5 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound, Great Price

Pros: These head phones sound great across their frequency response range. The bass has excellent presence without being overwhelming. The mids and highs are clear and clean. These are well balanced headphones that let you really hear the music just the way it was mixed.

Cons: The long cord finds it's way under the wheels of my chair and gets run over often.

Other Thoughts: I just bought a second set of these. My old set still sound great, but the cord is beat up and the covering for the ear cups are worn our. Also, these are On-Ear, not Around-The-Ear, just in case the product title has you confused on that. My ears can feel a bit "pressed in" if I wear them for a few hours. They have a semi-open design that does let some background sound through. I find I still have to take them off to have a conversation with someone though.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for Gamers

Pros: Quite light on ears. Comfort is not a problem.

I think these are best suited for radio listening where bass is already overamped. Dance music sounds good, however...

Cons: ... positional audio shooter players should stay away because you will be dead by the time you locate your enemy. There seems to be a great unbalance in the range of these Yamaha phones, and I found it difficult to find a volume sweet spot for my pc: take heed and don't push your volume too much.. excess treble might hurt your hearing and in one particular case I listened to a song on the Yamaha set and this song has a very high pitched piercing noise to it on these phones (dangerous to hearing)-but then I listened again on sennheiser hd 201 and that noise is not there. So for cheaper gamer phones get sennheiser (although 201 are heavy on ears).

5 out of 5 eggsWorth its price

Pros: Sound: very good, however do not expect excessive bass (bass is still there), in fact my initial impression was too much treble. They do block external noises more so than my sony mdr xd 100.
Comfort is perfect to me.
After buying 2 different headphones that were either uncomfy or bad sounding I am glad I chose yamaha.

Cons: To me it is useless to include the huge connector... The manufacturers just include it as a standard, but I always throw them out.

Other Thoughts: Price is going up. I got them at 50.

5 out of 5 eggsBest headphones for under $100?

Pros: Clear, well balanced sound, light weight, fairly comfortable, durable, good value

Cons: Seems to lose volume and ability to handle big bass over time, somewhat creaky plastic

Other Thoughts: I have had these for 3 years and they've been great but unfortunately, I tripped over the wire and yanked them out of the jack, damaging the jack and bending the headphone connector like a champ. So I went ahead and ordered some nice wireless headphones but am going to return them due to their tinny/compressed sound and inconvenient auto-off feature and get these again instead. They are probably the best headphones for under 100 dollars. Even when hooked up to my phone, they sound great. They somehow manage to make low quality music sound better. They don't have particularly good treble or bass but rather, they are just very well balanced. Compared to smaller headphones most people should be pretty impressed with them. As with probably any on-ear headphone, they can make your ears sore after long periods of use but you actually get used to them after about a week. There isn't too much padding and they tend to be somewhat slippery and can fall off if you bob your head. :P

5 out of 5 eggsReally Nice Product

Pros: Excellent Sound Quality. Lightweight. Comfortable even after a couple of hours. Balanced sound reproduction. Great Price.

Cons: None. These are Yamaha's.

Other Thoughts: I did not want to spend $200 to 300 for headphones. These reproduce all sounds great. I like to listen to all types of music and these do a fantastic job. Very balanced sound. Great for PC gaming as well using an onboard Creative x-fi chip on my Gigabyte X58 G1 Sniper.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat budget studio monitor headphones

Pros: Great monitor headphones, and definitely a bonus that I got them at a sale price. They're very light and comfortable and sound amazing.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Another reviewer commented they didn't have enough bass for him. Studio monitors are designed to give a nice even signal across the audio spectrum. The idea is accurate reproduction of the recording. If you want more bass don't go for monitor headphones.
