5 out of 5 eggsExcellent canal phones for the money

Pros: Good isolation characteristics. Detailed and balanced sound, with good soundstage and imaging. For the money, they're really unbeatable in-ear cans, and compare favorably with similar-designed units costing twice as much; of the lower-priced canals I've tested and/or owned, the CX300 is unrivaled in terms of performance. At reasonable volume levels, the CX300 has been quite easy to listen to; they have proven to be non-fatiguing in use, and don't apply any sort of pressure that banded on-ear cans often do, even including some of the most comfortable ones. I've generally found them more enjoyable to use than earbud-type phones as well; the driver housing is small enough to fit into the ear without any irritating chafing like earbuds can cause.

Cons: Despite good isolation from airborne sounds, transmitted vibrations via the CX300's rubberized cabling takes some getting used to for the uninitiated, and even for persons used to this sort of acoustic transmission it can still be as annoying as in-ear cans from other manufacturers. Bass-heavy music can be a bit unbalanced-sounding, but that's not surprising for a set of cans in this price range. Unequal length cable leads like the CX300 uses are not to my personal liking. No included case. At the time of this writing, the black versions are $xx MORE than the silver variation here on newegg...why?

Other Thoughts: The CX300 canal phones will probably be judged by most anyone as NOT sounding as good as comparably-priced on-ear units, such as Sennheiser's own excellent PX100 design. But the CX300 does something far better than the open-air PX100 can ever hope to achieve: seal most airborne noise out. These canals generally keep sound leakage pretty much in check--both in AND out--and I feel they do so without significantly compromising the quality of the music. They work effortlessly with any of my iPods, as well as with my Nomad Zen and iRiver disc player.

If sound isolation is a must, the CX300 has shown to me to be a vast improvement over Sony's canal designs, and give more expensive designs like Etymotic's ER-6 series and Shure's E2c a serious run for the money. Highly recommended, as long as you understand the implications and drawbacks with going with a canal-type headphone set.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome in-ear monitors!!

Pros: Nice bass. Typical smoothe "Sennheiser" sound across the frequency range. Nice attenuation of outside sound. No need to stick in ear canal as far as some iem's.

Cons: On some music, you may wish for just a tad less mid-upper bass. Cords are thin and can get tangled. But, that's being nick-picky!

Other Thoughts: Was not expecting the kind of bass these put out. Won't replace the higher-end Sennheisers (i.e. 595's, 650's), but they MORE than get the job done!! Extremely nice alternative for portable audio.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat compromise for Canal-phones

Pros: After reading about the clarity of canal headphones, and being a daily-subway rider in NYC, I was hell bent on finding something that would work for me. Being worried about full canal headphones possibly damaging my ears, I decided to go for these after reading that they're great introductory pair.

They're amazing! The rubber edging fits my ear perfectly, and the set comes with two alternative sizes--one bigger, one smaller--for different sets of ears. The sound quality is excellent.

After having it for over a year (I bought my first pair in 2008, bought a second for my gf recently), I can say that reports of the wiring wearing down are greatly exaggerated. In the summer, these are usually hanging around outside my clothing; in the winter, they're stuffed under my clothes, usually against my skin. There's been absolutely no visible wear, nor as the sound quality been affected.

Other than that, the sound quality is excellent, and its GREAT at blocking out noise!!

Cons: Although the wiring is intact, it doesn't mean its great. The wiring is made of textured rubber, which means that unlike most ear buds, they will catch on *everything*, from your hand to a newspaper. I have, more than once, ripped them straight out of my ear because they caught slightly on my upper arm. Its INCREDIBLY annoying.

Additionally, because the wiring is so thin, using these for running can be frustrating. In or outside my shirt, I can hear scraping noises everytime they come into contact with my shirt. Whether or not this is a function of the fact that they're canal head phones, or cheap material, it means you'll consistantly have to put up with LP-like static.

Let me briefly mention as well, that these use a shorter wire than I was used to. When using these at work, I have to use an extender so that my head isn't a foot away from my laptop. Not horrible, but just a forewarning.

Other Thoughts: Overall, considering the price, these are an amazing steal. For everyday use, the aforementioned rubbing is really a non-issue, and when sitting at one's desk, its even less so. The most important function for me is the ability to not only block out noise, but do it without having to blow out my ear drums--these provide both. Even on a crowded, noisy subway car, I pop these in and with the music on at a moderate level, I can't hear a thing.

Another added bonus? Unlike ear buds, these things do not radiate music. I *hate* getting on a train and having to listen to the noise pollution from someone's cheap iPod headphones.

Overall, great buy; you can't do better in this price range, and with Sennheiser, you know you're getting a quality product.

4 out of 5 eggsGood headphones

Pros: Good bass, good noise isolation, acceptable high and mids, very comfortable fit.

Cons: Lots of cord noise; I'm not a big fan of "J" style cords; the cord seems too thin and has bends all through it that can make it do some annoying things...example: yesterday it insited in hitting me in the mouth over and over again because of the way it was bent.

Other Thoughts: These are some solid headphones. For xx bucks (considering that the in-ear phones that are considered the reference point are the shure e3's, which are xxx bucks, xx doesn't seem so bad) these are worth every penny. The sound quality won't blow you away (provided you're used to quality sound) but it won't make you cringe like those buds that came with your player. They fit very solidly in my ear and even good tugs will not dislodge them. The cord is my biggest annoyance.

5 out of 5 eggsAsymmetrical > Symmetrical

Pros: Good sound, amazing sound isolation, asymmetrical cable better than the regular cable if worn the correct way.

Cons: Connector is fragile (mine kinda broke), lost the default right earbud, pops if pushed into ear hard, easily lost (I lost mine).

Other Thoughts: Don't flame the asymmetrical design unless you really know how to wear it the correct way. The correct way to wear asymmetrical earbuds is to put the longer side go behind the head. This way, the headphone does not get in the way of normal work. Also, the headphone is designed to go around the ear before putting the earbud inside the ear (the wire starts behind the ear). This way, the wire won't hit your skin, and the wire won't make as many sounds when walking.

4 out of 5 eggsI'm Impressed

Pros: Very good sensitivity (volume for power). VERY good bass for buds this small but you must get the right fit using the correct size inserts (see below). lightwieght and fairly comfortable. Far better sound then the two other pair of "freebie" buds I was using.

Cons: Maybe it's my ears but I find these a little hard to sit right whenever I put them in. No carrying case, kind of sad for earphones this pricey. No documentation other than what is on the box. Price. Finally, this may or may not be a con for you but the nature of these in-ear buds really do prevent you from hearing much else besides what you are listening to so they are not great for work (where I use them most). They also tend to amplify other things you don't normally hear. To get an idea of what I mean stick your fingers in your hear and hum, listen to your heartbeat, tap your ear lobes, you'll understand what I mean.

Other Thoughts: Prior to purchasing these headphones I was using 2 other pair of earbuds I had aquired one place or another. I was immediately impressed with how much better my music sounded! These headphones are a major improvement over any pair of cheap earbuds you may have picked up or received with a device. Note that the "docs" state that to get the best sound you need to use the right size canal insert. This is very true and in my case I found that my ears worked best with two different sizes: large in the right and medium in the left so mix and match till you find what works.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat headphones

Pros: These headphones have some very impressive bass. You can find them for 30 if you look around and they're definitely worth it. The bass is clear and you can actually feel it; mids and highs aren't bad either.

Cons: When you rub the wires while you're walking or moving, you can hear the muffled movement of the wires. You do get used to it because it isn't that severe.

Other Thoughts: The headphones have one wire than the other on purpose. It seems like most people don't know that. You hook the short one to one ear, and you pass the other one behind your neck and around to the other ear.
To make these sound right, you have to push them in deep enough until air doesn't escape from your canal and it is sealed/suction/pressurized.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat earphones

Pros: Sound great with small, med and large earpieces. The one lead short works good to know which is left and right easily.

Cons: The rubber material catches and snags on EVERYTHING. Jerked from ears countless times when the cord brushes against gloved hand while riding lawn mower. Seems very sticky/tacky type of material. They snag endlessly!

Other Thoughts: Better than stock earphones tho'

5 out of 5 eggsBest 50$ cans in the world

Pros: I use these bad boys for 10 hours straight while I cut grass and weed-eat. With these cans, you can barely hear a diesel Kubota riding mower going full throttle - the noise cancelation is superb. Amazing clarity. I use them with my iPod with the EQ on Rock, and I absolutely love it. Wonderful bass to midrange tones. Listening to everything from punk rock to bluegrass, these deliver with superior noise cancelation and astounding bass. No discomfort after 10 hours of continuous use. You will LOVE these bad boys....

Cons: Trebles and the high end occasionally sound tinny if the volume is too loud. Not bad at all - barely noticeable. I don't particularly care for the uneven cord, but if you wear it like it is designed, with the long cord behind your neck, it is surprisingly practical and comfortable.

Other Thoughts: It is imperative that you select the pair of rubber pads that fits your ear. Once you find the pair that fits you, you will fall in love with these. I dont know, maybe the CX400's and 500's are better sounding, but absolutely no complaints with these. The cord is NOT "sticky" and is an excellent length. Another review mentioned the problem of noise created by your body - tapping knuckles on a table, swallowing, or vibrations that are "transmitted" through your body that become much more noticeable with these. You can try putting in earplugs and tapping your knuckles on a table to see what this is like, but I really didn't find this was an issue at all. Maybe my music is just really loud....

Bottom line: If you want amazing sound, good price, and fantastic sound cancellation, these are for you. buy them now.

5 out of 5 eggsNOT next day rating. 1+ year RATING

Pros: I hate reading reviews because alot of them sound much like a infomercial. But I am being honest when I say, unless are not ALREADY into Xtreme high audio fidelity and know nothing a electrical engineer does-->the CX300 are for you :P I tell you- to take advantage of any speakers you must use a mixer and customize it to your specific needs.
Need bass heavy speakers, buy bass specific speakers. need acoustic fidelity buy acoustic. for all around get cx300, but know that everything is a compromise. you can not get extreme bass out of this. you can not get extreme treble. But i tell you what, this set comes close to both and does a dÅmn good job.

When i first got these the bass, mids, and highs didnt sound as rich as they do now 1 1/2 years later. they just get better and better. Kind of like an acoustic guitar sounds after banging on it for a couple years-richer, fuller.

The material and quality is made to last!
My previous sony ear canals broke because the she

Cons: people who base the rating SOLEY on material structure over the sound quality.
why?

Other Thoughts: What was the difference between these and others?
Ever had headphones that made your ears get tired and sore?
i have fell asleep in these. at times forgot they were in my ears.
this is the reason i used these cans so much.

the E2C and Etymotic's ER-6 and the CX300 are all similar in quality. but the E2c and the Etymotic's ER-6 are jsut tuhoo dayum expensive. and the marginality between all three are slim. I dont know, if you got the money then why not. but i shure dont :P

5 out of 5 eggsA-freakin'-mazing

Pros: This headset is phenominal, i don't know where to start. Bass middle and high are all very clear, and the bass is impressive for such a low priced headset. It's almost like surround sound but with only 2 speakers. The sizes are very easy to change out (about 4 second process). If they are in with no music, you can of course here things around you, but the moment you play music from them, everything else goes mute. So if you want to drown on the voice of a professor, or the sounds of traffic... these will do the job. the "microphone" effect some people have mentioned is VERY minimal. You will hardly notice it w/o music playing, and won't here a thing with music.

So yeah, this is a good buy, and I recommend it over the E2cs... save yourself some money.

Cons: I don't have more ears to wear mor of these?

Other Thoughts: Might wanna carry some Q-tips around if you have wax in your ears ^_0

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A surprisingly full sound from such a small set of canalphones. If these do not have the bass you want, canalphones/earbuds are not what you're looking for. They are perfect for people who travel daily (public transportation) and want a small set of phones with a terrific isolating sound.

Cons: I agree with others that the asymmetrical cord is a bit of a bother. Sometimes I accidentally yank the left side out and my ears pops. It's not good. But the quality makes up for it.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to what others may say in reviewing this product, these canalphones are very inexpensive for the quality you get with them. If you want better canalphones, you can spend $200+ on other brands. But if you're expecting low bass and opera house clarity, you're fooling yourself. These are the best you can get at such a cheap price and so portable.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is just WOW

Pros: I mean....all I can say is wow.
This IEM is worth every penny!
Clear high, mid, decent bass.

Cons: It does make rustling sounds when the cord touches something, but I found it almost inaudible when music is on.

Other Thoughts: At the current price, these IEMs are hard to beat! It sounds at least 3x more expensive headphones out there. If you are looking for a headphone that does not cost several hundreds and reproduces rich sound, this is the one to get.

5 out of 5 eggsThese are **Wonderful**

Pros: These have phenomenal sound for the price. I actually like them more than my Grado SR-80/amplifier setup. These do not need an amplifier at all (it would probably deafen me, too). Even playing out of my Dell Axim x50v (PDA) they sound good. Out of an MP3 player they sound great. This is hands down the best set of canal buds I've ever heard and probably the best phones -period- in the sub $xxx bracket. I literally heard things I've never heard before out of my music.

Cons: You have to shove them way into your ears to get the bass, but oh baby, the bass is awesome. This isn't really a con, since it is the way all canal phones work.

Other Thoughts: These are completely isolating, so they are not a good choice if you need to be aware of your surroundings.

They *will* leave your ears ringing if you set the volume too loud, but I kind of think that's a plus <g>.

Seriously, I would turn my ipod or computer down to about 30% when first trying them out, because otherwise you will blow your ear drums with the bass.

Don't even bother with a set of more expensive canal phones, or a sub-$xxx pair of phones without trying these first. You will not get better sound for the money, and you don't even need an amp for eardrum blowing power.

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice but not THAT nice

Pros: Much better bass than what I was using, good fit and very clear sound

Cons: Only worth the price at about 1/2 of retail price

Other Thoughts: I picked these up for 10 bux after the rebate. I have been using some canal phones from DX and also JVC Marshmallows. They were much better sounding than the DX ones, and just a tad better than the marshmallows. Audiophiles may say I am nuts but that is what I heard. I did about an hour of comparison of different types of music. These definately have the edge when it comes to Bass and fit. The Marshmallows and DX ones cost less than 4 dollars shipped so I expected these to be alot better than they were.

5 out of 5 eggsBe Careful Outside

Pros: The sound is just amazing. But what really makes the sound great is the noise canceling that these earphones provide. The day i received these, i wore these outside and listening at a volume level of two, i couldn't hear a single thing.

Cons: Maybe it's just that my music is not bass-heavy, but i think that the bass levels in the earphones are only above average.

Other Thoughts: Some people complain about the asymmetrical cord but these are my first asymmetrical earphones and i think it's great. They're very comfortable and contrary to other reviews, my left earbud is not being pulled out all the time. Also, the cord length is just fine. I'm 5' 8" with a long torso and i have about 5 inches extra even with my mp3 in my jean pocket.

4 out of 5 eggsGood sound but not worth full price

Pros: Good sound. 3 different size ear plugs.

Cons: You have to get the fit just right to get the good sound. It takes a lot of wiggling each time to get them in properly.
Price

Other Thoughts: I got these at a discounted price and also took advantage of a rebate by sending in an old broken pair so the came out at about $15. I'm glad I didn't pay more as they're good but too fiddly to be worth the 80 they're listed at.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat canal headphones

Pros: Isolates outside sound very well and lets you hear things that you wouldn't have noticed with regular earbuds.
The asymetrical cord design is useful for letting them hang around the neck

Cons: It doesn't come with a case to store the headphones or the extra cushions.

4 out of 5 eggsNice, but...

Pros: Nice sound, certainly better than what came with my MP3 player. Good fit. Cord is long enough for my use (arm band, neck tether). Dealt with the occasional yanking out while lifting in the gym without damage so far. The most recent pulling the plug out of the player (hence my ditching the armband for the tether). Comfortable in the ear. Maybe not the BEST, but certainly worth what I paid(less than 1/2 retail here at Newegg). As always, Newegg rocks.

Cons: As others have stated, and it needs to be stated again, any rubbing, or bouncing of the cord is directly transfered to your ears and can be annoying at times. Also, the asymmetric cord that hangs all of its weight from the left ear, tends to pull out the left ear bud when jogging (but better than another brand's with their poor 2 piece design). Slippery ear pieces, they readily fall out after breaking a sweat (yes I am using the right size, tried all 3) and they are too short leading to less stability in the ear.

Other Thoughts: Again, great for the price I paid. But in no way are they worth retail. Comparable ear buds out there for half the price. Also, I think I'm going to switch to phones for the gym, easier to keep on the head than in the ear.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Canals

Pros: The sound quality is top notch and the bass is very good. I really like using these canals because they don't fall off unlike the earbuds.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: When you try to put them on, be careful not to make a plunger-like movement or you'll feel discomfort.

4 out of 5 eggsA little bassy with treble roll off.

Pros: this sounds good. mated with my creative zen, its not neutral, but bassy and the treble is not crisp. some fiddling with the EQ fixes that and it performs pretty well, the treble roll off makes for non fatigue listening, its not sharp. it attenuates outside sound decently enough. the fit is decent for me and with the supplied earpieces its pretty probable that you'll find one that fits just right. the rebate that came with this made it exceptional value for money for a great sounding pair of phones.

Cons: does not come with a case.

Other Thoughts: most portable mp3 players can ony cut and not boost using the EQ, and the cx300b is not the most sparkly headphones, if you like the grado sound, you will prob not like this.

5 out of 5 eggsOh wow

Pros: The isolation is so good that you can hear your heart beat! Don't chew gum or eat; it'll sound like a jackhammer.

Sound is rich and full. Not tinny, crackly or anything else. Just like you're in the studio if the music's high-quality. Luscious, un-adultered listening bliss! D:

It's just $15 after rebate! (If anyone's lucky with those)

Very sturdy once you put them in; they're like suction cups! m. You know they're in corectly when they make a little 'pop' sound.

Cons: The wire's thin as angel hair spaghetti.

One pair of each size earpiece.

Bass gave me a stiff neck, but it'll get better as you listen more.

Other Thoughts: Some people may think the wires are wonky, but it's a little plus to me; it feels weightless and the style makes it easier to tuck behind. I put mine under the shirt so the wires don't get caught in workout equipment, etc.

Geez, only $15 after rebate. What a steal.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Headphones

Pros: Great overall quality. Sound quality is the best you are going to get in the sub-100 dollar range, in my opinion. Though not labeled as sound reducing, once you get them in they block out a lot of noise. I can't hear a conversation 10 feet away at all. Uneven lengths for the cord keeps the headphone cable to the side if you are wearing an mp3 player on your hip. Comes with 3 pairs of plugs for your ears (the default fit in mine). It did not take long to learn how to fit them in my ear. They do not fall out (except if I am moving, see cons) when they are in. Arrived 3 days after order with free shipping.

Cons: The cord itself is pretty thin. Not a deal breaker, but it causes me to be careful when moving around or working with them on. Bass is very deep, and this is coming from someone who likes deep bass. I had to reset the equalizer for the lowest 2 range settings on my player(a Zen) from 4 and 5 to -2 and -1 to get a similar sound with the phones that came with the player, which weren't tinny sounding to start with. Also, the cord is just a bit too short to wear with an mp3 player in my hip pocket. If I twist or get up quickly, they sometimes pop out. This should not be an issue for most people though, I am 6'4" with a long torso. Again, these cons are more observations and not reasons to not buy it.

Other Thoughts: My cons field is long, but don't get me wrong, I love these headphones and highly recommend them. These do their job extremely well. They sound and cancel out noise better than a hundred dollar pair of canal headphones that are labeled as noise canceling and have active (battery powered) cancellation. I am considering getting another pair.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: These earphones are excellent for their price. The low end is very solid and clear. Overall the listening fatigue is very low and can be listened to for many hours without a problem. The wire is also a perfect length from my ear to my pocket; quite convenient. Also, they isolate noise very well, which helps a whole lot when doing things like mowing the lawn.

Cons: The mid is just a little shy, and the highs are just a tad bit loud, but not as bad as most.

Other Thoughts: I enjoy the uneven lengths in the headphones since I have the wire come up on my left side and the right ear wrap behind my head. I like it and consider it a plus, but I know some people don't like it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat iPhone Replacement Buds

Pros: I bought these to upgrade my iPhone earbuds. Let me say this, "these earburds are great!"

When watching movies on my phone I feel like I am in the theater. Music sounds ten times better. For the price these can't be beat. Now I can sit at my desk and block out the outside world while I do my work and don't even have to crank the volume all the way like with Job's thingys.

Cons: A lil bass heavy but hey it says that on the packaging. Cord gets tangle easy and it doesn't come with a case. Just have to get use to wrapping the right ear piece around the back of ur neck.

Other Thoughts: Originally I bought some Shure SE110 for like three times the price. I took those back and bought these when I saw the Egg's price. Sound quality just as good and i don't have to loop it around my ears. Great for traveling on planes since in-ear monitors isolate your eardrums. Not recommended for jogging or running because you will hear a loud THUD! every time your heel hits the ground. But all IEM do that! I also gave some old 80's walkman headphones for my $15 rebate.

4 out of 5 eggsbeware of trade-up rebate

Pros: excellent fit, seals out almost all background noise, quite loud

Cons: even the smallest silicone inserts hurt my ears after extended wear (more than a couple hours)

Other Thoughts: Sennheiser's trade-up rebate ripped me off. I sent in all the required materials and rebate status shows invalid because of no UPC. Now I'm out a perfectly good pair of earbuds I sent in AND I won't be getting my $15 trade-up rebate. Total rip off so make sure you send in headphones that don't work.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Excellent, fairly even response with no audible distortion. Tested with PC, iPod, phone, and even an analog mixer running off a pro CD deck; excellent, accurate quality from all sources. The volume varies extremely little over the frequency range, so these would be good for use as studio monitors or the like (I prefer canal phones for this because I can get by with only one in). Bass is not unevenly loud, despite the advertisement on the box ("Bass-Driven Sound"). Cord is short and easy to manage, which is good for those of you using this with an iPod and that sort of thing, as it doesn't get tangled or get in the way. Comes with three different sized pads to fit different ears; strangely enough, I ended up wearing the medium-size one for the right ear and the large one for the left, as for some reason previously unknown to me, my left ear canal is a bit wider than the right. Right-angle jack is always a plus, as it prevents the cord from being damaged at the end.

Cons: Cord is a little short for use with a PC or mixer, but since most people buying these will be using these primarily with iPods and won't need the long cord, this won't be a big deal. Plus you can always get an extension if it's really necessary.

These block out external sound very well. However, if you touch the cord or the earphones themselves, you will hear audible transmission artifacts; this is most evident when sitting in a quiet room with a strong fan or breeze, as you can hear the pressure changes on the earbuds. Not so noticeable if you have the music playing though, and above a certain volume you won't hear any noise at all.

Because of the small size of these buds, you won't feel bass vibrations as you would with larger headphones or speakers; however, this is a characteristic of all canal buds and not these in particular.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible

Pros: 16ohm impedance plays nice with portable media players. Excellent bass, mids, and highs. Bass is balanced and still powerful. Comfortable! Beats my previous earbuds for the same price.

Cons: When I started wearing these, I noticed a good bit of pressure in my ear when putting these in. I don't notice it anymore.
Sound isolation may a little *too* good at times. The chance of hearing any outside noise when you have music playing, wanted or not, is hopeless. This could be good if you're mowing the lawn or bad if you're, say, at work.

Other Thoughts: Read the instructions! People in other reviews complain that one side is much longer than the other. It's not lack of quality, it's a feature.
As Sennheiser explains in the instructions (which no one reads anymore), the longer cord was designed to go behind your neck and into your right ear. This takes strain off your ears. It is sometimes known as a "J type" configuration.
Trust me. The manufacturer isn't at fault here. (It's more a case of PEBKAC.)

Also, make sure you select the right earpiece size for your ear. You want to make sure you have a good fit for the best sound.

I chose these over new circumaural headphones. I'm happy I did.

5 out of 5 eggsgood for the price

Pros: generally comfortable with soft rubber padding, good sound isolation, impressive low frequency reproduction, good overall sound

Cons: a little irritating in ear for extended use, sound isolation good for listening to source but not if you want to hear people around you, a little harsh in the high frequencies

Other Thoughts: I also own Sennheiser PC151 headphones. They both possess a similar Sennheiser sound, but because of the size, the PC151 do sound noticeably better. However, these are great for use with a portable media player. I keep mine in my laptop bag. Newegg has a great price and with the current rebate, the value can't be beat.

5 out of 5 eggsRebate is NOT a scam!

Pros: At $29.99., this was a steal. After I broke mine in (took about 5 hours I think), the sound was excellent. I am using the medium sized buds which are slightly bigger than I would like for my ears, so the bass is a bit too bassy for rock songs, but I can live with it. Asymmetrical cord is not bad, when it is behind my neck, I can still move freely and the earphone will still stay in my ears.

Cons: The cord is thin so be careful with it. When I connect the "earphones" to my laptop, I can hear hissing when there is no music drowning out the hiss. I don't get this using my Sennheiser "headphones". This could be the fault of my soundcard but I don't know.

Other Thoughts: Sennheiser warranty is good for 2 years. Regarding the mail-in rebate, make sure you mail the "UPC" (barcode on the right of the back of the package) and not the "EAN" (barcode on the bottom of the back of the package).

4 out of 5 eggsPretty good

Pros: Great price here on newegg. Fit well in my ears (comes with 3 sets of adaptors for different ear sizes). Headphones look good.

Cons: I personally don't like the cord (unequal lengths on left and right side). Also, the cord is too short if you'd like to use these with a PC at your desk and the jack is more than a foot away.

Other Thoughts: The sound quality is good, not great. Turning the volume up above 50-60% causes distortion. Sound quality is about right given the price though. I don't think you can get a great-sounding set of canal headphones priced below ~ $150. If you want great sound for less, explore traditional over-ear headphones. The trade off is bulkiness. Sennheiser is typically my #1 choice for all headphones and after this purchase, my feelings have not changed. I also have the HD280 Pro and HD202 models, both bigger, but both provide rockin' sound.

4 out of 5 eggsGood audio for the price

Pros: Great fit; fits better than most in ear phones I've tried. Silicone inserts fit the bud and your ear very well, so it doesn't move around in your canal. Good sound balance for most types of music. Very crisp sound, well balanced highs and lows with jazz, acoustic, and similar genres. Isolates audio from outside noises. Small, light weight, but feel like quality set of buds. Cheap with Sennheiser's rebate offer!

Cons: Rap, hip-hop, techno, or other bass-heavy genres of music might seem overwhelming with bass with these, although some people see nothing wrong with that.

Other Thoughts: For the money, you can't beat these. The saying, "you get what you pay for" is very true, especially in audio equipment. However, these are abnormally cheaper these days, so I would recommend giving these a try, and taking advantage of Sennheiser's rebate offer!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Canal Phones

Pros: Great sound quality.
Good sound isolation
iPhone compatibility
Portability
Flexibility with different ear size adapters
Affordable price
Good bass response

Cons: Cord could be longer?

Other Thoughts: I come from using cans such as the Sennheiser HD650 but I cannot move that around because of size and expense. These don't come close to the sound quality of those headphones, but they require an amp and a quiet room for good quality whereas these give average-good sound everywhere.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent headphones... if you have bigger ears

Pros: These headphones sound great. They also do a good job at reducing the outside ambient noise.

Cons: The rubber ear buds don't fit well if you have small ear canals. This was after changing to the smallest size.

Other Thoughts: Some reviewers said that the buds had too much treble and not much bass but I didn't have this problem at all. Overall, great sound though. Much better than the standard iPod earbuds.

4 out of 5 eggsNot bad at all

Pros: For the price, very good lows, not overly boomy (could be my ear though), awesome fit in the ear.

Cons: Mids are lacking unfortunately, thank you equalizer. And also, see Other thoughts...

Other Thoughts: I'm going to put my .02 here and be honest. They're not the best sounding in the world by any means. But for the price, they're good performers which is why I give them 4 stars. Unfortunately, I can't spend $200 on earbuds like I wish I could so I make do and they do a good job with some tweaking. The biggest gripe I have about these and of course, all earbuds about $100 or less (simply as a generality) is that the high's are always just so DEAFENING and the mids need serious work. You can get these earbuds to sound good but you do need to tweak them using an equalizer. Now when I listen to rap or hip-hop, bass driven music or use them for games it's not so bad. But as soon as rock or metal comes in, a decent ear can tell they need work. But, they're under that $100 mark. And for the price I got them, I really can't complain. So honestly, a good budget product, it really is. But if you can afford them, get the really high end stuff if you're an audiophile.

4 out of 5 eggsgood sound short cord

Pros: Excellent sound quality, very good sound isolation, works very well with iplod.

Cons: Very short cord! Asymmetric cord so left earpiece has shorter cable than right makes it just short enough to pull out while the player is in my pocket while I am mowing the lawn Grrr.

Other Thoughts: Other than the short cable (I am not tall!), the isolation is great. I have high standards for sound quality and these sound good. For the price point they are great but don't expect to move around alot unless you have an armband or shirt pocket for your player.

4 out of 5 eggsCool earplugs

Pros: Good bass for the size, crisp sound, lightweight, cheap

Cons: The way the earplugs hang from the cord is strange. One of them extends much further from the main audio cord than the other, making it awkward looking after putting it on. They also were uncomfortable when I was jogging, because they didn't feel snug.

4 out of 5 eggsNice price, nice phones

Pros: Sound is great, best headphones/buds I've owned (though I haven't owned too many, and knew the others were garbage...)

Cons: Was confused about the left ear piece wire being shorter when I got it, still kind of am. But like someone else mentioned, they assume you keep your mp3 player on your left side (which I do so it's fine). But it actually works out OK, the right wire just hangs down under your head, or you could toss it behind your head I guess...

So once you get past that, it's no big deal

Other Thoughts: Comes with large, medium, and small little ear piece things which is nice.

5 out of 5 eggsWOW! Amazing sound!

Pros: Great sound. I'm a jaded headphone user currently owning audiophile cans from Senn, Audio-Technica, and AKG. I was very pleasantly surprised by these. This is my 1st experience with in the ear canal audio, and these have a smooth frequency response and excellent bass. The mids and highs are also good for something so small. If you are looking for something small for your portable and don"t want to spend XXX dollars, consider these. Because of these I plan on purchasing higher end in ear cans in the near future.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsSonic Bliss

Pros: These headphones are amazing for the price. The bass hits hard, and the mids and highs are good but lack some clarity until you adjust the levels to overcome some of the harshness. For the price they are really outstanding. I have listened to many high end buds at almost 5 times the price and these can go toe to toe with them. If you are upgrading from the iPod phones you will absolutely blown away, there is not comparison.

Cons: See other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Being an "ear canal" bud it takes a little getting used to if you are used to regular ear buds. Sometimes it's hard to equalize the pressure in your ears especially between the two buds. I started with the middle adapters and found later the smaller fit my ears better and I was able equalize the pressure much better. Minor stuff. These are GREAT headphones, I'm into high fidelity and I was not disappointed, you will not be either. Trust me.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: Great sound, great seal, well-distributed highs, strong bass. Nothing wrong with them until they stop working.

Cons: Earwax-magnet and poor cord design so I bought an extension so I don't pull them out of my laptop accidentally in the library and embarrass everyone. I've gone through 5 pairs so far, only 2 of which I've paid for. SH is great about replacement. However, they always seem to break after 2 months. (I killed one pair with an airplane adapter mistakenly used)

Other Thoughts: I keep my ears pretty clean, so I think it must be the whole pressure thing. One of the ear-buds always goes dead after a while. Do poke a hole in the seal: I will do so if I end up sending these back again to be replaced.

5 out of 5 eggsINCREDIBLY DURABLE!

Pros: Awesome sound. Blew every other pair of earbuds i've ever owned out of the water. got plenty of bass, even for sum1 with a 3000w amp and 3 12" subs in his car. INCREDIBLY DURABLE!(see below for details) They were a great deal when they cost $80 and now that they're only $50 why wouldn't you want these?

Cons: stethescope-like noise when they're in. may be slightly too bass heavy for sum but thats a plus for me

Other Thoughts: I just had to post an update on this. Today when i was pulling my work clothes out of the washer i freaked when i saw i'd left my headphones in my shirt pocket! they had gone thru a regular wash cycle w/ an extra rise and extended spin cycle. i thought i had destroyed them but after drying them off with a paper towel and tapping them on the counter to try and get any water out, i plugged them into my zune and was floored that they still worked with no audible difference in sound quality. I'm never buying anything but sennheiser earbuds ever again. ever.

Pros: - Squeezes lotta base from tiny mp3 player like an amped speaker.
- Quality material, looks like it's gonna last a couple of years.
- Perfect noise cancelling.
- 3 different bud cussions to get a perfect fit into your ear.

Cons: - Short cable.

Other Thoughts: - You have to work around a bit to get a perfect fit into your ear, otherwise you won't hear any base at all. Don't be affraid to push it into your ear. :))

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than iJunk by a long shot

Pros: These absolutely pwn any stock 'buds you'll ever get. Good highs, excellent midrange, and the bass, for the first 5 minutes of ever hearing these, actually can give you a headache, which means there are some 9mm subwoofers in your ears. They are mostly IN your ear, so if you have to fall asleep with them on, no discomfort at all. Can hardly feel the silicone tips. Cancels about 50% of ambient sound, things are noticeably quieter with them on.

Cons: Wires catch on everything. It looks old school, with the geometrical design and double-wide stereo wires. All but the actual buds are matte black. Sounds like a stethoscope, but your music can cancel that out.

Other Thoughts: Wires seem durable, massively affordable upgrade. I was a little disappointed at first because some $15 Phi**ps phones matched it in midrange, but these are some really good canal phones.

4 out of 5 eggscost effective

Pros: Bass is fairly strong for phones these small. Cost effective with respect to sound quality, great for mp3s. Difficult to hear the outside world.

Cons: Difficult to hear the outside world (such is the fact of closed-backing, good thing I'm not blind). J-wire (read the other reviews; fixed with a little electrical tape). Highs not as crisp as I would like. Installing ear pieces a bit tricky (I prefer to use the ear pieces from the broken buds these replaced, since they're easier to install after cleaning).

Other Thoughts: I actually bought these elsewhere, as they were on sale at the time. However, I trust Newegg reviews and felt like contributing =P

4 out of 5 eggsGood headphones

Pros: Good sound. Fuzzes out on the bass sometimes but is understood considering the driver size. Blocks out most sound at a low volume level. The different sizes of ear pieces that come with the headphones make for a good fit. Am able to sit at work for 8 hours without them hurting my ears.

Cons: It's a feature that the left earphone cord is shorter than the right but it's kind of annoying some times. The bass funks out durring songs that get heavy even when the EQ isn't on a bass heavy setting.

Other Thoughts: You have to play with how the things fit in your ears. If you don't then you won't get the optimal sound. Kind of picky that way but after you get them set they sound real good. That's normal considering that a lot of the sound quality on an ear bud is due to the sound path that the waves find into your ear so try the different ear pieces to find the optimal settings.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Headphones for Sale Price

Pros: The bass is pretty impressive for in-ear headphones. The color and design beats some of the iPod-specific white units. There are several different rubber earpieces to fit different ear sizes. They actually work very well while biking too. In my experience these are better than the Shure units that can be seen in retail outlets for a hundred. I was fairly impressed with the sound reproduction at all ends of the spectrum. I turned down my treble on my headphones because like most small drivers it seemed a bit tinny to me.

Cons: Asymmetrical wires need to be entirely eliminated from headphone design. These units have even worse wire implementation than some bad Sony units with J-wire. I overcome this by running the wires down my back while exercising. But otherwise the wire would get unbearably annoying for a set of headphones at this price level.

Other Thoughts: Don’t pay full retail price for these things. Take care of the wire because they don’t have the most durable feel. My headphones are still kicking after more than a year of use but I’m not that hard on my electronics. Don’t let the wire thing make or break the decision to buy these. If you want good sound from an in-ear set get these and judge all others you try out by them.

Pros: Great Bass, Once you get used to it it's very comfortable. I am not sure if they are worth their price but they are the best earbuds I have used yet.

Cons: Price, I got them for $xx when they where on sale. Still think they are kind of pricy

Other Thoughts: Overall great if you have the money and listen to high bass songs.

4 out of 5 eggsbest for the price

Pros: very clear sound, good fit, comfortable, small, adequate ambient sound isolation.

Cons: asymmetrical cord doesn't work as well as planned, cord could be a little longer overall.

Other Thoughts: Way better than stock iPod buds, in both fit and sound, enough to warrant the price IMO. Very clear sound, even while using a weed whacker & lawnmower. I could wear them all day. Bass is adequate - I notice the difference between recording values from song to song more than I notice an overall shortage of bass.

Pros: *Very* effective noise cancellation. Amazing clarity of sound. Tight lows that actually have a bit of kick, clear highs. After trying the J-style cord it's a definite plus: the cord leading to the right earbud wraps around your neck making the whole setup very unintrusive (can barely feel them on you; the right earbud can easily hang off ones shoulder to allow for conversation.

Cons: Cord IS microphonic (more-so than other canalbuds from what I've heard), but I haven't found it distracting at all & don't imagine it bothering many people. Cord length may be an issue for some people (3' from jack to left earbud). It hasn't been a problem at all for me, a 6' tall male with my player in my side left pocket. Also, no case is included.

Other Thoughts: They deliever incredible bang for your buck. These *easily* sound as good as many headphones that cost 3 figures. Just take care inserting them: the soft tip goes into the edge of the ear canal -- once both are on you should get the sensation that your ears are plugged. (And you won't get any bass reponse unless that happens) If you were listening to earbuds before you will be absolutely blown away by the quality of the product you're getting here. :-)

4 out of 5 eggsNice canal phones

Pros: Sound quality is quite good, and properly fitted (even though I am 6'2", the small size sleeves were actually the best fit) they isolate the noise and increase the effective bass response as well. Better than the 20-30 earbuds

Cons: I have been spoiled by a very high end $triple-digit pair of canal phones (that I got as a perk for adminning a LAN), although the sound quality of these doesnt come quite as close to those, you also save a couple hundred bux :)

Other Thoughts: And sound quality aside, this otherwise bland product (standard black cord, j plug, even the sleeves I have seen on other brands models) is still nice for the $double-digit price range. And going back to that $triple-digit model, their specialized cord and earpiece junctions apparently were in vain as they only lasted me a year until the cord started tearing :(

5 out of 5 eggsWonderfulness

Pros: Wonderful sound quality for the price. I was going to go with the more expensive Sure headphones but I'm glad I saved my wallet the extra $50-100. The frequency range is very very Good, goes all the way down to 18hz. A lot of mp3 players won't even put out that low of frequency. I am using them for regular headphones at work and school, but also as in-ear monitors when I play the drums. they work wonders. They are kind of sound issolating as well. Great fit to any ear. Doesn't hurt to wear them for long periods of time. The cannal fitting doesn't come off and get lost!!! Very Good product!!!

Cons: The left ear bud's string is shorter than the right ear buds string. This is called the J cord. I'm not a super huge fan but it doesn't bother me either. No case, but They are holding up superbly. The will play so loud without blowing that it could hurt your ears, I don't know if that is a con. :-) All cons listed above are not bad at all, just trying to tell you a little more about the product.

Other Thoughts: I love these headphones!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsperfect 4 me

Pros: Extremely, hurtfully, painfully loud. yet the person next 2 u wont here it if its in ur ear.the quality of the sound this earphone puts out its very high.i heard some of my fav songs and i heard new levels sound coming from the beats i never heard b4.highs mids and lows are fantastic on this pair.
i have these babies on half volume and thats enough for me to be satisfided with the volume level and cut off all sound outside even trains.

Cons: most annoying thing on these headphones and the biggest con is the ruffling noise the wire pressing against ur body makes. of course the rufflin noise cancels out when ur put the volume up to a certain level.

Other Thoughts: i use and ipod video and psp. these are perfect for the price. lookin aside from the rufflin noise they are perfect i dont even care about the right being longer then the left. THE WIRE IS MORE DURABLE THEN THE Sxxy earphones. no signs of cable breaking anywhere.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: These headphones are great. They are much better MdrEX51's. The decibel rate is much higher and the cord doesnt deteriate like the Sony's. Ordered them Wendsday and came Friday, go newegg!!

Cons: None, Carrying Case would of been nice but isn't the biggest deal.

3 out of 5 eggsawkward wiring

Pros: Great sound for the money - excellent bass, very accurate reproduction. Love the extra included small, medium, large in-ear cusions. Makes fitting them easy.

Cons: Asymmetrical wiring was the deal-breaker. It was just so awkward to wear, that I had to return them. Pitty, they sounded really good.

Other Thoughts: If you can get over the weird wiring, you might like these very much. One tip for wearing them: with your opposite hand (right hand for left ear, left had for right ear), reach over your head and gently tug on the back of your ear when inserting the earphones. This will slightly open the ear canal and will give you an excellent fit. Otherwise, you'll just kinda push the earphones in and they won't stay that well, nor will they sound as good as they can.

2 out of 5 eggsTinny Sound, where's the Bass?!

Pros: The canal style does a good job of almost eliminating outer noise but that's where the good ends. The sm, med, lg ear fittings are a considerate touch too. But sound is why you buy headphones. I have an excellent pair of Sennheiser HD 580 and am very impressed with them and so I know what Sennheiser is capable of making. This is why I am dissapointed w/CX300 model. I am aware the models are very different.

Cons: I was excited to open these up today and thought for the price they would sound quite decent. The company has a good reputation as well. Its unfortunate that w/these CX300's they were less than avg sounding: tinny lack of Bassl! The ad, "Bass Driven" is laughable and i think that is why its splashed upon the pkg. Dont waste youre $$ on this model. The wires leading to ea ear are very thin and feel vulnerable to breaking, I'm not fond of the asymmetrical syle either. The Creati**e earbuds that came w/my mp3 player have so much more depth of sound & bass. I am going to auction these off now since i will not be using them. I just wanted to save anyone else from making the same mistake. Dont get me wrong, Sennheiser is a great company. I guess the adage, "you get what you pay for"..applies here. $30 sale which is very attractive.

Other Thoughts: This is where you usually place another model that would be a good choice. I cant honestly suggest as i'm new to mp3 players which is why i bought these. However i'd recommend going to a store and listening and then ordering a pair or you may regret it as i did.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap.

Pros: Excellent sound quality for relatively low price. As long as you get a good fit in the ear, the bass response is impressive--not a strong point for most in-canal headphones.

Cons: First pair I got blew out after being unable to handle the air pressure of putting it in my ear. You'd think they would have thought of that.... Second pair literally fell apart. I don't know if they didn't put enough glue in it or what, but the outer spherical plastic came apart from the actual speaker, exposing the wires. Needless to say, the CONSTANT pulling of the assymetrical wire on that ear didn't help, as it was quick to pull apart again (after re-gluing) and break the solder...time to start counting the money. The J-cord constantly pulls on the left earbud no matter what position you place the wires (a lot of repositioning when you're wearing them)

Other Thoughts: The J-cord constantly pulls on the left earbud no matter what position you place the wires (a lot of repositioning when you're wearing them). Therefore, They're not good for exercise, but generally in-canal headphones aren't anyways. The J-cord makes it especially prone to pulling out of the ear--probably what led to my second pair breaking. I will probably send them in for the "lifetime warranty" but I'd guess that they wouldn't cover it. In all, good headphones if you...er....don't do anything. Maybe in the office? I'll be picking up another brand and model--first sennheiser product I've EVER been dissatisfied with (I have a studio and use all Sennheiser headphones).

5 out of 5 eggsSnag on everything!!!!!

Pros: THESE SOUND GREAT. They have great bass response. When I turn on the bass boost, my ears can feel the vibrations. Imagine a subwoofer in your ears. Their response is good, haven't heard anything better.

Cons: The wires snag on everything. They snag on your hand if you slightly move it. They snag on your mp3 player. THEY SNAG ON YOUR DOG. Not even joking. They get tied in knots all the time. But that's not their fault. It's just the material the wires are coated in.

Other Thoughts: So far, nothing but good stuff except for the frustration of wires snagging and getting ties in knots.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat sound quality

Pros: Excellent sound quality and comfortable fit. Like all sennheiser audio products, their mids/highs are excellent and the bass isn't overwhelming.

Cons: The cord could be a little longer if you intend on running with your mp3 player in your pocket instead of in an arm band.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Sound Quality of Massive Over the Ears Headphones in Earbuds!

Pros: Wonderful sound quality! Excellent bass! Distinct highs and mids. Cancels all outside noise. Stays in ears easily. Cord isn't too long and doesn't catch on my bicycle and get shredded like several of my older pairs, but not too short either, no pulling on my ears.

Cons: none yet

Other Thoughts: These are by far the best earbud headphones I've used. They've actually increased the amount of work I get done. Buy them.

Pros: Good sound, sound isolating, and comfortable.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I misplaced my first set of CX300's and bought the CX400's to replace them. But the cord on those is a strange two-piece thing, so I donated those to my wife when I found the CX300's were on close out.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent when on sale

Pros: They're quite decent at noise cancellation. Walking around downtown with them is almost dangerous! If you can get them to fit right, they have good bass (for the price) mids are slightly recessed. Not much to say about the highs.

Cons: You can hear if the cord is bumped. But it's not as loud and crazy as everyone makes it seem. It's bearable. And if you have a little clip thing or some tape, you can pretty much get rid of all of the noise.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't pay $40 for them, let alone $80. But if you can get 'em while they're on sale for $20ish, do it. They kill others at this price (see: skullcandy, iBuds, etc). I give them a 4, because I've definitely heard better headphones. But if it were a value rating at $20 to maybe $30, I'd give 'em 5 easy.

4 out of 5 eggscx300b's are ok

Pros: great sound quality. i would reccomend for computer use or just mp3/movie use if your sitting down. not for if your moving around. if your jogging or working out, go to ross and get a 8 dollar pair of skullcandys, they stay in place and unless your absolutely an audiophlie you wont be able to really tell the quality.

Cons: not as much bass as everyone says, skull candys have more, but no real quality, but i suppose you can just eq it up. also the volme is not all that high, but you just turn it on up. they have iffy build quality, the wires are quite thin, however when you find them extra cheep, like 14-18 bucks, just buy a pair, i wouldnt pay anymore. perodically check dealnews.com and booble shopping for "cx300" to get a good deal.

Other Thoughts: if the small covers dont fit the best you can steal the small ones off skullcandy buds which are a tad larger and will hold the buds in place better. to address what someone rating these lower said about the unequal cord length, they are made that way to wrap one around your neck. if you just want sheer bass, go to ross and buy a pair of skull candys and get ready to have your eardrums blown, just dont expect the audio clarity you get from these

5 out of 5 eggshappy camper

Pros: Purchased these during the trade-in promotion and only paid ten bucks. Overall sound is great, especially for $10. These were left in my pants pocket and went through the washer and dryer 8 months ago and STILL continue to work, however the cord got really curly from the incident. GREAT at reducing surrounding noises (cutting the lawn)

Cons: not a fan of the unequal length cords

Other Thoughts: purchased these for use while cutting and trimming the grass. perfect, and MUCH 100x better than phones provided by apple.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Earphones/Cans

Pros: Wow! Impressed!! Excellent sound quality, nice bass (not too much), good Mids and treble is perfect for me. I have a set of Shure E2C's and these guys give them a BIG run for the money, I am actually using these Senns more than the Shures.

Cons: The wire could be thicker, but come on , at this price these things are awesome. Would be nice to have a pouch with it, but I just used one I had.

Other Thoughts: My set of cans don't exhibit any of cons posted here, I have no static with the cable, they fit my ears perfectly with the normal ear adapters. Excellent sound quality that gives the higher priced cans a big run for their money. Love the sound quality and very comfortable!

4 out of 5 eggsVery nice, cheap price

Pros: • Quite accurate for the cost, decent bass, even mids, clear treble with no over-emphasis in any frequency range.
• very good noise isolation; great for travel IF you fit them properly.
• small and lightweight; fits in your pocket and ready to go.
• You CAN almost sleep with them in, they're that small.
• Audio quality does actually improve slightly with use. After playing a few weeks, they did sound a little bit fuller and have more presence.

Cons: • J-wire design pulls out easily, wire material is sticky rather than smooth so it grabs onto other surfaces.
• maybe TOO sensitive; pretty loud with my iPod Touch even on low volume settings. I notice this is the only headset I have ever connected to my iPod that has obvious background hiss when content is quiet.
• sized earpieces won't fit everyone. Even the large is slightly small for my ears, and they are a little loose.

Other Thoughts: These compare favorably with Shure E2c and Sennheiser HD280 over-ear 'phones, both of which cost upwards of $100. Far better than the plastic junk supplied with any MP3 player (yeah you, Apple!). More wearable than the Shure series, at least if you use the foam inserts (which get uncomfortable within an hour). You can wear these for much longer and unless the cords snag on something you wouldn't know they were there.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent at this discount price

Pros: A great price after rebate. Bass is pretty nice and the mids and highs come through better with these than they did with my old Sony in-ear headphones. They block out outside noise rather well, so it's wonderful for living in a noisy student complex (can't hear a thing while studying).

Cons: The cable noise which other reviewers have mentioned is present. If you bump it into anything, rub it on anything (even if it just drags across your shirt) you're going to hear it loud and clear in your ears. That's why it only gets 4 stars. My old sony's didn't have this problem, interestingly.

The range of earbud sizes also seems a bit extreme. They go from tiny, to normal, to huge (my old sony's were better in that regard, as your options were a bit more realistic). Still, not a problem given the price point.

Other Thoughts: Sennheiser always gives me bang for my buck. The cable noise issue should be fixed in the next version of this product, though, and not repeated.

3 out of 5 eggsAsymmetric design is terrible

Pros: Sound quality is pretty good since they make a good seal around your ear. Bass is good. Overall great if you are used to the standard issue white Ipod earbuds.

Cons: The "Asymmetric" cord is such a pain. it makes me want to throw these in the garbage. They might work well if your head is about 2 feet in diameter. The other cord might need be about a few inches longer than one, but this is like 12" longer, ridiculous. I don't think anybody at Sennheiser tried these on after they designed them.

Other Thoughts: They will constantly get yanked out of your ears because all the tension is put on the short side if you move around. These are fine if you sit around and use them, but don;t bother if you are using them at the gym like me.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat headphones, excellent price

Pros: these headphones were 80$ at other stores and there has been alot of talk about fakes going around, so I was obviously concerned that these would be fake with their 30$ pricetag. I'm no audiophile, but judging by the sound quality and look, these don't appear to be fakes. Although I'm happy with the sound these give out, I hate the assymetrical cord, I understand it is supposed to be better because it holds them in place when you put the right one around the back of your neck, but they give the right earbud way too much extra cord, it's enough to wrap it around your neck nearly twice. All the extra cord looks sloppy and gets in the way. All in all, would buy again but would prefer symetrical cords.

Cons: oops... First newegg review and didn't realize I was writing in the pros box... No copy paste on my iPod touch. So please just pretend that pros box was actually the other thoughts box.

Other Thoughts: sorry again

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Balance, price on sale, sound quality.

Cons: Well they don't fit well at all. Worst fitting for some reason in my ear's that I've ever had. Top that off with the INSANE noise from the wire itself, and don't even get me started on the noise the cord makes when there is any kinda of wind.

Other Thoughts: It really is a shame the fitting and noise from wire almost break the deal totally. If not for the on sale price I'd be rather upset. Had I paid full $80 or whatever msrp is I'd be furious.

I LOVE senn headphones, they are simply outstanding and so good they WILL change the way you understand sound/music.

For sale price I'd say it's a wash and you should try them. Maybe you'll get better fitting , but NOTHING I believe will fix the totally unacceptable noise you get from the wire. I mean I am shocked at this really.

Pros: excellent bass, fits any ear hole size with ease, requires a lower volume to achieve the same output ie. 8gb zune with ipod earphones require volume value of 20 whereas these headphones with a value of 10 sound the same, sits comfortably on the ear.

Cons: sucks the air out of your ear, don't use at work if you expect to hear other people calling you, make sure your ears are clean.

Pros: Really good headphones. Great sound quality, amazing bass and they are really loud. The design is really good - they look cool and are really comfortable. Ear adapters are soft (nothing like cheep ruber one) and fill just great. :)

Cons: It's so easy to brake them. The cabel just fell of from the headphone. This is only thing i dislike in this headphones... and it's a big deal since you don't want to just trow away your money.

Other Thoughts: I think CX300 are the best for quality / price, especially with newegg sale :) Buy them if you want good sounding headphones, but be carefull and take care for them :)

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great sound

Cons: none of the included ear buds fit my ear canals. Guess I must not be an average person

Other Thoughts: Don't buy these for anything that involves motion as they pop out easily

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the $

Pros: Sound reproduction for the money is out of this world.

Light, comfortable, great angled and slim plug.

Silicone tips seem to be fairly secure

Cons: I get some cable noise with these when I walk around, but it's not a huge deal, and I have had much worse before.

Other Thoughts: I threw away my bose in ear headphones after the tips fell of for about the fourth time. Bose used to send them to customers free of charge, but now they want us to pay for them. Bologna!

4 out of 5 eggsDecent product; bad rebate processing

Pros: Product has much better sound characteristics than I expected for what I paid

Cons: You can hear your steps through these while walking or jogging. May be I need to change the tips, I am not sure.

Other Thoughts: Rebate processor parago (not newegg) is famous for finding untrue reasons for not honoring rebate submission. They said my UPC is invalid. I pulled off the package. When I called they said they will process and send rebate check.

3 out of 5 eggsGood bass, but they fall out

Pros: Good bass, fits in ear canals nicely

Cons: When running they fall out, fall out when you sweat

Other Thoughts: Basically decent headphones when you're just loungin and need to bump some music but when it comes to working out the product falls short because it falls out of the ear canal. I use the smallest sizes cause they fit best when sittin in my ear canals but the medium and large doesn't. The large and medium basically settle between the tragus and anti-tragus and do not cup the ear canal which hinders the quality of sound and allows exterior noises to penetrate between the gaps of the tip of the earbud and the ear canal.

4 out of 5 eggsGood quality for the price

Pros: Compact, 3 different size ear canal pieces to choose from. Right angle connector where plugs into mp3 player

Cons: If you were to hold the 1/8 plug in your hand and hold upside down so the ear pieces hung, the right is longer then the left by about a foot. I do not like this feature. I would have prefered them to be same distance from the 1/8 plug. Not a deal killer but....

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent value for your money

Pros: For the price you're paying it is a very good value. With the high sound quality these little headphones offer you will hear little details and sounds in music you've never heard before.

The rebate came from Sennheiser quickly and with no hassle, which is fairly rare these days with other companies doing everything they can to make sure they keep the rebate.

After dealing with Sennheiser in the past for warranty repairs and customer service they are also excellent.

Cons: Been said before but the odd cord length is not something Im too fond of

5 out of 5 eggsVery Decent Headphones

Pros: Great headphones. Alot of people complain about the cord...but you just have to wear it correctly and its very comfortable. So far these headphones have startled me a little bit because ill hear things I have never heard before. When I wear them at work I find myself turning to look behind me to see if someone is knocking on something...but its just the music playing in my ears. that is basically saying that it captures and produces sounsd you wouldnt hear with average headphones. For the price this could be the best deal out there for headphones

Cons: Longevity is always an issue, but suprisingly they provide a 2 year warrenty which is nice, and i have heard great things about their customer service...only time will tell. Also the bass is lacking, my v-modas have alot more bass than these but other than that ill live. I listen to John Mayer and Dave MAtthews and its amazing.

Other Thoughts: If you can buy these for 20 or under...its a great deal

5 out of 5 eggsConcerns about CX300 dispelled

Pros: Sound Quality: I am not a music expert, but I know quality when I hear it. These are terrific little devices, with unbelievable bass for the size and price. With all my earlier earphones, it hardly made a difference whether I had 128 or 320 bitrate on my mp3s... With these, you can actually make out every little nuance and realize what 320 bitrate should really sound like! They reproduce each and every little note, however soft and short.
-Very comfortable to wear
-Fantastic bass, great overall sound quality
-Good build quality
-Price, with rebate
-work well even with very low output devices
-Good noise blocking, though you can still hear sounds, they no longer intrude between you and you music.

Cons: -Cord length
-Difference in prices for other colors
-No case
-Packaging takes ages to open :-)
-No instructions on how best to wear, how to replace the rubbers, etc.
-Right ear more prone to fall out than left (could be my ear at fault!)
-Bit risky to jog with them, since they block noise.

Other Thoughts: Concerns I had before I bought these:
1. Counterfeiting and rebate - be assured, I mailed both Sennheiser and Newegg to confirm that Newegg is an authorized reseller, so you WILL get the rebate, and of course, genuine Senns.

2. Will the Bass drown out the high notes?
NO, it does not. The treble is also good. But yes, treble is just "good", bass is "awesome"

3. Cord noise
So far it has not bothered me, but havent been out on a jog with them.

4. Will they play bassless Classical music well?
Indian classical music has hardly any bass, and they still do a terrific job.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: These headphones produce very rich sound. They block outside sounds well. These headphones produce deep bass but not to the point where it is too loud.

Cons: Rubbing on the cables sounds a little noisy when you have the headphones in. You also have to get used to hearing yourself breathe, swallow, and chew.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat bass and sound quality

Pros: Excellent blocking of ambient noise. Cubicle life can be distracting and this help keep the noise out. Tried all 3 canal adapters and found the largest worked best for full sound and bass. Excellent product. I've used every type of headphones from every manuf. and these are my first from Sennheiser. These are my first canal type too and are excellent. NewEgg ordered and received next day. Awesome. Didn't pay for any special shipping.

Cons: The wires are stiff and can be annoying but I'm assuming it due to newness.

Other Thoughts: I've used NewEgg for 5+ years and have never been disappointed. Keep up the excellent work.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent canal 'phone

Pros: The bass on these canal 'phones is pretty good. It's almost overwhelming at times, but I believe that's to combat ambient noise when using these while traveling, etc. The bass is tight and isn't sloppy like that which you'd find on lower quality buds. They keep out ambient noise pretty well. Quality and construction seems to be up to par.

Cons: Highs are veiled. Hopefully, this will disappear after sufficient burn-in time.

Other Thoughts: To properly audition these, I used the same songs I used to tune my home and mobile audio systems. They are full CD-quality files, not MP3 encoded.

Overall, these are decent headphones. They are not exceptional, and certainly not a great value at retail. However, at ten dollars (after MIR), they are the best value I've found in a while. Hopefully some of the veiling will disappear with some proper burn-in time. They definitely won't replace my home audio set-up for long listening sessions, but will make a nice addition to my portable, in-pocket set-up. I'll either revise or add a new review once I've had more experience with these.
