Audiophile sound
- Pros: The sound is very warm and musical compared to other headphones. If you are a bassfreak, look elsewhere, these are very neutral cans. Instead of the thumping bass that you find in other brands (IE. the one by Dr. Dre) this one provides a very string bass like sound. It's bassy but not overwhelming. The soundstage is excellent and you can heard the separation between different instruments. You'll be relistening many tracks from your music library with these because you'll be amazed at the difference between entry and audiophile level of sound. Furthermore, you'll be comfortable with the velvet plush that lightly clamps around your ears.
Again bass-tards, these are not for you. My friend whom listens to a $20 Creative headset, claims that the HD 595 do not "hit" as hard as his cans.
- Cons: -Requires over 250 hours of burn-in? I don't remember, but it took a long as.s time.
-It's open air design, therefore you can heard ambient sounds from outside. Also, these are loud enough to be mini speakers, if you wish to use that way. Just don't blow them out!
-Expensive. I bought them for $180, but almost all high-end headphones are expensive. HD800 for example!
-Needs an amp to reach its full potential. If you don't have an amp or a powerful sound card, you will have the notorious Sennheiser Veil. It sounds like a piece of cloth is blocking your phones from having a clear sound. I currently use an HT Omega Claro Halo to power mine.
-Very well rounded. As much as I like it being a good overall performer, I wish it did excel a bit more on resolution. It's not as clear as an AKG, despite them having a different sound signature.
- Other Thoughts: The person that gave this a three star rating is clearly ignorant. If you are experienced with audiophile level headphones, they you should be well aware how much sound you can get from a $200 headphone. Audio equipment is expensive, and an HD 595 is close to entry level. If you can't afford to get better headphones, don't expect a lower tiered product to perform at the highest level. Also a Creative Audigy 2? LOOOOL Garbage in, garbage out.
Not very impressed
- Pros: - Sweet design
- Awesome support and company backing - COMFORTABLE - adequate length cable
- Cons: - 6.3mm stereo with 3.5mm adapter, CLUNKY and WEIRD
- Sounds awful with analog sound - Open CANS! EWWWW
- Other Thoughts: This is the first pair of headphones that I have owned that I spent over 200 dollars on. Let me be very clear in saying that they are adequate for ANYONE who has not experienced a lot of headsets. If you are going from 19 dollar headphones to these, you will be blown away.
That being said, for 200+ dollars, I expected audio perfection. Sadly, I could discern audio flaws, straight from the get go. Perhaps It could be an issue with my hardware, however I have an adequate Creative Audigy 2, which I'm sure is what 70% of people who will buy these will have.
Lets simply say for 200+ dollars, I expected sound ecstacy. I did not receive anything jaw dropping. I promptly returned them for a refund.
Best Heapdhones Around
- Pros: Best sound reproduction available in low-resistance cans (read: can be used with any source without amplification.) Perfect reproduction across the entire spectrum of sound. Super comfortable to wear for extended periods, tough enough to fall asleep in, light enough to carry around.
- Cons: Open-eared, which isn't really a con if you're an audiophile, but they don't block out ambient noise, and anyone around will be able to hear you. The 1/4" adapter can put stress on outputs.
- Other Thoughts: Buy an amplifier, improve your source audio. The quality of your sound is only as good as the weakest link. The sound blaster cards are good for gaming audio, but look into other brands for more accurate music reproduction.
