They should have made the original bluetooth or made a bud instead of the usb antennae that sticks out of the side. I'm on my third arc mouse because of that usb connector.
MS - make it work then make it sexy!

1 out of 5 eggsno signal from 3 feet...

Pros: nice design, black

Cons: The buttons are off, the sroll area is sticky in a strange way (doesn't slide like a phone's glass screen)... I could not get the signal to work consistently from 3 feet or so of my computer! returned for a trade at first, still not better.

Other Thoughts: one has to wonder how it got though QA.

3 out of 5 eggsuncomfortable

Pros: highly portable, great concept, on/off integrated into the use/store position.

Cons: I returned mine. I wanted to love it but it was just too uncomfortable to use. the problem has to do with the click buttons, if you rest your palm and fingers on the mouse, like I do, then my finger tips rest near the rear of the mouse, but it is difficult to click the buttons in that position, so I have to arch my fingers to be able to click the buttons. my fingers would actually cramp after a short while of usage.

Other Thoughts: if they extended the click buttons so that they can be activated by clicking the far end of the mouse, where the fingers rest, then this would be a winner. add bluetooth and it would be the perfect travel mouse.

2 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Sleek design
portable

Cons: horrible tracking
hand grip
scroll awkward
price

Other Thoughts: I thought this would be the best thing since sliced bread. Great design, great for laptop users on the go.

It fit better than I expected, but it was a little uncomfortable since I tend to use the sides of the mouse for grip/control. But for an ultra-portable mouse, it felt great compared to the mini-mice out there.

The touch-scroll was a little awkward as well. Although the click feedback was nice, I really need the physical/mechanical feedback a real scroll wheel provides.

All that aside, I would have kept it for travel if it wasn't for one thing...horrible tracking. The thing would completely go nuts once in a while, skip motions, lose connection for brief periods of time, and was simply frustrating to work with. I tried it on a variety of surfaces, but it wasn't enough. I had enough trouble navigating spreadsheet documents and websites with it, I can't imagine trying to game with it.

I ended up returning it for a Logitech M510 (love it so far) and a dvd.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: thin, light, great range. the touch scroll wheel is a nice touch. I haven't figured out how it works but i think it has an electric motor inside that makes it feel like its clicking. very cool.

Cons: doesn't feel as good as my old Logitech mouse. I think ill get used to it but the ergonomics could be better.

Other Thoughts: i was turned off by my first wireless mouse i bought a few years ago. the range was bad! This mouse is different, the range is GREAT!
Great moues to travel with due to it's slim size

3 out of 5 eggsGood for travel

Pros: Compact, slick design, very functional and portable.

Cons: Not ergonomic. scroll function and center click are hard to get the hang of, even with haptic feedback.

Other Thoughts: I generally use all of my fingers to drive a mouse. Due to the arc of this one, there is no place to rest my last two fingers, and they are kind of floating in space or dragging on the desk. I do love the way it straightens out for transport though.

5 out of 5 eggsNice mouse

Pros: Interesting look, small and light. Responsive, I use 3 monitors and getting from one side to the other isn't an issue. I like the feel of the touch scroll.

Cons: Looks kinda like a Star Trek phaser.

Other Thoughts: Won't stun those who annoy me

4 out of 5 eggsGood mouse with some flaws

Pros: Long battery life, compact design allows to be tucked in bag or back pocket very easy, no scrollwheel to break.

Cons: small arc can cause hand fatigue with prolonged use; mouse has a flexible 'skin' on it that begins to separate from the mouse body over time; because the mouse's plastic skids are very small, the skin catches on desk surfaces making for awkward movement.

Other Thoughts: If the tail end had been made a skid as opposed to a small plastic strip the skin separation would have never been noticed. All in all a very innovative design though, I look forward to Microsoft improving on it.
