3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Light/portable
- Comfortable, they sit on your ears (can listen to these for hours)
- One-sided cable

Cons: - Flimsy/cheap design
- A bit harder to power than average portable headphones
- Do not fold up

Other Thoughts: (My review was done after removing the foam from under the pleather padding, known as the "Asteroid Mod" on Head-fi)

- Many reviewers either love or hate these, and I'm assuming this is a fit issue. Before I removed the foam, There were hardly any lows or highs. After the mod however it has a different sound altogether. Mid bass and highs are pretty dominant now (Most likely due to the drivers being closer to your ears).

- These are classified as supra-aural, and rest on your ears, which means they do not isolate sound as well as headphones that go around your ears (though they do a good job).

- These headphones were clearly designed for PORTABLE use, and I think they accomplish that well.

- Without the mod they have a very non fatiguing sound signature which allows you to listen for a long time.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap, mediocre sound, somewhat fashionable and compact.

Cons: The cord is extremely cheaply made, the entire product is kind of spotty but definitely usable.

Other Thoughts: I wasn't expecting a ton out of these, they happened to be on sale so I decided to pull the trigger. My immediate thoughts are, these are the lowest tier for a Sennheiser product. That being said, they're not awful the sound quality is decent, they aren't as loud as I had anticipated but they're not quiet either. My biggest complaint is the overall craftsmanship seems really inconsistent, aesthetically the headphones look great but upon closer inspection there's some flaws with the cord.

1 out of 5 eggscheap headphones

Pros: -more bass than expected
-decent sound for the price
-ok at insulating against outside noise

Cons: -very cheap plastic frame
-headphone jack was crooked and the plastic sheath seemed poorly made
-wire was too short for my purpose

Other Thoughts: My pair was defective, but I am not surprised given the general low quality of this set. Even at $30, I expected more.

2 out of 5 eggsFlimsy for Sennheiser gear

Pros: -Decent sound quality for price.
-Good bass response. I listen to music that has a fair amount of bass (hip-hop, drum n bass, house) and I got a good bass response.
-comfort level = OK. Earcups are padded in leather/leatherette.

Cons: -Earcups are a bit small -- its hard to tell the earcup size from picture -- these are much smaller than HD280 or HD202 Earcups.
-As such, they don't fully cover my ears and don't filter background noise as well as the better models
-cheaply constructed. Earcup leather is slipshod & poor fit over the speakers
-flimsy-looking. Cord from earcups to jack is VERY thin (thinner than that found on most earbud headphones) and looks quite easy to break.
-does not look like it will hold up to much wear.

Other Thoughts: The pair of HD-280 I have owned (and loved) for years was finally falling apart so I bought these as a lower-cost and more portable option. The sound quality is decent but the flimsy & sloppy construction doesn't look like it will hold up to much wear without breaking. Overall, not what I expect for a product with the Sennheiser name attached.

I'm returning them; I'd rather spend more and get a replacement pair of HD-280 (or even HD-202, which I use at work -- great sound and much sturdier construction).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good sound quality for the price. No connector damage on the headphone jack even after 2 months of use (which means its actually still usable).

Cons: Not much

1 out of 5 eggsDon't bother

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Cheap... and they sound like it. Overall the sound is very quiet, and there is zero bass. I'm amazed that Sennheiser even makes such a lousy product. Will be returning them immediately and looking to buy more expensive headphones.

Other Thoughts: The item's plastic packaging is quite annoying to have to cut open.

5 out of 5 eggsSennheiser Rocks

Pros: Wow!! What an improvement over the simple, yucky earbuds that are out there for almost the same amount of money!
I listened to as many headsets as I could before purchasing these.
My home pair are a pair of Signet electret cans that I that I bought for a fortune before I got married.
Everyone I have let use them on my BB Storm using high bit rate mp3's is amazed at the sound quality!
I looked at some of the noise cancelling headsets as well as the "Dr. Dre Beats" but bought the Sennheiser's based on best price/performance ratio.
I flew to Dallas Tx for a business trip and these headsets do a great job blocking out noise with high comfort level for extended periods of time.

Cons: Not the easiest headphone to find and even harder to get a listen before buying.
Because they are over the ear they are a bit large to pack but what I have found is that I just wear them around my neck all the time.
Blister packaging can cause the loss of appendages and is cheesy for this quality headset.

Other Thoughts: I wish that more people would write reviews and tell how much they like these.

2 out of 5 eggsDo Not Waste Your Money

Pros: They are comfortable. They work.

Cons: The sound quality is very poor. The cord is very fragile and very thin.

Other Thoughts: I am listening through the Sennheiser HD218 Headphones right now. I am currently comparing them to a cheap pair of headphones that I have right here. The cheap pair ($3.88) sound better; they are Coby headphones. The highs are not as clear as they should be and the lows are almost nonexistent. You might here something that sounds like a little bass every now and then. The headphones fit on your ears, pressing down on them. I thought that they would fit around my ears. Nope. I tried them in my MP3 player and a digital recorder; the sound still comes out, just average. If you do not have any other headphones, these headphones might sound good to your. I did hours of comparisons. I will be sending them back. I will wait and purchase me a much better, more expensive set at another time...not Sennheiser. My recommendation .... do not waste your money.
