Microsoft 5WH-00002 LifeCam Studio for Business USB 2.0 WebCam

Pros: This camera keeps up with my professional shoulder mount camcorder. This is an amazing webcam.

Cons: The Mic on this isnt the best of the best but is a 7/10 rating

Pros: This lifecam produces good HD videos. Customize your own settings that work best for you. Zoom is fantastic. Autofocus , brightness adjustment are a plus.

Cons: Cannot make video for higher resolutions. Are there any plans for a wireless version?

Other Thoughts: I use it as my security camera with iSpy. Works great. I had to get a USB active repeater to keep it active as it would go passive and disconnected after a long period of us. Now I am fine.

Pros: Widescreen Hi-Def view, good for industrial use ID badge pictures

Cons: Screen cap falls off, not DSLR quality?

Other Thoughts: My company uses one of these to take pictures for badge printing. It works very well for that purpose. The wide view angle makes it pretty forgiving on where the employee is standing. The Lifecam Software can zoom on the targets face as needed.

Very good for what it is intended for.

Pros: This webcam is exactly what we needed for our Software. We have sold over 70+ units to North American and Alaska Tribes. This is their Primary photo capture for reports and ID Card production. We have had 0!!! Returns and complaints, they use this camera on a daily bases and have yet to run into hardware issues.

We currently use it with Windows WIA support but plan to upgrade with a C# app as soon as possible for larger capturesd.

Cons: Only thing that I dislike, and only I, is that Windows 7 will auto install their Lifecam software. That is it!

Other Thoughts: My only hope it that Microsoft does not discontinue this product, it has worked wonders and is our last tripod mounted capture device.

Pros: Don't know of any yet.

Cons: I'm not the only one out there that is having problems getting it to work. Take a look at the forums out there. I have tried installing it on several different p.c.'s and laptops and have not been able to get it to work as of yet. Do yourself a favor & check out the forums before you even think about buying it.

Pros: Sleek design, excellent image resolution, easy to install. 720p is achievable with native software but 1080p is only achievable with 3rd party recording software.

Cons: Software package is very amateur. Instead of focusing on a business package software it looks like this is meant to be used by a pre-teen. They include a plethora of silly effects but at the same time did not take time to include microphone select-ability. So you can only record video using the built in microphone which picks up far to much noise, no built in or optional noise-gate. Also I have found that when you go to record video that 9/10 times as soon as you click record your video image instantly turns to a purple hue. I have tried playing with all the video options that the native software allows you to and nothing corrects this. If you turn it to a B&W effect that will solve it but who wants B&W all the time.

Other Thoughts: This is a great cam if you are only looking to do video conferencing. If you are a vlogger and looking to use it to record clips of yourself for your vlog's well there are issues. I found that if you disable the microphone that the purple hue issue goes away, BUT, at the same time that disables that camera as well. It is silly that microsoft made the microphone so integrated that you can't choose any other option but to use it and that when the driver for it causes issues with video recordings. So as great as this appears on paper, it needs some work. This is the consensus I have gotten from other reviews as well too, I just wanted to share my thoughts.
